LEOPARDS MAKE A STATEMENT BEFORE TOURNAMENT DRAW

CANFIELD OH- Louisville made a significant statement on the road on Wednesday, as they traveled to Canfield and emerged with a hard-fought 5-4 victory, holding off a late Cardinal rally.

Louisville’s offense was led by Bailee Griffith, who went 2-3 at the plate and drove in a run. Kenzie Denzer, Matti Benson, and Brooke Haren each contributed with an RBI for Louisville.

On the mound, Anna Sirohman pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 3 batters

Canfield fought hard, with Jenna Triveri and Sydney Lutz each collecting 2 hits and scoring a run. Malena Toth reached base twice and scored a run, while Leah Figueroa made a big impact with a home run and 3 RBI.

Toth also pitched a strong game for Canfield, going the distance with 7 innings pitched, allowing 6 hits and just 1 earned run while striking out an impressive 11 batters and issuing no walks.

Despite Canfield’s late rally, Louisville’s early offensive production and solid pitching from Sirohman were enough to secure the narrow victory on the road, making a statement in the process.

BENSON SITS ATOP LOUISVILLE HOME RUN LIST

LOUISVILLE OH- Louisville wasted no time bouncing back from their previous game with an impressive 7-4 victory over Glen Oak on Friday. It was a night to remember for the Leopards, especially for senior Matti Benson, who made history by hitting her 32nd career home run, breaking the program record.

Benson’s milestone homer wasn’t the only highlight of the game, as she also contributed 2 RBIs, going 1-for-3 at the plate. Bailee Griffith added to the offensive firepower, going 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs, while Anna Sirohman went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI. Kaitlin Twinmen and Katelyn Miller also made their presence felt with multiple hits for Louisville.

On the mound, Taylor Schneider put on a solid performance, pitching 4.2 innings to secure the win. She tallied 3 strikeouts while giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits.

With this impressive win, Louisville continues to showcase their resilience and determination, proving that they’re a force to be reckoned with on the softball diamond. As they look ahead to future games, they’ll undoubtedly carry the momentum from this victory into their upcoming matchups.

STORMS WONT KEEP SZALAY FROM HER MILESTONE

It was a milestone night for Cardinal Mooney as they dodged rain all night on their way to victory. They came out firing on all cylinders, taking down Louisville with a decisive 16-5 victory and improving their record to a stellar 7-1. But the real standout of the night? Ella Szalay, who not only led the team but also hit a major milestone, notching her 200th career goal. Talk about impressive!

Szalay was an absolute force to be reckoned with, racking up 11 goals, 3 assists, and a slew of ground balls and draw controls. Natalie Blasko also made her mark with 4 goals, while Angelee Blasko dished out 2 assists, and Lainey Hunt chipped in with a goal of her own.

Frankie Cassese played a crucial role in maintaining possession, snagging 9 draw controls, while Alyssa Ray held it down in goal with 5 saves.

But there’s no time to rest on their laurels because Mooney is gearing up for a double-header on Saturday against Hawken. First up, they’ll take on Gilmour at 9am, followed by a matchup against Magnificat at 1pm. With their momentum from this win, they’re sure to be a force to be reckoned with on the field.

LOUISVILLE PREVAILS WITH THEIR BATS

LOUISVILLE OH- Bats were blistered as Louisville topped Lake 16-10 on Tuesday. The Leopards collected 16 hits, while the Blue Streaks had 11. Louisville got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lake committed an error, Bailee Griffith hit into a fielder’s choice, and Leah Claugus grounded out, each scoring one run. A double by Matti Benson extended the Louisville lead to 4-0 in the top of the second inning.

Louisville was able to add three more runs in the top of the fifth inning on four hits. Brooke Haren homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Benson doubled, scoring one run. Lake scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to left field by Olivia Draher.

Louisville scored five runs on four hits in the top of the seventh inning. Kaitlin Twinem singled, scoring one run, Benson doubled, scoring two runs, Anna Sirohman singled, scoring one run, and Addy Campbell hit into a double play, but one run scored.

Sirohman earned the win for the Leopards. The righty surrendered three hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Gianna Greathouse took the loss for Lake. The righty went four and one-third innings, allowing 11 runs (SiX earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking five. Katelyn Miller began the game for Louisville. She surrendered three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out none and walking three. Taylor Schneider appeared in relief.

The Leopards accumulated 16 hits in the game. Benson went 4-for-5 at the plate as the shortstop led the team with four runs batted in. Haren, Sirohman, Griffith, and Twinem each collected multiple hits. Louisville had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.

BENSON’S RECORD SETTING BOMB DOES IT FOR LOUISVILLE

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Matti Benson drove in four runs on two hits to lead Louisville past Ursuline 10-0 on Tuesday. Benson doubled in the fourth inning, scoring two runs, and hit a home run to center field in the fifth inning, scoring two. Her home run in the top of the 5th gave her the program record for career runs scored, and tied the career HR record at Louisville.  She already holds the program record for home runs in a season.

Louisville won thanks in part to six runs in the fourth inning. Bailee Griffith singled, scoring one run, Lilly Ditz induced Leah Claugus to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Brooke Haren singled, scoring one run, Kaitlin Twinem singled, scoring one run, and Benson doubled, scoring two runs.

Four more Leopards runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 10-0. Claugus singled, scoring one run, Haren singled, scoring one run, and Benson homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Taylor Schneider earned the win for Louisville. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Ditz led things off in the circle for Ursuline Varsity Irish. The right-handed pitcher allowed 11 hits and six runs over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking none.

Louisville piled up 15 hits in the game. Haren, the number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Kenzi Denzer, Twinem, and Griffith each collected multiple hits. The Leopards  turned one double play in the game.

Brooke O’palick and Brooke Burton each collected one hit for the Irish. They also  turned one double play in the game.

LOUISVILLE STAYS UNBEATEN

Bailee Griffith drove in four runs on four hits to lead Louisville past Northwestern 10-2 on Friday.

Griffith singled in the fourth scoring two, doubled in the third scoring one, and singled in the sixth scoring one. Katelyn Miller struck out 11 batters on the day. She also gave up four hits and two runs over seven innings while walking two.

Louisville got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Addy Campbell hit a sacrifice fly, and Northwestern committed an error, each scoring one run.

The Leopards added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kenzi Denzer singled, Griffith doubled, and Leah Claugus singled, each scoring one run.

Two more Leopards  runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 10-2. Matti Benson hit a solo home run to right field, and Griffith singled, scoring one run.

Taylor Wurst started the game for the Huskies. She surrendered eight hits and eight runs (four earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two.

Louisville accumulated 13 hits in the game. Denzer, Anna Sirohman, and Claugus each collected multiple hits. The Leopards were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Campbell had the most chances in the field with 11.

Gaby Cuber provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Huskies with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Wurst, Cuber, Smith, and Nussbaum each collected one hit. Northwestern turned one double play in the game.

LEOPARDS BUZZ THE BEES

ALLIANCE OH- In a thrilling district semifinal matchup on Wednesday night, the Louisville basketball team faced off against a resilient Medina squad. It was a hard-fought battle from start to finish, but Louisville managed to secure a hard-earned 49-44 victory, keeping their season dreams alive.

Led by standout performances from Tate Aljancic and Avery Anderjcik, who contributed 15 and 11 points respectively, Louisville displayed great resilience and determination throughout the game. Kolton Loy and Hayden Nigro also made crucial contributions, each adding 7 points to the scoreboard.

With this win, Louisville advances to its program’s first-ever district championship game in division 1, marking a historic moment for the team. This achievement is particularly significant as the Leopards have previously competed in division 2 in their five previous appearances in the district championship game.

Furthermore, the victory against Medina not only propelled Louisville into uncharted territory but also saw them tie the program’s record for most wins in a single season, with an impressive total of 23 victories.

Looking ahead, Louisville now eagerly anticipates their next challenge as they await the winner of the Canton McKinley vs. Glen Oak matchup. The district championship showdown is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 at Alliance High School.

RECORDS FALL IN LOUISVILLE RAMPAGE

LOUISVILLE OH- In a Sectional Final matchup that showcased their prowess on both ends of the court, the Louisville delivered a commanding performance to secure a resounding 74-37 victory over Chaney. The win not only propels Louisville to the district round but also ties the program record for the largest margin of victory in a tournament game, highlighting their dominance on the hardwood.

Leading the charge for Louisville was Brooke Haren, whose outstanding performance saw her pour in a game-high 27 points, setting a Louisville tournament game record in the process. Alongside her, Courtney Barwick added 22 points, surpassing her 1000th career point milestone in a memorable fashion. Their combined offensive firepower proved too much for Chaney to handle, as Louisville surged ahead and never looked back.

Contributing to Louisville’s balanced scoring effort was Taylor McCully, who chipped in 7 points to help bolster the team’s offensive output and extend their lead.

With this impressive win under their belts, Louisville now sets their sights on the district semifinals, where they will face off against Mentor on Tuesday at 7:30 at Valley Forge. As they prepare for their upcoming matchup, Louisville celebrates their dominant performance in the Sectional Final while remaining focused on the challenges that lie ahead in their pursuit of postseason success.
