LISBON STAYS PERFECT IN THE CONFERENCE FOR HUCKSHOLD’S 200TH WIN

Lisbon continued their impressive season with a 51-37 victory over Valley Christian, securing their second win over the Eagles this season and maintaining an undefeated record in the EOAC. The win also marked a milestone for Lisbon head coach Chris Huckshold, reaching his 200th career victory.

Lisbon’s offensive charge was led by Trevor Siefke, who delivered an outstanding performance with 26 points. Tate Wallen and Hunter Dailey also contributed to the scoring effort, adding 9 and 7 points, respectively.

Valley Christian fought hard, with Alex Green leading their scoring efforts with 11 points. Alfred Coward and Deion Miller added 10 and 8 points, respectively.

Lisbon (12-2) looks to continue their success on Friday against Leetonia, while Valley Christian (7-6) hits the road to face Columbiana on the same night.

BLUE DEVILS TOO HOT FOR VALLEY CHRISTIAN TO HANDLE

LISBON OH- In a decisive matchup on Monday night, Lisbon proved to be more than Valley Christian could handle, steamrolling to a commanding 32-12 victory.

Morgan Lively led Lisbon’s offensive charge with an impressive 17 points. Lylah Brown contributed 2 points, showcasing exceptional performance with 18 rebounds and 5 steals.

Valley Christian’s offensive efforts were led by Foyhan Levy, who contributed 6 points.

Lisbon (4-11) will take their momentum on the road, traveling to face Leetonia on Thursday. Meanwhile, Valley Christian (1-14) is set to play against Columbiana on Thursday, aiming for a positive turn of fortunes in their upcoming matchup.

BLUE DEVILS DON’T GIVE UP ANY GROUND

EAST PALESTINE OH- In an impressive display on Friday night, Lisbon maintained their unbeaten streak in the EOAC, overpowering East Palestine with a final score of 82-54.

Key contributors for Lisbon included Trevor Siefke, leading the scoring with 27 points, followed by Hunter Dailey with 16 points and Alex Schreffler contributing 15 points. Luke Kraft and Tate Wallen added to the well-rounded performance with 11 and 10 points, respectively. East Palestine’s efforts were led by RJ May with 19 points, and Owen Jurjavcic and Drew Bycroft contributing 11 and 8 points.

With an 11-2 record, Lisbon looks ahead to their next challenge on Friday against Columbiana. East Palestine, standing at 3-8, is set to play against the Academy of Urban Scholars on Tuesday.

LADY BULLDOGS OPENING THE PRESENT IN WIN

EAST PALESTINE, OH- There are many that look at the 2024 East Palestine Girls Basketball roster and wonder what the future will look like, and the  exciting potential it has in Bulldog Country.  Then there’s the actual roster this season that realizes that there is no time like the present to put potential on full display.  That was apparent on Thursday night in EP as the Lady Bulldogs showcased a true team victory to the tune of 38-29 over EOAC rival, Lisbon.

Senior Leila Martin helped EP shake off a slow start by leading all scorers with 17 points, and hustled on both sides of the floor.  Freshman Alivia Magness was a bright light for the Bulldogs as well, and she tallied seven points in victory.  Senior Gabby Andre had a pair of three-pointers that dazzled all in attendance as well, while freshman Marley Blythe chipped in 4 points in a great effort.

Lisbon was led by Layla Brown who was all over the floor and contributed 12 points on the evening. Morgan Lively was contested by double-teams throughout the night but was still able to post 9 points, while Alyssa Wells and Brooklyn Cousins were held to 3 points apiece.

The Lady Bulldogs improve to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference, while Lisbon drops to 3-9 and 2-6 in the EOAC.

LISBON STILL IN FRONT OF THE EOAC

LISBON OH- Maintaining their unblemished record in the EOAC, Lisbon secured a hard-fought 47-39 victory over United on Tuesday night.

Trevor Siefke led the Lisbon charge with 14 points, supported by Hunter Dailey with 9 points and Luke Kraft with 6 points.

United, though facing a tough challenge, showcased strong individual performances, with Trent Ellyson scoring a game-high 17 points and Luke Courtney contributing 13 points. Beau Eichler added 5 points to the effort.

With this win, Lisbon extends their impressive record to 9-2, remaining undefeated in the conference. They now set their sights on the quest for a conference title as they travel to East Palestine on Friday. United, standing at 4-5, will return home to host Valley Christian in their upcoming Friday matchup, aiming to bounce back from the defeat.

UNITED PERCHED ATOP EOAC AFTER LISBON WIN

LISBON, OH- United came in tied with Columbiana atop the girl’s standings in the EOAC, and Lisbon had hopes to play spoiler heading into Monday’s contest.  Unfortunately for the Lady Devils, those hopes were dashed early in the game with the relentless attack from the Lady Eagles to the tune of 46-18.

Lisbon kept things tight with some early points, including a big three from Brooklyn Cousins to give the Lady Devils an early lead, but the second-chance opportunities for United were just too much.  The Lady Eagles have 6 players listed as 5’10 or above on their roster- and the made the most of it on Monday night.

One of those players, senior Grace Knight, finished with a game-high 23 points in the victory.  Knight’s jumper was spot on all night, and her teammates kept dishing the rock to her as she had open looks time after time.  Sam Lippiatt finished the game with 8 points on the night, the Eagles were supplemented with Grayson Kidder’s five points, and four-point performances from Katie Dees and Addy Blazer.

For Lisbon, Captain Morgan Lively lit up the scoreboard for 12 points to lead the Lady Devils.  Brooklyn Cousins had a three-pointer, and Amore Ramos had a bucket along with Jayden Smyth’s free throw.

United improves to 9-3 overall, and 7-1 in the conference, while Lisbon falls to 3-9 overall and 2-6 in the EOAC.

BEAVERS BLAST THEIR WAY PAST LISBON

EAST LIVERPOOL OH- Beaver Local showcased their prowess on the court over the weekend, securing a commanding victory against Lisbon with a final score of 65-36.

Peyton Roberts led the offensive charge for Beaver Local, delivering an impressive 23-point performance. The team’s well-rounded effort featured notable contributions from Addison Eells with 13 points, Karsyn Bowyer with 7 points, and Bella McClevey adding 6 points.

On the opposing side, Lisbon’s Morgan Lively displayed resilience, tallying 19 points, with support from Brooklyn Cousins contributing 8 points.

The win propels Beaver Local to a 5-7 record, and they aim to sustain their momentum as they face Harrison Central on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lisbon, now standing at 3-8, seeks a rebound in their upcoming matchup against United on Monday.

LISBON STAYS UNBLEMISHED IN LEAGUE PLAY

LISBON OH- In a conference showdown, Lisbon maintained its undefeated record in the EOAC, securing a convincing 50-33 victory over Wellsville on their home court.

Lisbon’s offensive charge was led by Trevor Siefke and Alex Shreffler, both contributing 17 points to the team’s well-rounded performance. Hunter Dailey added 9 points to the scoring efforts.

Despite Wellsville’s Tyrell Watkins showcasing his skills with 16 points, Lisbon’s staunch defense and balanced scoring proved too much for the Tigers to overcome.

With this win, Lisbon moves to an impressive 9-2 record and will look to continue their winning streak as they host United on Tuesday. Wellsville aims to bounce back on Tuesday as they welcome Valley Christian, seeking to return to the victory column.

POPPELRITER PACES WELLSVILLE PAST LISBON

LISBON, OH- It always comes down to free throws.  Doesn’t it?

In a closely contested matchup between the Wellsville Tigers and the Lisbon Blue Devils, it was the Tigers who emerged victorious with a narrow 47-45 win. The game kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer, delivering high-intensity action and impressive performances from both squads.

Bella Poppelriter was fouled with 1.6 seconds to go in regulation tied at 45.  With the pressure on, the Wellsville junior stepped up to the line, and with ice in her veins, buried the game-winning shots.

The scoring tempo remained tight throughout the game, with Wellsville and Lisbon showcasing their skills on the court. The Tigers managed to secure the win with a balanced scoring effort, overcoming the Blue Devils in a hard-fought battle.

Leading the charge for Wellsville was Bella Poppelriter, whose impressive 27-point performance played a crucial role in the team’s success. Kaylee Rawson contributed 8 points, while Amiyah Powell added 6 to the Tigers’ total. Myleigh Jackson and Sam Drysdale also chipped in with 4 and 2 points, respectively, highlighting the team’s collective effort.

Lisbon put up a strong fight, with Brooklyn Cousins leading their scoring chart with 15 points. Morgan Lively and Alysa Wells added 12 and 7 points, respectively, as the Blue Devils tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter. Despite their efforts, Wellsville’s tenacious defense and clutch moments secured the narrow victory.

The box scores reveal the intensity of the matchup, with Wellsville maintaining their composure and converting crucial free throws down the stretch. Poppelriter’s four three-pointers added an extra dimension to the Tigers’ offensive arsenal, while Lisbon connected on three shots from beyond the arc.

On the other side, Wellsville will savor the hard-earned win and shift their focus to a home game against Valley Christian on Monday. SCHREFFLER’S BIG NIGHT PROPELS LISBON

SALINEVILLE, OH – The Lisbon Blue Devils traveled down to Southern Local on Tuesday night for an EOAC battle that would see just how talented the Blue Devils are this season. From the opening tip off the crowd could tell that it would be a special game. The Blue Devils jumped out to an early 24-7 first quarter lead behind Trevor Siefke’s 12 first quarter points. Once ahead Lisbon never looked back.

The second quarter featured a lot more scoring as Alex Schreffler started to heat up from beyond the arc as he would connect on five threes in the quarter to give Lisbon a 54-16 halftime advantage. The third and fourth quarters saw much of the same as Schreffler would continue to hit threes and Siefke would capitalize on his defensive steals en route to more scoring on his own. The fourth quarter saw Hunter Dailey come alive in the paint as well, scoring 8 points. Logan Stauffer chipped in a balanced scoring night as well with 10 points.

In the win, Trevor Siefke set the single game school record for steals with 14, as well as, Alex Schreffler finishing with 9 made threes which tied a school record held with Michael Davis (2020).

On the night, Lisbon was led by Schreffler who finished with 31 points, Siefke with 27 points, Stauffer with 10 points, and Hunter Dailey with 8 points.

Southern was led by Mason Pitts with 8 points.

The Lisbon Blue Devils will return to action on Wednesday, December 27th, in the KSA Holiday Tournament in Orlando, Florida as they will play Chamberlain High Schoool (FL), then Bishop Eustace Prep (NJ) on 12/28, and Hanover Park (NJ) on 12/29.

Southern returns to the court on Friday at home against the Edison Wildcats.
