LADY RED DEVILS SPIKE THE COMPETITION

CAMPBELL, OH – The Campbell Memorial Lady Red Devils volleyball team is looking to take that next step in not only asserting themselves as one of the top teams in the MVAC but in the entire Mahoning Valley! The Lady Red Devils are currently 3-2 but had a three game winning streak this year too! MiLeena, a junior MH and MB, has been one of the top attackers on the team this season so far! Gabriela, a senior libero, has been leading the team in digs all season long!

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Gabriela and MiLeena this week at Tavern 26 to discuss their season so far, what they think Campbell Memorial can do this year and into the tournament, what Gabriela’s plans are for after high school, a rapid fire questionnaire where we get the opportunity to learn more about what makes these young ladies the people and players they are today, and so much more!

MILEENA’S WORTH A MILLION

STRUTHERS OH- The position of catcher is a hard one to step into at the varsity level even with experience. Now imagine coming into your freshman season and being told you’ll be the varsity catcher. That’s the situation Mileena Williams found herself in for Struthers. But the newcomer took the role in stride and has dazzled all season long.

Williams came into the year nervous about how she would gel with the Wildcats varsity team. She quickly discovered that the atmosphere of the program was nothing to fear. She has become comfortable in her role so fast that she is now one of the statistical leaders of the team. She has been a pleasant surprise for the entire Struthers coaching staff. She’s got plenty of time to keep progressing behind the dish, which should scare all of the Wildcats future opponents.

Williams was able to spend some time with YSN’s Running Point to talk about her experience this season. She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about her expectations coming in, everything that she learned during the year, and so much more. Make sure to catch up with the Wildcats in the latest Struthers softball player profile.
