THE HERO’S CAPE FITS BARTLETT IN LAKEVIEW WALK OFF

CANFIELD OH- Lakeview walked it off in style Wednesday night, taking down South Range 6-5 in extras thanks to a clutch single in the bottom of the eighth.

With the game locked at 5-5, Kennedy Bartlett came through with the game-winner—lacing a base hit that sent the Bulldogs pouring out of the dugout in celebration.

Lakeview jumped out early, plating two in the first on a sac bunt and a liner down the left field line. They stretched the lead to four by the third thanks to a two-run knock from Hallie Capan and looked in control.

But South Range had other plans. The Raiders chipped away with a two-run bomb in the fifth, then tied things up in the seventh on a sac fly and an RBI double to send it to extras. That set the stage for the dramatics.

Mackenzie Stowe added a solo shot for Lakeview in the fifth, keeping the Bulldogs just ahead long enough to give them a shot in the eighth.

Isabella Isenberg went the distance in the circle for Lakeview, grinding through eight innings while scattering 10 hits and striking out three to earn the win.

Offensively, Lakeview pounded out 14 hits. Kalyssa Werner was unstoppable at the top of the lineup, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bags. Capan knocked in a pair, and Bartlett, Rylee Barnot, and Stowe all had multi-hit nights.

South Range racked up 10 hits of their own, with Sophia Brogan and Heidi Bartels each collecting three. Jayli Wilt provided the power with a two-run blast and led the team with two RBIs. Next up: Lakeview hosts Girard on Monday, while South Range heads to Poland for a Thursday showdown.

RANGE HOLDS BASH AT THE BEACH

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- South Range grabbed the lead early and never let it go Monday, rolling past Greenfield 10-3.

The Raiders broke through in the second inning when Nico Papuga lined into a fielder’s choice to bring in a run, Dylan Smesko ripped a single down the line, Lincoln Cleevely shot one the other way, and Gaven Nagy blasted an RBI double to center.

The third inning was the real backbreaker. Papuga crushed a two-run triple, Smesko worked a bases-loaded walk, Cleevely doubled in another, and Nagy capped it off with a run-scoring single. By the time the dust settled, South Range had hung five more runs on the board.

Brennen Klasovsky handled the rest. The righty went the distance, tossing seven innings and giving up seven hits and three runs, striking out six without walking a batter.

At the plate, South Range racked up 10 hits. Nagy stayed hot, going 3-for-4, while Cleevely added a pair of knocks. Papuga drove in three runs despite just one hit, showing off some clutch swings out of the seven-hole. The Raiders also made some noise on the bases, swiping five bags.

For Greenfield, Josef Popowitch drove in two runs and Clark Johnson chipped in with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace.

South Range is back in action Tuesday at home against Central Valley Academy.
