PIRATES PILLAGE A PAIR OF CONFERENCE WINS

RAVENNA OH- It was a full day’s work for the Southeast Pirates, and they made it count—taking both games of a Thursday doubleheader against Liberty. Game 1 was all about offense, while Game 2 turned into a low-scoring pitchers’ duel.

Game 1 – Pirates Explode in the Third to Run Away with Game One

Southeast’s lineup came alive in the third inning of Game 1, hanging a crooked seven on Liberty to blow things wide open in a 13-3 win. They were already rolling after scoring twice in the first and another three in the second, including an inside-the-park homer and a triple ripped down the left field line.

That third inning rally featured everything—an error to start the scoring, a groundout RBI, a bases-loaded walk, and back-to-back RBI singles to cap the outburst.

In the circle, Southeast got three solid innings from their starter, who punched out five while giving up just three hits and two earned. The bullpen came in and shut things down in the fourth, putting the game on ice.

The Pirates pounded out 10 hits in the opener, with multiple players putting together multi-hit efforts. They were sharp in the field too—no errors, quick throws, and a double-digit win to kick off the day.

Game 2 – Bragg and Powell Team Up to Blank Liberty

Game 2 was a whole different story—tight, clean, and all about the pitching.

Southeast scratched across a run in the first off a sharp RBI single and tacked on another in the second. That’s all they’d need.

Liv Bragg set the tone with two scoreless innings, striking out three, and then Savannah Powell came in and tossed three clean frames of her own to lock up the 2-0 shutout.

The bats didn’t have to do much, but still delivered just enough with four hits, including a pair from Morgan Muncy. No mistakes in the field either—Southeast played crisp defense all afternoon, completing the sweep with zero errors over both games.

Liberty had a few bright spots at the plate in each game but couldn’t break through when it mattered. Their pitchers battled but couldn’t match the Pirates’ firepower early or their efficiency late.

LEOPARDS CRANK UP THE RUNS

LOUISVILLE OH-  Louisville wasted no time putting Massillon in a hole Thursday night, hanging an 8-spot in the first inning and never looking back in a 15-5 beatdown.

Everything clicked early. The Leopards took advantage of an error, worked a bases-loaded walk, and then the bats exploded. Katelynn Miller ripped a 2-run double, Shae O’Neill lifted a sac fly, Taylor Thompson added an RBI single, and Kaitlin Twinem capped the inning with a no-doubt shot to center—good for two more.

And they weren’t done. Louisville kept the pedal down in the second, tacking on four more. Leah Claugus led off with a solo blast to right, O’Neill dropped in a 2-run double, and Thompson drove in another with her second knock of the game.

Massillon showed some fight in the fourth with a 3-run bomb from Rylee Adams, but the Leopards answered right back in the fifth when Addy Campbell crushed a 3-run homer to right on a hitter’s count to walk it off in style.

Anna Sirohman got the start in the circle, going four innings while giving up five runs on five hits with three punchouts and no walks. Taylor Schneider came in to finish it off, tossing a clean frame with two strikeouts.

Louisville’s offense stayed hot, racking up 11 hits on the night. Thompson, Twinem, and Miller each picked up a pair, while Campbell and O’Neill both knocked in three runs. Twinem also swiped two bags as the Leopards kept the pressure on with speed and smart baserunning.

Adams provided the pop for Massillon with three RBIs, and Shelby Decker went 2-for-3 to lead the Tigers in hits, but the early deficit proved too much to climb out of. The Leopards hit the road Friday for a matchup with Triway, looking to keep the offense rolling.

SOUTHEAST SHOWS COMPLETE DOMINATION

RAVENNA OH-  The Southeast Pirates were locked in from start to finish on Wednesday, sweeping a doubleheader against Liberty with wins of 17-1 and 10-1. From the batter’s box to the bump, the Pirates controlled every inning and flexed some serious depth.

Game 1 – Statement Made Early

Liberty scratched across a run in the top of the first, but it didn’t take long for Southeast to flip the switch. The Pirates dropped seven runs in the home half, sparked by a two-run double from Nate Muccino, and they never looked back.

They piled on with four more in the second and six more in the third, feasting on Liberty miscues, sharp singles from the heart of the order, and aggressive baserunning.

Joe Sharish was dominant on the hill—three innings, no hits, eight punchouts, and complete control. Timothy Parbel led the hit parade, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs from the nine-spot. Muccino matched that RBI total, and Southeast finished with 11 hits, eight walks, and six stolen bases.

Game 2 – Same Script, Same Result

In the nightcap, it was more of the same. After a scoreless first, Southeast cracked it open in the second with a two-run single from Parbel. An error and a knock by Braedyn Walden made it 4-0 in the third, and the Pirates never let Liberty breathe.

Cohen Richardson threw three no-hit innings with five strikeouts to earn the win, and Caleb Miller closed things out. The arms stayed in control, and the defense stayed clean—zero errors across the board.

Offensively, the Pirates tallied 10 more hits and drew nine walks. Caden Dillon and Muccino each collected two hits, while Parbel and Walden added two RBIs apiece. Keto drew three walks, and the team ran wild again with five more steals.

Two games, 27 runs, and complete domination in every phase. Next up for the Pirates: a Thursday matchup with Fuchs Mizrachi.

LEOPARDS FAST START ENOUGH TO EDGE URSULINE

STRUTHERS OH-  Louisville made just enough noise on Wednesday to outlast Ursuline in a gritty 5-4 win. The Leopards struck first in the second, capitalizing on an error before Cooper Rice ripped a two-run double to give them a 3-0 lead. But Ursuline punched back in the fourth, tying things up with a fielder’s choice, another error, and an RBI single to even the score at 3-3.

Rice came through again in the sixth with a clutch RBI single to put Louisville back on top—and that would be all they needed.

Brock Leghart handled the bulk of the work on the mound for Louisville, tossing four innings of one-hit ball with eight strikeouts. Grayson Brunoni shut the door late with a save, and Caden Kortis tossed a clean inning in relief.

Offensively, Rice led the way with a pair of hits and three RBIs, while Kolton Loy also collected two knocks.

Ursuline didn’t go down easy. They racked up five stolen bases, with CJ Snyder swiping three of his own. Luke Stroney drove in two, and the Irish were one big swing away from flipping the script. Next up: Louisville heads to St. Ignatius for a Thursday test, while Ursuline looks to bounce back at home Friday against Hoban in a key matchup.

LOUISVILLE LEADS THE WAY

AKRON OH- Louisville made the most of their chances Friday night, pulling away in the middle innings to knock off Nordonia 6-1 under the lights at Canal Park.

Scoreless through two, the Leopards got things rolling in the third with a sac fly to take a 1-0 lead. Nordonia answered right back in the bottom half with a double down the line to even it up, but that was about all they’d muster.

In the fifth, Louisville took control for good. A clutch RBI single broke the tie, and moments later, an inside-the-park homer cleared the bases and cracked the game wide open, making it 4-1.

From there, the arms took over. Louisville’s starter went four strong innings, giving up just two hits and one run while striking out six. The bullpen closed it out clean to lock down the win.

At the plate, the Leopards spread the production. Four different hitters picked up knocks, with two different guys driving in a pair. Louisville stayed aggressive on the bases too, swiping five bags and turning a slick double play on defense.

Nordonia scattered a few hits and drew six walks but couldn’t get the big hit when they needed it. Louisville will head to Pittsburgh on Monday for a matchup with Central Catholic, looking to keep the momentum going.

LOUISVILLE KEEPS THE FLASHES IN CHECK

WARREN OH-  Louisville used a fourth-inning blast to swing momentum and rode it the rest of the way, knocking off Champion 6-2 on Wednesday.

Champion jumped on the board early with a run in the first thanks to a double, but the Leopards didn’t flinch. In the fourth, they turned the game upside down when Addy Campbell launched a two-run shot to center that gave Louisville the lead—and they never looked back.

Katelynn Miller took it from there. The Louisville ace went the distance, scattering seven hits and giving up just two runs while racking up nine punchouts and only issuing two free passes.

Campbell did the damage at the plate too, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and anchoring the middle of the order. Louisville also made things happen on the bases, swiping four bags and playing clean defensively with no errors. Campbell led the charge in the field as well, logging nine chances.

Champion got a few bright spots at the plate, with a couple RBIs scattered between two hitters and a multi-hit game from Ava Sylvester, but they couldn’t put together a big inning to respond.

Louisville heads to Triway on Friday, while Champion will regroup for a Saturday doubleheader at home against Canton Hoover starting at 11.

HOBAN GETS SECOND STRAIGHT OVER THE LEOPARDS

AKRON OH— Hoban wasted no time flexing their muscle on Tuesday, jumping on Louisville early and never letting up in an 8-0 shutout win.

The Knights set the tone right out of the gate. Andrew Karhoff smoked a two-run double in the first, and Breyan Stewart followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0 before Louisville could blink.

Brady Wachter kept the offense rolling in the third, ripping a triple to center to plate two more. In the fourth, Stewart launched a solo shot and Colt Andrews drove in another on a double play ball, pushing the lead to 7-0.

Karhoff was just as sharp on the mound as he was at the plate. The righty threw six scoreless innings, scattering three hits and striking out six while keeping Louisville hitters off balance all game long. Peyton Weigand came in to finish it off with a clean inning of relief.

Wachter, Karhoff, and Stewart each had a pair of hits and two RBI to lead the charge. The Knights worked the count all day, drawing seven walks, with Grady Falkenstein picking up two of them. Nico Cella was a menace on the bases, swiping three bags as Hoban racked up four steals overall.

Louisville managed four hits in the game but couldn’t string anything together. They turned one double play defensively, but the damage had already been done. Hoban heads to Steele on Thursday with momentum on their side and all phases clicking.

LOUISVILLE CANCELS AVIATOR’S FLIGHT PLAN

LOUISVILLE OH— A quiet game turned into a blowout in a hurry Monday as Louisville broke things wide open with a six-run sixth to roll past Alliance, 11-2.

The Leopards jumped out early thanks to Bailee Griffith, who ripped a two-run single in the first to put them on the board. But it was that sixth inning surge that really buried the Aviators. Leah Claugus started the rally with an RBI single, Griffith added two more to her total, and Taylor Thompson capped it off with a bases-clearing knock that brought in three.

Griffith finished with four RBI on the night, going 2-for-4 and doing serious damage from the heart of the order. Katelynn Miller led all hitters with a 3-for-4 showing, while Claugus, Addy Campbell, and Kaitlin Twinem all had multi-hit games.

Taylor Schneider was steady in the circle, going the distance with seven punchouts across seven innings. She gave up seven hits and two runs (one earned) but never let Alliance get into a rhythm. Louisville’s defense had her back all night.

Alliance had some bright spots—Tashia Henderson and Lydia Clair each picked up two hits, and the Aviators showed good patience with five walks. But once that sixth inning wave hit, there was no stopping Louisville. Next up for the Leopards: a road trip to Champion on Wednesday.

MOONEY SHOWS GUTS AGAINST THE LEOPARDS

YOUNGSTOWN OH-  The Mooney girls lacrosse squad gutted out a 10-9 win over Louisville Monday night, leaning on some big-time efforts on both ends of the field.

Molly Simons led the charge with four goals and five ground balls, while Natalie Blasko kept the offense humming with three goals, a helper, and eight draw controls to keep Mooney in possession all night. Sophia Rotunno chipped in two goals, an assist, and five ground balls to keep the pressure on.

Lexi Italiano added a goal and an assist, and Gabby Hardaway punched one into the back of the net to round out the scoring.

In the cage, Liviah Hunt and Ava Weeks split time, combining for 11 saves to lock down the win when it mattered most. Mooney is back in action Wednesday, hosting Green at 6:30 p.m.

GRADISHAR HITS FOR THE CYCLE IN CHAMPION SWEEP

WARREN OH-  Champion put on a show Monday, blasting Liberty twice and flexing both their power at the plate and dominance in the circle.

Adalyn McIntosh was a nightmare for Liberty in the opener, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a homer, a double, and a single as Champion rolled to a 16-0 win.

The Flashes didn’t waste any time. Taylor Rouan tripled to open the scoring in the first, and then the floodgates opened in the second. Champion dropped seven more runs, highlighted by a two-run bomb from McIntosh and big doubles from Sam Strock and Ava Sylvester.

Champion poured it on again in the third, racking up eight more runs on nine hits. Strock tripled home two, McIntosh doubled in another, and Josie Perhach and Haley Bungard both doubled to keep the hit parade rolling.

Gabby Gradishar was lights out in the circle, fanning 10 in four shutout innings while giving up just two hits and walking none.

Champion finished with 17 hits in the game, with Sylvester, McIntosh, and Rouan each stacking three hits. Strock led the RBI party with four.

If Game 1 wasn’t enough, Gabby Gradishar made sure Game 2 left no doubt — hitting for the cycle and leading Champion to a 12-0 win to cap off the sweep.

Gradishar got the party started with a solo shot to center in the third, then added a triple in the fourth, a double in the fifth, and a single in the first. It was a complete clinic at the plate.

Champion kept the pressure on from the start, taking advantage of a Liberty error and a groundout to go up 2-0 early. They broke it open in the third with four more runs, then buried Liberty in the fifth with five hits and five more runs, including RBI knocks from Sylvester, Perhach, Strock, and Rouan.

McIntosh took the ball in Game 2 and carved up Liberty, striking out nine and allowing just one hit in five shutout innings.

Champion racked up 14 hits in the second game, with Strock, Sylvester, and Rouan each driving in a pair. The Flashes also ran wild on the bases, swiping four bags. Champion will look to keep the bats hot when they welcome Louisville on Wednesday.
