ST JOHN RALLIES PAST RED DEVILS

Ashtabula, OH- In a thrilling showdown on Monday, the St. John Heralds emerged victorious over the Lordstown Red Devils with a final score of 9-6. Leading the charge was the unstoppable Rylee Frasure, who went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, showcasing her prowess with a double in the third inning and singles in the first and fourth innings.

The Heralds wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with Isabelle Stern’s triple in the first inning driving in a crucial run. However, Lordstown swiftly responded, seizing a 3-1 lead in the second inning courtesy of Folesler’s timely single and an error.

Despite Lordstown extending their lead to 4-1 in the third inning with Livkwar’s single, the resilient Heralds staged a remarkable comeback in the fourth inning. Frasure’s single coupled with a defensive error allowed St. John to reclaim the lead.

The game remained tense as Berry’s triple for Lordstown tied the score at five in the fifth inning, but Debernardo’s double propelled them ahead 6-5 in the sixth. However, the Fighting Herald spirit prevailed in the bottom of the sixth, with Stern’s single driving in two crucial runs, followed by Caitlyn Carney’s single adding another run to the tally.

Pitcher Isabelle Holler showcased her talent, earning the win after a solid performance, while Alyssa Cevera secured the save for St. John. Our team’s offense was firing on all cylinders, collecting an impressive 12 hits, with Stern and Frasure leading the charge, each securing three hits and contributing significantly to our victory.

With eyes set on the next challenge, the Heralds look forward to their upcoming game against Chalker on Tuesday, poised to carry forward the momentum from this hard-fought win.

HERALDS TAKE DOWN THE RED DEVILS AT HOME

Saybrook, OH- In a hard-fought battle on the court, the St. John Heralds emerged victorious against the Lordstown Red Devils with a final score of 58-47. The Heralds showcased their resilience and determination, overcoming challenges posed by injuries throughout the game.

The Heralds will face the Red Devils once again in a rematch, this time on the road, scheduled for February 8, 2024. LADY HERALDS SHINE BRIGHT ON HOMECOURT

Saybrook, OH- In a commanding display of skill and teamwork, the St. John Heralds soared to victory against the Lordstown Red Devils with a resounding final score of 59-16. The Heralds dominated every quarter, leaving their opponents struggling to keep pace in a game that showcased the talent and determination of the St. John squad.

  • First Quarter: St. John Heralds wasted no time in establishing their dominance, amassing an impressive 22 points. The Lordstown Red Devils, on the other hand, struggled to find their footing, managing only 3 points in the opening quarter.
  • Second Quarter: The Heralds continued to build on their lead, adding 19 points to their total. Lordstown faced a tough defensive challenge from St. John, contributing to their minimal 5-point gain in the second quarter.
  • Third Quarter: Despite the Red Devils’ efforts, St. John extended their lead with another 12 points. The Heralds showcased both offensive prowess and a solid defense, limiting Lordstown to just 5 points.

Upcoming Games:

The St. John Heralds (7-9) are set to host the Maplewood Rockets (9-6) on January 29, 2024. The Rockets will be looking for a rebound after a recent 43-33 loss to the Brookfield Warriors.

The struggling Lordstown Red Devils (0-16) will play at home against the Chalker Wildcats (1-7) on the same date. The Wildcats, coming off a tough 55-12 loss to the Windham Bombers, provide an opportunity for the Red Devils to regroup and seek their first win of the season.

The Heralds and the Red Devils are gearing up for an exciting set of matchups, and fans can expect thrilling basketball action as the season unfolds.

BADGER GETS THEIR SEASON STARTED

KINSMAN, OHIO- The Badger Braves started the season off on a high note as they took down Lordstown 10-0 in five innings of play.

The Braves were led by Brad Hamilton who went for 2 at the plate and as well as being a dominant force on the pitchers mound striking out 11 men at the plate and only allowing 3 hits. The Braves were also dominant on the base running side of things as they finished the game with a total of 12  stolen bases.

The Braves will look to keep the momentum going when they take on Bristol on Wednesday.

HAMILTON BARRELS HIS WAY TO 1000

KINSMAN,OHIO- What a night it was in little Kinsman, Ohio as the Badger Braves took on the Lordstown Devils. The man of the night was Brad Hamilton, who dropped 38 points and secured his spot in the Badger record books by reaching 1,000 career points.

Hamilton got hot fast and just went with the flow. Lewis flowers added 12 points and Duncan Moy finished with 6 points, which included to big dunks that got the Braves rolling.

The Braves went on to win 83-21 to improve to a 12-2 record and look to keep the momentum going when they take on the Heartland Christian Lions tomorrow.

RIDGE TAKES SENIOR NIGHT VICTORY

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Tonight was Senior Night in Mineral Ridge and Lordstown was the visiting team hoping to spoil the Senior Night festivities.  Lordstown would score the early first goal not quite 3 minutes in, the result of a very poor drop kick by the Rams keeper.  But the Rams would not be undone by the early mistake, taking control of the game and scoring 5 goals to end the game 5-1.

The Rams would like to recognize their Senior Members, Clayton Butler, Elias Clarke, Nate Colburn, Audri Gaydosh, Donny Ladd and Teagan Maglis.  We wish you the best in the future!

RED DEVILS GET BACK TO WINNING

CAMPBELL OH-  Wednesday night volleyball action saw the Red Devils of Lordstown visiting the Red Devils of Campbell Memorial in an early season matchup. Lordstown came out of the gates with the first point of the game, gaining the only advantage they would have all night long. After getting the first point, Lordstown surrendered the next to Campbell who would then take the ball and get off to a 6-1 start in the first set thanks to some excellent serves from #27 Angeliz Diaz and some sensational spikes from the Red Devils leading lady #12 Kendall Brunn. Campbell continued to extend their lead pushing ahead by double-digits before Lordstown would close the deficit to under five. Campbell narrowly took the first set 25-19.

The first set was the closest of the night. Mistakes and miscommunications sealed Lordstown’s fate on the night as they would go on to score just 11 points as #4 Cyra Cross and #7 Kayla Coleman-Clark took control of the offense along with #12 Kendall Brunn dominating this second set. They would go on to take it 25-11. Set 3 didn’t go Lordstown’s way either as they were held under 10 points for the majority of the set before Campbell let of the gas with a 24-10 point lead surrendering 5 straight to Lordstown before finally closing the third set 25-15.

Campbell claims a 2-1 record to start the early season and will host the Garfield Lady G-Men on Thursday. Lordstown falls to 0-2 and have still yet to win a set on the season. They will stay on the road and take on the Bristol Bears on Thursday.

TIGERS WASTE NO TIME IN THEIR SECTIONAL FINAL

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield earned their way to a 2 seed in the district with a fantastic regular season. As the second seed they get the benefit of being the top seed in their own district bracket. Sometimes that gives you some big mismatches in the early rounds. That was the case Saturdays as Springfield wasted little time winning a sectional title with a 62-7 win over Lordstown.

The Tigers had 10 players get themselves in the stat book. They were led by Jacey Mullen with 13 points. Kendall Maughan was also in double figures with 10. Peyton Klem contributed 9.

Springfiekd moves on to the Mineral Ridge district semifinal where they will match up with Lisbon. That game is slated for 6:00 at Mineral Ridge.

CLIPPERS PUT THE CLAMPS ON LORDSTOWN

COLUMBIANA OH- There wasn’t much of a question as to who was the better team between Columbiana and Lordstown on Saturday. The Clippers made quick work of Lordstown in sweeping fashion. (25-6 25-12 25-7)

Tori along got a very unique double double, finishing with 16 aces, and 10 digs. Julia Rapp led the offense with 9 kills, she also collected 3 aces, and a pair of blocks. Cameron Perkins finished with 7 assists, and a pair of kills.

Columbiana will look to stay hot Monday as they host Warren JFK.

HUBBARD HOLDS STRONG AGAINST LORDSTOWN

HUBBARD OH- The Hubbard girls soccer team got a commanding 6-2 victory over Lordstown on Wednesday night to continue their impressive season.

Marysa Chuey earned a hat trick scoring 3 goals for the Eagles. Ashlee Maiorano added a pair of goals to the cause. Kenna Reinard also found the back of the net. Chuey added 2 assists to her strong performance.

Hubbard returns to action Saturday as they travel to Ursuline.
