YSU BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER W/ DAN BERTOLINI (EP 3)

After a trip to Tallahassee, Florida to take on the Number 6 ranked team in the nation, Coach Dan Bertolini and the Youngstown State Baseball Team are back home for a few days to refuel, refocus, and reunite.

Although the ‘Guins fell short in all three games of the series, they stood toe to toe for all the contests.  In fact, YSU had a lead in all three games against the Seminoles.

COACH’S CORNER SPECIAL: FLORIDA STATE’S MIKE MARTIN

When you wander with amazement inside the gates at Dick Howser Stadium on the campus of Florida State University, you realize one thing.  You’ve entered the house that Mike Martin built.

Martin, in his 40th and final season with the Seminoles, Martin is as focused as ever to make this season count.  In the recent series with Youngstown State Unversity, the Skipper collected the 1993rd victory of his career which continues to blaze the trail for the all-time winningest manager in College Baseball History.  In fact, there’s validation that hangs on the right-field fence in the form of enormous signage indicating that Florida State has not missed the NCAA tournament under Martin’s watch, as well as another sign that Martin has won AT LEAST 40 games each of his first 39 years with the program.

Unparalleled by any coach in history.

The other feature that makes Mike Martin a special human: his genuine joy for fellowship and people who love baseball.  We had the honor of meeting perhaps the greatest college baseball coach of all-time, and his hospitality was second to none, as well as everybody under the Martin-tree had the same approach.  Respect all, fear none.

YSN’s DJ Yokley and Steve Leslie caught up with Mike Martin on his turf, quite literally (Mike Martin Field) for a special edition Coach’s Corner with Florida State Coach Mike Martin on Your Sports Network.
