EAGLES BREAK OUT THE BROOMS AGAINST LORDSTOWN

LORDSTOWN OH- United made it a positive Saturday morning with a strong sweep over Lordstown. (25-7 25-12 25-9)

Tori Tschappatt served phenomenally for the Eagles. She tallied 13 aces on the night. She also added 5 kills. Madelynn Lucas led the assists category with 7. Taylor scope played good net defense totaling in 2 blocks. Grayson Kidder led the United offense with 7 kills.

United returns to league play on Tuesday as they’ll host Leetonia.

QUAKERS LEAVE LORDSTOWN OUT TO DRY

SALEM OH- The Salem girls tennis team earned a win over Lordstown 4-1 on Monday night. Here are the final scores:

Auburn Hamilton lost (0-6)(2-6)
Emma Hammers won (6-1)(6-1)
Maria Sargent won by forfeit
Laney Haas and Katie McFarland won (6-4)(6-0)
Lana Tonkinson and Kelly Humphreys won by forfeit

Salem stays home to host Marlington on Tuesday.

BLUE DEVILS LEAVE LORDSTOWN IN THE DUST

MCDONALD OH-

McDonald had all cylinders firing on offense on Tuesday, winning big over Lordstown 9-1

In the first inning, McDonald got their offense started. Andrew Cupan doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

The Blue Devils tallied four runs in the sixth inning. They scored their runs on a single by Cupan.

Miles Culp took the win for McDonald. The righty surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out eight. Logan Presco threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Presco recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

Jacob Fleming took the loss for Lordstown. The hurler allowed six hits and six runs over five innings, striking out five.

The Blue Devils scattered nine hits in the game. Culp, Cupan, and Joey Skowron all managed multiple hits. Skowron, Cupan, and Culp all had two hits to lead.

Caden Minor led Lordstown with two hits in two at bats.

BROOKFIELD BUSTS UP LORDSTOWN

BROOKFIELD OH-

Grace Schultz threw a gem on Wednesday for Brookfield, allowing zero runs and besting Lordstown by a score of 14-0

Brookfield got things moving in the first inning, when Schultz doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Brookfield tallied four runs in the fourth inning. Their offense in the inning was led by Jenae Pugh and Sophia Hook, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

A single by Madison Kihm in the second inning was a positive for Lordstown.

Schultz was the winning pitcher for Brookfield Warriors Varsity. The bulldog went five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one.

Julia Durig took the loss for Lordstown. The bulldog surrendered 14 runs on 13 hits over four innings, striking out one and walking one.

Brookfield totaled 13 hits in the game. Schultz, Pugh, Izzy Shingledecker, Hook, and Autumn Sirochman all managed multiple hits. Schultz went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Brookfield in hits.

Kihm led Lordstown with two hits in two at bats.

QUAKERS GET FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

SALEM OH-

The Salem Quakers Boys Tennis Team got their first win of the season against Lordstown. Lordstown got their 2 points by winning at #1 singles as senior Brock Pyles defeated junior Tyler Parker 6-1, 6-2, and at #1 doubles as seniors Jack Paisley and Aiden Force defeated Christian Chappell and Nick French 6-2, 6-2. Lordstown defaulted at #3 singles, and #2 doubles. The match came down to a tough 3-setter at #2 singles where Salem freshman Luke DeLand defeated senior Nick Allen 3-6, 6-0, 7-5.*Contributed By Keith Parker at salemathletics.org

OSBORN GETS 1000 IN HEARTLAND SWEEP

COLUMBIANA OH- Makayla Osborn tallied a career milestone Thursday with her 1,000th kill. The Lions uses her momentum to sweep Lordstown (25-10 25-11 25-9).

Osborn finished with 17 kills on the night to lead the Lions offense. That wasn’t all she did though, she racked on another career double double with 19 digs. She also served up an ace. Jessica Brunk was also in double digits with digs as she finished with 11.  Lydia Wilson was her normal self getting 31 assists.  Emma Hall also swung well finishing with 8 kills .

Heartland moves on to host McDonald on Monday.

EAGLES A CLASS ABOVE LORDSTOWN

LORDSTOWN OH- United got their ninth win of the season Monday night with a sweep of Lordstown on the road (25-21 25-21 25-21).

Tori Tschappatt once again led the Eagles in kills with 15. Savannah Burton served well racking up 4 aces, and also finishing with 5 kills. Taylor Cope had 3 aces, and she totaled 4 kills. Haley Dees ran the offense to perfection as she set up 25 assists.

United will look for double digit wins on Tuesday as they travel to Lisbon.

EAGLES BRING OUT BROOMS ON SENIOR NIGHT

HANOVERTON OH- United Volleyball is off to an impressive 3-0 start after a sweep of Lordstown during their senior celebration (25-17 25-18 25-14).

Tori Tschappatt led the Eagles in kills with 9. She also recorded 3 digs, 2 blocks, and an ace. Haley Dees set up 20 assists to run the Eagles offense. Brooklyn Smith led the Eagle defense in digs with 4.

United will return to the gym on Tuesday as they host Valley Christian.
