MARVELOUS MANNING

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Ursuline Irish have marched into Week 12 of the high school football season with a combination of skill and experience, and senior wideout Marc Manning possesses both qualities. Manning had a huge breakthrough moment offensively in last week’s 43-12 victory over Hawken in Round 1, when he caught a screen pass from Ursuline QB Jack Ericson and took it 66 yards to the house, which gave the Irish a huge momentum boost. Marc has also played a big role defensively for Ursuline this season, as he has intercepted two passes so far this year.

In this week’s Player Profile, Marc talks about last week’s victory over Hawken, this week’s upcoming matchup with Tallmadge, and more!

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Marc Manning has been a huge part of the success of the Ursuline Irish program during their quest to get back to the top of High School Football here in Northeast Ohio. After last year’s heartbreak in the state championship game, Manning made it a goal to help lead the Irish in the weight room and everything off-the-field, in hopes of getting over the hump this year. Alongside his Senior teammates, Ursuline has been on a crash course during the first few weeks, taking down some very quality football teams.

In this week’s Player Profile, Manning talks about last week’s gritty victory, what to look forward to this week, and more!

OFFENSE APLENTY: URSULINE OUTLASTS BISHOP HARTLEY

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Ursuline Offensive Coordinator John DeSantis had to feel like he was playing a video game on Thursday Night from his coach’s box atop Stambaugh Stadium.  His Irish offense accounted for 475 yards in a 62-58 victory over Bishop Hartley.

Yes, you read that right.

62-58.

The two teams combined for 120 points, 1,001 yards of total offense- and out of all of that, a tackle by Ty’Req Donlow on 4th and 1 with 32 seconds left in the game will be all many speak of.

Senior Irish signal-caller, Brady Shannon threw for 279 yards and 5 touchdowns, while doubling his attack on the ground with 97 yards and a score.  The tag team of Dean Boyd and Marc Manning patrolled the skies, Boyd ripped in six grabs for 129 yards and a score while Manning had a three-score night on five catches for 62 yards.

Ursuline (1-0) will take advantage of the extra day of rest, and prepare for Hickory as the Irish will travel to the Keystone State in Week 2.
