RICHMOND OH- The Edison Wildcats have been a team with quite the story over the course of the past few seasons. A team that in 2019 was in a rebuilding point in their program. Going 0-10 in the regular season and going through rough waters during the campaign. In the odd 2020 COVID season, The Wildcats captured four victories, walking away with a well-improved record of 4-6. By 2021, Edison was in position to compete, winning seven games in the regular season and punching their ticket to the playoff as the #9. Dropping their playoff matchup to Manchester in 2021, questions remained in The Wildcat program became “how do they get better from here?”

A 9-0 start to the regular season in 2022 for Edison has them on the cusp of a complete turnaround in a four year span. Matching up with Indian Creek (1-8) for Week 10, The Wildcats look for an undefeated regular season. Already guaranteeing a home playoff matchup with the lowest possible seed for The Wildcats being #7 no matter the outcome of Week 10. Coach Collopy and crew will look to complete the regular season slate on top, with a defense that has shut opponents down throughout the year. Catch this EXCLUSIVE YSN interview with Coach Collopy, as The Edison Skipper stopped by Running Point to discuss the season so far, the goals going into playoffs, and the improvements needed to make a run.

RICHMOND OH- When talking about programs that have steadily improved over the course of the last few years, look no further than The Edison Wildcats. Only a few years removed from a 2019 season which, unfortunately, saw The Wildcats have an 0-10 season. However, a 3-5 campaign in the COVID year and a 8-4 year last season shows the improvements Edison has continued to make.

Of course credit goes to all the kids that have worked so hard to turn the program around, but thanks must also fall on the skipper Mike Collopy’s shoulders. Coach Collopy, a multiple sport coach that has seen plenty of success on the baseball field, has been a huge part in building the football program.

Starting off the season with a perfect 5-0 record, the improvements look like they are continuously being made for The Wildcats. Edison will have a tough road test against The Toronto Red Knights (4-1) on Friday, September 23rd.

Coach Collopy got the chance to stop by Running Point to discuss with Anthony and Ty about the takeaways from the first half of the season, the goals and improvements for the second half and the upcoming matchup with Toronto. All this and more in this edition of Coaches Corner, found EXCLUSIVELY on YSN!

RICHMOND OH- The Edison football program is in the middle of a massive turnaround. Just two seasons ago, and their last full 10 game season the Wildcats went 0-10. Last season, they put three wins up. Now in 2021, the Wildcats are 5-2 and sit at number 8 in the current computer polls. First year head coach Mike Collopy attributes the turnaround to his team’s leadership and buy in. The Wildcats are coming off a 34-24 win over East Liverpoool, and looking forward to a Week 8 battle with Harrison Central.

Coach Collopy took the time to join YSN’s Running Point this week to give some insights into the Wildcats. He talked with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about the program’s turnaround, the challenges ahead, and much more. Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner With Mike Collopy is live!
