AMAZIN MAZIE
BOARDMAN OH- Mazie Kauffman has embraced her first year as an upperclassman with nothing but grit and determination. Every season, Mazie has grown into more of a leader, and now as a junior, she’s got her sights set on using this year to prepare for her senior season. Her work ethic is contagious, and the Spartans are feeling her presence more than ever.
When it comes to versatility, Mazie is the full package. She’s been a force in the back row, held down the middle, and can swing out as an outside hitter if needed. There’s nowhere on the court where Mazie isn’t a threat. Opposing offenses know they’ve got to bring their A-game when she’s on the floor because Mazie can make an impact from any position.
Mazie doesn’t just dominate on the volleyball court—she’s also a standout on the Boardman diving team. She excels in the pool, and her future in diving looks bright, with plans to continue her diving career in college. Her athleticism knows no bounds.
But Mazie’s not just an athlete—she’s heavily involved in the Boardman community as well. She’s part of Italian club, Big Spartan Little Spartan, student government, and student council, showing how well-rounded she is. Mazie’s the kind of student who doesn’t just settle for being great in one area—she’s excelling everywhere.
In the classroom, Mazie is just as determined. She’s holding down a 3.9 GPA, proving that she’s got the same drive and discipline off the court and out of the pool.
When asked what she values most about her volleyball teammates, Mazie said, “Our bond and how comfortable we are with each other. Out of volleyball, we all get together and hang out, and it’s a really good group of girls to be on the court with.”
Boardman is fortunate to have someone like Mazie representing them in athletics and in the halls. Be sure to catch her journey—on the court and in the pool—while you still can.
