THE BEST OF THE BUNCH

MINERAL RIDGE OH-  A No Hitter. A truly special moment in the sport of baseball, one that highlights many players careers as it is something you do not see too often in the sport. Unless, of course, your name is Mark Bunch. Then it starts to become a standard! That is exactly what we have been seeing out of Ram Country!  Mineral Ridge has been lighting it up this season under Head Coach Anthony Ragozine. Dodging the rain to the tune of a 13-4 (11-3) record, as they sit in second place behind Springfield in the conference!

However, it has been the pitching we have seen out of Mineral Ridge that has The Rams turning around the results of last season rather quickly.  With Mark Bunch being one of the guys that is leading the helm this season, he attributes a lot of what he learned in football that has made him into the leader he is today.  Logging a total of 28 innings pitched (IP) this season, Bunch has only given up 7 hits in the entire year! Holding opponents to a batting average of .080, a mark that shows nothing short of dominance!

Bunch is also leading all Rams pitchers in strikeouts (K) with a season total of 49, just shy of 2 per inning! Sitting as the #3 seed in Division 4’s Fairport Harbor District, Ridge is in The Sectional Final, and will await the winner of #18 Wellsville and #21 St. Thomas Aquinas. With so many good arms on this team, expect to see both Payton Zupko and Mark Bunch leading Mineral Ridge, as The Rams have their eyes on Canal Park! The Tournament kicks off for Ridge on Thursday, May 19th.

Until then, catch this EXCLUSIVE interview with Mineral Ridge senior Mark Bunch on YSNs Running Point.
