MAC DOG IS OFF THE CHAIN

NORTH JACKSON OH- There’s nothing better than when you see an athlete emerge out of the shadows to become an incredible leader. Over the last two seasons, Jackson Milton’s Macayle Thornhill has done just that.  She has turned into one of the big names in the area.  Thornhill has worked her tail off and now the time put in is paying off.  As the Blue Jays take their steady rise up the ladder of the MVAC, Thornhill has been a big reason why. The biggest key to her success is the confidence she has grown into inside the circle.  Now Macayle is comfortable to throw any pitch in any count no matter the situation.  She knows exactly what she is capable of, and because of that she never backs down from a challenge.  Macayle’s softball IQ has also shown dramatic growth.  If she had to, you could bet that she would be able to call her own pitchers in the circle. She knows how to scout hitters, and understands the strategy of the game enough to know where to go.

Macayle has put in the numbers on both sides of the plate this season.  As a pitcher in the circle Thornhill has thrown 56.0 IP.  She has a 3-2 record with an ERA of 2.80.  She has struck out 55 and only walked 19.  Thornhill also hits .295 at the plate with 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 14 RBI.

Thornhill was kind enough to take the time to chat with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to talk about her season and career. They chat about her confidence boost, how much she’s learned about herself over the last two years, and much more. Check out the latest Jackson Milton Softball Player Profile only on YSN!

A THORN IN THE OPPONENT’S SIDE

NORTH JACKSON OH- Sometimes in life, and in sports you’ll find yourself in positions you didn’t expect. The doorway to opportunity presented itself to you. Jackson Milton’s Macayle Thornhill saw the door open, and walked right through it.

Thornhill did not come in to this season expecting to carry the bulk of her team’s innings pitched. Surely her, and her coaches saw this season as an opportunity to get some solid reps without the pressure of the majority of the innings. Due to injuries and some other circumstances here Macayle is leading the team in time spent in the circle, and she’s making the most out of every pitch. The growth that Thornhill has shown this season is remarkable, and she’s not close to being done.

Thornhill sits at 33.2 innings pitched at the moment. She has an ERA of 3.12. She has struck out 30 hitters. That’s very close to 1 strike out per inning. Thornhill also hits .333 at the plate with 10 RBI.

Macayle was gracious enough to spend some time on YSN’s Running Point to talk about her season. She chats with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about stepping into a leading roll, her personal goals, and much more. You simply have to check out the latest Jackson Milton player profile only on YSN.
