COLUMBIANA HOLDS OFF LISBON TO TAKE EOAC LEAD

AKRON, OH- Columbiana (8-4, 6-0 EOAC) took sole possession of first place in the EOAC defeating Lisbon (5-6, 5-1) 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Canal Park in Akron.

Columbiana pounded out 10 hits and drew five walks but managed only four runs due to some timely defense by the Blue Devils.  Twice Lisbon was able to end innings with the bases loaded on double plays to stop any rally by the Clippers.  However, one run was all Columbiana needed as Zach Pleska threw a gem in his five innings of work.  Pleska (2-0) allowed only two hits while striking out 10 and walking five.  Logan Hoschar would close out the last two innings not giving up a hit and striking out one in the victory.

Offensively, Trevor Dearing and Tyler Andersen each had two hits and Cameron Sloan reached base four times including a single, two walks, and a hit by pitch. Seth Spooner doubled for Columbiana.

Columbiana and Lisbon will close out their two-game series on Tuesday at Firestone Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

LISBON SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH DAVE CRISMON

LISBON OH- The Lisbon Blue Devils softball team are off to a fantastic start, especially inside the EOAC. The Blue Devils figure to be a real contender in the conference, and have the pieces to make a deep run in the postseason. Lisbon made an early statement in the EOAC this week with a dominating season sweep of United. The Eagles had score 39 runs in their young season heading into that series, but the Devils ended all that. Lisbon beat United by a combined 36-4. Lisbon now has to bounce back off a tough loss to Ursuline in their midweek non conference game.  Lisbon gets back in to league play with a two game stretch against East Palestine to open the week.

The head coach of the Blue Devils Dave Crismon was kind enough to dial in to YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about the Blue Devils season so far. He discusses his senior leaders, how deep his lineup is, and much more. The Lisbon community loves their softball, and now they have an exclusive inside look of the program with Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Dave Crismon.
