LISBON OH- In another stunning display of skill and determination, the Lisbon football team secured a hard-fought 14-7 victory against Valley Christian. This win marked their second consecutive upset over a formidable opponent, solidifying their status as a team to watch in the season.

The 1st quarter was a defensive battle, resulting in a scoreless tie as both teams fought to gain the upper hand. However, the game began to heat up in the 2nd quarter when Valley Christian’s Ike Luke burst through with a 20-yard touchdown run, putting his team ahead 7-0.

In a jaw-dropping upset, the Lisbon Blue Devils secured a thrilling 21-20 victory over the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference (EOAC) frontrunners, the United Eagles.

From the outset, both teams exhibited their offensive prowess, treating the fans to an action-packed contest. The Lisbon Blue Devils struck first, making their presence felt early in the game. Trevor Siefke, Lisbon’s agile running back, powered through the defense for a determined 6-yard touchdown run. Ben Weber’s extra point was good, and Lisbon took an early 7-0 lead.

But the Clippers were not about to let their rivals dictate the game. Columbiana quickly responded with a remarkable 18-yard touchdown run by Spencer Pruitt, who showcased his speed and agility as he weaved through defenders. Aidan Radcliff’s precise extra point tied the game at 7-7.

The Columbiana team displayed a well-rounded performance, with several players making significant contributions. Kelsey Cameron led the charge with 12 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 ace, demonstrating her prowess at the net.

Ellie Jackson delivered a standout triple-double performance, recording 10 kills, 14 assists, and 14 digs, showcasing her versatility and skill. EAST PALESTINE, OH-In an opening week EOAC football matchup, the Lisbon Blue Devils dominated the East Palestine Bulldogs in the second half of the contest, securing a convincing 37-7 victory.

The first quarter set the tone for Lisbon’s dominance, with Trevor Siefke connecting with Logan Stauffer on a 60-yard pass, putting Lisbon on the scoreboard early. Ben Weber added the extra point, and Lisbon led 7-0.

BLUE DEVILS BOW OUT

BRISTOLVILLE, OHIO- Nothing came easy for the Lisbon Devils on Thursday, as they fell 10-3 to Bristol in the second round of the division IV statewide tournament.

The Devils fired up the offense in the second inning, when Haiden Colvin singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, but Bristol pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning when an error scored one run for Bristol and Jo Miller singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Kohler took the win for Bristol as he went six and a third innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out 12. Williams threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Paxton Henthorne led things as the plate for Lisbon going 2 for 3, while Brady Carpenter was on the pitcher’s mound for the Devils as he went six innings, allowing ten runs on 13 hits and striking out five.
