LADY RAIDERS RING LIBERTY’S BELL
CANFIELD, OH- On Monday evening, the South Range Raiders showcased their depth and resilience with a convincing 56-26 victory over the Liberty Leopards. Coach Fishel’s strategy of utilizing an elongated rotation paid off, as the Raiders were able to maintain high energy levels throughout the game.
The Raiders were led by senior Taylor Dado, who put in an impressive performance with 12 points, consistently finding ways to score both inside and from the perimeter. Following closely behind were Sophia Lucente and Gwen Lowry, each contributing 8 points, demonstrating the team’s balanced offensive attack. Lowry’s presence in the paint created numerous scoring opportunities, while Lucente displayed her versatility on the floor.
Kensington Scott added to the offensive firepower with 6 points, including two three-pointers that helped establish an early lead for South Range. Ceci Foster and Kiera Winner both chipped in with 5 and 6 points, respectively, as the Raiders rotated players frequently to keep fresh legs on the court.
Despite the loss, the Leopards were led by Mia Benjamin, who scored 11 points, showing her skill in navigating through the Raiders’ defense. Other notable contributions came from Armani Franklin with 6 points and Qumara Watson with 4 points. However, Liberty struggled to keep pace with South Range’s relentless scoring and defensive pressure throughout the game.
The Raiders established control from the outset, jumping out to a significant lead by utilizing a fast-paced offense and a stifling defense that limited Liberty’s scoring opportunities. South Range’s depth was on full display as Coach Fishel was able to rotate players effectively, keeping the intensity high and allowing different players to step up at various points in the game.
The lead fluctuated as South Range continued to outscore Liberty in all four quarters, finishing strong with a decisive 30-point margin. The combination of teamwork, discipline, and strategic substitutions ultimately led to a solid victory for the Raiders.
Looking ahead, South Range will participate in the South Range Holiday Tournament starting Friday morning. This tournament will feature some of the top talent in the state and will be a true test for the Raiders as they seek to carry their momentum into the new competition.
