SALEM SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MICHAEL THORPE

SALEM OH- Quaker country, are you ready for spring? The girls that lace up their gloves on the softball diamond sure are.  The Quakers have a squad that is overflowing with returning experience that is hungry to prove that they belong in the local conversation.  You’ll find plenty of young experienced players that not only promise to do great things for Salem this year, but also for years to come.  They’ll create the building blocks to keep the program alive and well.

Salem is once again led by head coach Michael Thorpe. He was gracious enough to take the time to talk about the upcoming season with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig. SALEM OH- As we venture through the moth of March we get closer and closer to softball season. The last week of March will be full of games, and we can’t wait! We continue our spring sports previews by turning our glance to Salem softball.  The Quakers had an up and down season last year, and are looking to bottle the positives they built for the new year.  With a solid mix of returning and leaders and impressive newcomers, the Quakers look to open the eyes of the softball world this spring.  They open the season March 25th.

Head coach Michael Thorpe steps into another season at the helm in Salem. He took time out of his day to give us a preview of the upcoming season.  He talks with us about lessons learned from last season, some exciting newcomers looking to make some waves, and much more. SALEM SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH MICHAEL THORPE

SALEM OH- One word to describe Salem softball this season would definitely be resilient. Despite some tough losses along the way, Salem has managed to get back up time and time again. They are always focused on the next challenge at hand. They came home from a great trip to Tennessee and have had serious success back home.  The Quakers still have a great chance to achieve one of their big goals this year which is to match the program record for wins in a season with 15.

Coach Thorpe was able to take the time to come on Running Point this week to talk with Ty Bartell. He was sporting a pretty cool hair due, you’ll have to check it out. Ty also hears about some great stories from the trip, how the girls are stepping up this season, and much more. Quaker fans have to check out Episode 2 of Coach’s Corner with Michael Thorpe.

SALEM SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MICHAEL THORPE

SALEM OH- It was a tremendous winter season for the women of Salem. Their basketball team got further than any other under the YSN umbrella. They feel three wins shy of a state championship, but a lot they proved that there is a standard of success at Salem. Now the softball team will try to uphold that standard. The Quakers are bringing a lot back from last season, and look forward be just as competitive in a brutal EBC. Everything is pointing to positive vibes for the Quakers in the spring, but they’ll need the communities support behind them.

He talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about the tough league they play in, what the Quaker’s biggest strength might be, and so much more. HEADED HOME: SALEM LADY QUAKERS SOFTBALL PREVIEW

SALEM, OH – The Salem Lady Quakers are back in action after a COVID shortened 2020 season and head coach Michael Thorpe and the Lady Quakes couldn’t be more excited and eager to get back on the diamond!

Coach Thorpe will look to seniors Hannah Kelm and Dorothy Moore to lead the way for the Lady Quakers as they will look to partner up with the underclassmen and try to achieve their goal of breaking the school record for wins in a season. That record is at 15 wins, which was set two years ago. Salem will look to get things started on Saturday, March 27th, on the road at Warren G. Harding.

YSN’s own, BIlly McCartney and Quinn Puskar, had the opportunity to chat with Coach Thorpe this week to discuss the team and get a preview about some of the key players who will be making an impact on the field throughout the course of the season, what some of Coach’s expectations are for this season, and to talk about the excitement the Salem community has for this season of softball!
