LESS TALK, MOOREFIELD

CANFIELD, OH- The South Range Raiders show at Gangelo’s welcomed an exceptional guest this week, senior Asher Moorfield, whose multifaceted talents have made him a standout in both athletic and academic realms.

With 20-plus seniors on the South Range Raiders football team, Moorfield, who has known most of his teammates since third grade, reflects on the special bond they share. “It’s great to be part of everything,” he said about the team, which currently boasts a 6-0 record after a significant win over Poland.

Moorfield’s athletic contributions go beyond the football field. As a multi-sport athlete, he has recently excelled in the niche sport of trap shooting. Starting just this year, Moorfield impressively hit 35 out of 50 targets. His burgeoning skills in this unique sport are drawing attention, and he aspires to join the Hillsdale College trap shooting team, following in his brother’s footsteps.

Balancing his sports commitments with academics, Moorfield, a saxophone player and outdoor enthusiast, has ambitious plans for the future. He hopes to pursue a career in aerospace engineering or a similar field in mathematics, expressing a desire to work on airplanes or design new models.

Moorfield’s dedication and support from his family, particularly his mother’s constant presence on the sidelines and his grandfather’s long trips from Texas to watch him compete, resonate deeply with him. “It means a lot to see her support me with everything,” he reflected.

As he looks forward to graduation, Moorfield hopes to be remembered as “someone kind and supportive.” His myriad talents and grounded personality make it clear that he is well on his way to leaving a lasting legacy at South Range High School.

For now, Moorfield is enjoying his senior year, preparing for upcoming challenges both academically and athletically, and reflecting on the journey that has brought him here. His story serves as an inspiration, showcasing the power of passion, perseverance, and support from loved ones.
