SCHREFFLER’S BIG NIGHT PROPELS LISBON

SALINEVILLE, OH – The Lisbon Blue Devils traveled down to Southern Local on Tuesday night for an EOAC battle that would see just how talented the Blue Devils are this season. From the opening tip off the crowd could tell that it would be a special game. The Blue Devils jumped out to an early 24-7 first quarter lead behind Trevor Siefke’s 12 first quarter points. Once ahead Lisbon never looked back.

The second quarter featured a lot more scoring as Alex Schreffler started to heat up from beyond the arc as he would connect on five threes in the quarter to give Lisbon a 54-16 halftime advantage. The third and fourth quarters saw much of the same as Schreffler would continue to hit threes and Siefke would capitalize on his defensive steals en route to more scoring on his own. The fourth quarter saw Hunter Dailey come alive in the paint as well, scoring 8 points. Logan Stauffer chipped in a balanced scoring night as well with 10 points.

In the win, Trevor Siefke set the single game school record for steals with 14, as well as, Alex Schreffler finishing with 9 made threes which tied a school record held with Michael Davis (2020).

On the night, Lisbon was led by Schreffler who finished with 31 points, Siefke with 27 points, Stauffer with 10 points, and Hunter Dailey with 8 points.

Southern was led by Mason Pitts with 8 points.

The Lisbon Blue Devils will return to action on Wednesday, December 27th, in the KSA Holiday Tournament in Orlando, Florida as they will play Chamberlain High Schoool (FL), then Bishop Eustace Prep (NJ) on 12/28, and Hanover Park (NJ) on 12/29.

Southern returns to the court on Friday at home against the Edison Wildcats.

SHROADES HISTORIC NIGHT PAVES THE WAY FOR SOUTHERN

SALINEVILLE OH- Monday night marked a historic milestone for Southern Local as Ashley Shroades etched her name in the program’s record books. Shroades became the all-time leading scorer, surpassing the previous record of 1748 held by Lana Corbisello (78-82). Additionally, she claimed the title of the program’s leader in career assists, breaking Dana Mobley’s (95-98) record of 252 assists. Shroades now stands as the leading scorer in both the boys and girls programs, solidifying her status as the best player to come through Southern Local.

Adding to the significance of the night, Southern secured a 54-33 victory over a formidable Lisbon team. Shroades led the scoring charge with an outstanding 25 points, while Makenna Jones contributed 10 points, and Josie Stanley added 9 points.

Lisbon saw strong performances from Brooklyn Cousins with 13 points and Morgan Lively with 12 points.

Southern Local, fueled by Shroades’ historic achievement, looks ahead to their next matchup on January 4th at Valley Christian. Lisbon returns to the court on the same day, facing Wellsville, with both teams carrying the excitement and momentum from this memorable night.

LISBON RETURNS TO THEIR EXPLOSIVE WAYS

LISBON OH- Lisbon’s offense reclaimed its explosive form on Friday night, dominating Leetonia in an impressive 72-37 victory within the EOAC.

Leading the scoring charge for Lisbon, Trevor Siefke poured in an outstanding 20 points, while Alex Schreffler contributed 13 points and Luke Kraft added 10 points. Hunter Dailey and Austin Dailey also played crucial roles, chipping in 9 and 8 points, respectively.

Leetonia, facing a tough challenge, saw notable performances from Ashbee Merritt with 14 points and Carson Brock with 13 points.

With this convincing win, Lisbon extends their undefeated streak to 6-0, showcasing their prowess in the league. The team is set to carry this momentum on the road as they travel to Southern on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Leetonia, now at 1-4, will aim to regroup at home, facing Valley Christian in their upcoming matchup on Tuesday.

BLUE DEVILS WIN CLOSE BATTLE

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – In a hard fought battle between two EOAC heavyweights, the Lisbon Blue Devils traveled up to Valley Christian to battle out one of the most exciting games so far this season. The first quarter showcased both offenses taking swings at each other as the Blue Devils went up 18-14. Both teams took turns making impressive scoring runs as neither team seemed to take total control. As the second quarter came and went the two evenly matched opponents played to a stalemate as Lisbon maintained its four point advantage heading to the break, 25-21.

The third quarter featured much of the same as the Eagles did all they could to scratch and claw back into it as Coach Carroll turned up his defensive pressure only to see Lisbon respond to it. As the buzzer sounded, Valley Christian only trailed by three, 33-30 heading to the final frame. The fourth quarter set up to go down as one of the toughest battles yet as Valley Christian came out with an impressive trap to cut the Blue Devils lead to one. That one point lead maintained for a while as both squads hit an offensive dry spell that took up a good chunk of the quarter. Once Lisbon gained their footing, a couple of quick buckets all but wrapped up the victory. One final free throw from Trevor Siefke put Lisbon ahead 42-37 at the final buzzer.

For Valley Christian, Alex Green finished with 13 points and Deion Miller added in 12.

For Lisbon, Hunter Dailey led the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Trevor Siefke chipped in with 8 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Austin Dailey added in 8 points and 2 steals.

The Lisbon junior varsity team also picked up a victory, 33-29.

Up next for Valley Christian is another tough EOAC match up with the Columbiana Clippers coming to town on Friday night. Lisbon will also return to action on Friday as they will host the Leetonia Bears.

LADY DEVILS PICK UP FIRST VICTORY

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- In a commanding performance, the Lisbon Devils’ girls basketball team secured their first victory of the season by defeating Valley Christian with a resounding scoreline of 56-23 in Monday’s matchup.

Leading the charge for Lisbon was Morgan Lively, who showcased an exceptional all-around performance with 23 points, 13 rebounds, five steals, and five blocks. Jayden Smyth also made significant contributions, adding 10 points, six rebounds, and six steals to the team’s winning effort. Brooklyn Cousins played a pivotal role, tallying seven assists for the Devils.

Valley spread their offensive wealth between Mikayla Crum, and Ashley Gonzalez’s six points apiece.

The Lisbon junior varsity team also emerged victorious, winning the two-quarter game 16-10, with Jayden Smyth leading the scoring with eight points.

Lisbon’s upcoming challenge will be hosting Leetonia on Thursday, with the action kicking off with an eighth-grade game at 5 PM, followed by the varsity matchup.

LISBON WORKS THEIR WAY PAST COLUMBIANA

LISBON OH- In a challenging contest, Lisbon faced their first test of the season against EOAC rival Columbiana. Despite the Clippers’ staunch defense, Lisbon showcased resilience and determination, securing a hard-fought victory with a final score of 50-48.

Lisbon’s offensive efforts were led by Hunter Dailey, who contributed 17 points, and Trevor Siefke, who added 15 points to the scoreboard. Tate Wallen also made a valuable impact with 6 points.

Columbiana’s statistical standouts included Seth Struharik, who led their scoring with 16 points, followed by Maddox Brown with 9 points and Ian Less with 7 points.

LADY CLIPPERS FLY AWAY FROM LISBON

LISBON, OH – In a basketball clash between local rivals, the Columbiana Lady Clippers showcased their dominance, securing a convincing EOAC victory over the Lisbon Lady Blue Devils with a final score of 51-20. The first quarter set the tone for the game, with Columbiana taking a slim 12-9 lead. Averi Marshall led the charge, showcasing her scoring prowess early on. As the halftime buzzer sounded, Columbiana had extended their lead to 26-13. The Lady Clippers displayed a balanced offensive attack, with contributions from multiple players. Evy Rapp added to the scoring effort, highlighting Columbiana’s depth and versatility.

The third quarter further solidified Columbiana’s control of the game, as they widened the gap to 39-15. Averi Marshall continued to shine, finishing the game with an impressive 19 points. Evy Rapp’s steady performance, contributing 7 points, complemented Marshall’s scoring output and added to Columbiana’s success. On the opposing side, Jayden Smyth, Brooklyn Cousins, Morgan Lively led the offensive efforts for Lisbon. Smyth finishing the game with 7 points, Cousins and Lively both adding in 6 points.

Up next for the Lady Clippers will be a home match up with the Wellsville Lady Tigers on Monday, December 11th. The Lisbon Lady Blue Devils, also back in action on Monday, will travel to Valley Christian to take on the Lady Eagles.

BLUE DEVILS CAGE THE BULLDOGS

LISBON, OH – The Lisbon Blue Devils dominated the basketball court tonight, securing a resounding victory over EOAC foe, the East Palestine Bulldogs with a final score of 75-42. From the opening tip-off, Lisbon set the tone for the game, showcasing their offensive talent and defensive tenacity. The first quarter saw Lisbon racing to a 14-4 lead. The Blue Devils’ coordinated efforts on both ends of the court left the Bulldogs struggling to find a rhythm.

At halftime, Lisbon maintained control with a 30-18 lead. The first-half performance underscored the team’s depth, as multiple players contributed to the scoring effort. The Bulldogs, led by Will Dixon and Kyler Bourne, faced a daunting task in overcoming Lisbon’s strong defensive presence.

The third quarter proved to be a pivotal period, with Lisbon extending their lead to 50-27. Trevor Siefke continued his scoring barrage, finishing the game with an impressive 25 points as the Blue Devils continued showcasing the well-rounded offensive capabilities.

Despite facing a formidable opponent, East Palestine’s Will Dixon fought valiantly, finishing the game with 13 points. Kyler Bourne added 9 points to the Bulldogs’ effort, but Lisbon’s relentless pace and efficient scoring made it challenging for East Palestine to mount a comeback.

As the final buzzer sounded, Lisbon celebrated a convincing 75-42 victory. Adding on to Siefke’s 25 points were Hunter Dailey with 17 and Austin Dailey with 13.

Up next for Lisbon will be a home matchup with their EOAC rivals, the Columbiana Clippers on Friday night. East Palestine will return home on Friday night to take on the Valley Christian Eagles.

LADY BULLDOGS CLAW OUT A CLOSE WIN

LISBON, OH – In a closely contested EOAC matchup, the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs secured a narrow victory over the Lisbon Lady Blue Devils with a final score of 39-36. The game unfolded with intensity, featuring standout performances from both teams.

As the game unfolded, it became clear that every basket and defensive play would be crucial. The first three quarters saw both teams exchanging leads, showcasing the competitive balance between the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Blue Devils. The intensity of the matchup kept fans on the edge of their seats. In the fourth quarter, it was Gabby Andre who rose to the occasion for East Palestine, displaying skill and composure, Andre made key plays on both ends of the court. Her contributions, whether in scoring, rebounding, or defensive stops, proved pivotal in East Palestine’s victory. Andre finished with a career high 19 points

Up next for Lisbon will be another home match up with the Columbiana Clippers on Thursday night. East Palestine returns to action on Wednesday at Toronto.

ROCKETS SNEAK OUT OF LISBON WITH A WIN

LISBON OH- In a closely contested matchup on Saturday afternoon, Lowellville ventured into Lisbon and emerged with a nail-biting 37-35 victory over the Blue Devils. The Rockets managed to secure the win despite Lisbon making strong comebacks in both the third and fourth quarters.

Lowellville’s scoring efforts were led by Serinna Tych and Gianna Palumbo, each contributing 11 points, while Isabella Wilrich added 8 points to the team’s total.

Lisbon’s offensive push was spearheaded by Morgan Lively, who notched an impressive 16 points, and Lylah Brown, who contributed 10 points.

The game’s intensity and the tight scoreline showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, with Lowellville ultimately holding on to clinch the hard-fought victory on the road.
