ON THE FERRY TO SUCCESS

LEETONIA OH- A look at Leetonia’s girls basketball roster would tell you its a fairly young team. As we all know though, a young team is nothing without a few experienced leaders. Taran Ferry is a source of experience for Leetonia. The senior has put in the work her whole career to get where she is. Now in her senior season, she can’t believe how fast it has actually gone. She says the craziness of the COVID season has seemed to speed it along even further.

Other than the very fluid schedule, Taran has also had to deal with injuries this season. Being away from her team, even for a couple weeks just fueled her drive to get back on the court. It also made her treasure the time with the team even more. As far the physical and mental grind it took to get back as quick as possible, Taran said it was her team and coaches who helped push her on. Ferry has a family that lives for sports. Her brother Marco is a star on the Bear’s football team, and doesn’t slouch at basketball either.

Ferry says her relationship with her brother has always been a big impact to her athletic success. It’s a family that will live in the lore of Leetonia athletics for years to come.

Taran took the time to catch up with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to talk about her senior campaign. They also discuss the obstacles COVID has brought, her favorite memories with the team, and much more. Meet one of the leaders of the Lady Bears basketball team in the latest player profile “On The Ferry To Success”
