BLUE DEVILS TRIUMPH OVER SPRINGFIELD IN SECTIONAL SHOWDOWN

ELYRIA OH- Lisbon’s volleyball team displayed their determination and skill in a thrilling sectional semifinal matchup against Springfield, earning a hard-fought victory in four sets. The game unfolded with set scores of 25-18, 11-25, 25-11, and 25-20, marking a significant win for Lisbon as they advance in the tournament.

Lisbon’s standout players showcased their capabilities, contributing significantly to the team’s success. Maddie Marshalek delivered an all-around performance, earning 9 points, 8 kills, and 4 crucial blocks. Eliza Baker made her presence felt with 7 points, 8 kills, and 12 digs, further underlining her importance to the team. Kyrstin Reckner added 8 points and 12 digs, displaying her defensive prowess, while Izzy Lannon contributed with 5 kills and an impressive 18 digs.

On the Springfield side, Jameka Brungard played a pivotal role with 11 kills, 10 digs, and three blocks, showcasing her versatility. Baelyn Brungard was another offensive force, tallying 10 kills and adding 15 crucial digs. Mariah Jones delivered 7 kills and 10 digs, while Karigan Mullen facilitated the team’s offense with 26 assists and contributed 7 digs.

With this hard-fought victory, Lisbon advances further in the tournament, setting the stage for an exciting journey through the postseason. They are now set to face Richmond Heights on Saturday at Open Door Christian at 5:30 pm.

THE HEART BREAK KID

LISBON, OH- In the WWE for years, they had a wrestler named Shawn Michaels who was deemed “The Heart Break Kid.”  Known for his looks and demeanor, HBK broke the hearts of ladies who flocked to be with him all over the globe.  In Lisbon, there’s a different kind of heartbreak going on, and that’s for their opponents.  Leading the charge for the Blue Devils is their esteemed senior signal-caller, Trevor Siefke.

Trevor is no stranger to the game, with a wealth of experience under his belt. In this episode, we dive into Trevor’s journey and his incredible senior year with the Lisbon football team. From facing adversity in his earlier years to becoming a field general on the field, Trevor shares the lessons he’s learned and the selflessness he brings to the game.

We also discuss his plans for the future, whether it’s playing at the next level or pursuing a career in information technology. And let’s not forget about the upcoming playoffs, where Trevor and his team hope to make their mark after two decades without a playoff win.

Lisbon has opened eyes and shut down critics this year with their victories, and the way they’re handling their business in the EOAC.  With upsets over United, and Valley Christian, the Blue Devils have saddled up for a potential lengthy playoff push in 2023.

With Siefke under center, Big Blue will continue to put hearts in a blender and will take more records and smash those as well along the way.

LISBON TAKES MOMENTUM INTO TOURNAMENT TIME

LISBON OH- In a final regular-season matchup, Lisbon’s volleyball team displayed their prowess on the court, securing a resounding victory against Windham with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, and 25-23. It was a fitting conclusion to their regular campaign.

Lisbon’s players shone in various aspects of the game, contributing to the team’s impressive win. Izzy Lannon led the charge with 10 points and 5 crucial kills, showcasing her scoring ability. Stefanee Stacey exhibited her playmaking skills with 9 points and an impressive 17 assists. Maddie Marshalek made her presence felt with 5 kills and 2 well-timed blocks. Kyrstin Reckner and Eliza Baker were instrumental in the defensive effort, each amassing an impressive 15 digs.

With this triumph, Lisbon wraps up their regular season with a 10-11 record, poised to enter the tournament phase. Their next challenge awaits as they prepare to face Springfield in the first round of the tournaments. The matchup is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 PM at Elyria Open Door Christian.

SOUTHERN TURNS THE LIGHTS OUT ON LISBON

SALINEVILLE, OH- In a regular-season clash with a potential league championship bid on the line, Lisbon faced off against Southern Local in an intense football showdown with Southern emerging as the dominant force and securing a 42-14 victory.

The scoring unfolded as follows: Southern started strong with a touchdown by Ryan Exline, who executed a 1-yard run, followed by a successful Yago Alonso kick, putting them in the lead 7-0. Frank Shagnot continued Southern’s offensive push with an 8-yard run, and Alonso’s kick made it 14-0. Lisbon answered back with Trevor Siefke’s 1-yard run, bolstered by Ben Weber’s successful kick, closing the gap to 14-7.

Southern, however, maintained their momentum with Ryan Exline’s 3-yard run, and Alonso’s kick increased their lead to 21-7. The game’s excitement continued as Markell Smith returned a punt for a stunning 60-yard touchdown, and Alonso’s kick further extended Southern’s lead to 28-7. Ryan Exline’s 9-yard run and Frank Shagnot’s 6-yard run, both followed by Alonso’s kicks, helped Southern Local continue to dominate, leading 42-7.

Lisbon managed to put some points on the board with a 23-yard pass from Trevor Siefke to Logan Stauffer, followed by Ben Weber’s successful kick, resulting in a final score of 42-14.

Key game statistics revealed Southern’s dominance, as they accumulated 28 first downs compared to Lisbon’s 14. Their rushing game was particularly formidable, gaining 413 yards on 47 attempts, while Lisbon managed 78 yards on 25 attempts. In the passing game, Lisbon led with 161 yards on 13 completions, while Southern Local had 14 yards on one completion.

Southern’s defense displayed its strength by securing an interception, credited to Richie Sloan. Both teams experienced fumbles, with one lost by Lisbon and none by Southern Local.

Penalties played a role in the game, with Lisbon accumulating 26 yards on 3 infractions, while Southern Local had 38 penalty yards on 4 fouls. In punting, Lisbon managed 3 punts for an average of 37 yards, while Southern Local did not punt during the game.

PASTA KINGS; LISBON RUNS PAST LEETONIA

LEETONIA, OH- In an electrifying EOAC football contest between the Lisbon Blue Devils and the Leetonia Bears, fans were treated to a showcase of incredible talent and record-breaking performances on both sides of the field. As the final whistle blew, it was Lisbon who emerged victorious with a resounding 50-23 win, but the game was filled with standout moments.

The first quarter set the tone for the high-scoring affair. Leetonia got on the board early with a 67-yard pass, showing their offensive firepower. However, Lisbon’s Ashton Hinchliffe wasted no time responding. Hinchliffe, with over 1,000 rushing yards on the season, broke free for a spectacular 46-yard rushing touchdown, setting a record for rushing yards in a quarter. Ben Weber’s successful PAT evened the score at 7-7. Hinchliffe wasn’t done yet, as he continued to shine with a lightning-fast 47-yard rush, putting the Blue Devils ahead 14-7 after Weber’s PAT.

In the second quarter, Lisbon’s Trevor Siefke, who had accumulated over 1,000 passing yards on the season, showcased his dual-threat abilities with a 26-yard rushing touchdown, extending their lead to 21-7. Logan Stauffer then etched his name in the school record books with a remarkable 33-yard punt return for a touchdown. Hinchliffe added another rushing touchdown, and Lisbon took a commanding 37-7 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw Hinchliffe continue his incredible night with a zero-yard rushing touchdown, pushing the lead to 43-7 in favor of Lisbon.

Leetonia mounted a comeback effort in the fourth quarter, scoring multiple touchdowns and conversions, but Lisbon’s Logan Stauffer wasn’t finished making history. Stauffer, who had already set a school record for receiving yards in a season, connected with Trevor Siefke for a spectacular 71-yard touchdown pass, securing the 50-23 victory for the Blue Devils.

This game showcased the exceptional talents of both teams, with record-breaking performances and moments that will be remembered by fans and players alike. Lisbon celebrated their well-deserved win, while Leetonia displayed their resilience with a strong fourth-quarter showing. Football enthusiasts can’t help but look forward to more thrilling contests in the EOAC as the season progresses.

LISBON TAKES THE STING OUT OF THE HORNETS

LISBON OH- Lisbon showcased their resilience and determination in a hard-fought volleyball battle against Malvern, ultimately prevailing in a thrilling five-set contest. The scores reflected the intensity of the match, with Lisbon securing the victory with set scores of 26-24, 12-25, 19-25, 25-18, and 15-12.

The Lisbon squad delivered standout performances across the board. Eliza Baker emerged as a key contributor, tallying an impressive 28 points and showcasing her defensive prowess with 22 digs. Her ability to serve effectively and provide stability in the backline played a crucial role in Lisbon’s success.

Maddie Marshalek made her presence felt with 12 points and 15 kills, demonstrating her effectiveness in both serving and attacking. Her offensive firepower was a driving force in Lisbon’s performance.

Kyrstin Reckner was a defensive stalwart, recording an impressive 24 digs. Her ability to read and react to the opposition’s attacks helped keep the team competitive throughout the match.

Stefanee Stacey played a pivotal role as the team’s setter, amassing 26 assists and contributing 13 digs. Her ability to distribute the ball effectively and provide support defensively showcased her all-around skill set.
