RAMS ARE STILL ON THE RUN

MINERAL RIDGE OH- In a dominating performance, Mineral Ridge made quick work of McDonald on Thursday, securing a decisive 71-22 victory and maintaining their strong position in the MVAC.

Sullivan Sandy led the scoring charge for Mineral Ridge with an impressive 20 points, supported by Ava Hulett contributing 16 points, and Gianna Gilbert, Lily Merolillo, Norah Schnieder, and Sam Aulet each adding points to the winning effort.

With this commanding win, Mineral Ridge (14-1) looks forward to a home non-conference game on Monday as they host Mogadore. Meanwhile, McDonald (5-7) will stay within the league, traveling to Sebring on Monday in pursuit of a rebound victory.

RIDGE RINGS THE VICTORY BELL AGAIN

In a thrilling non-conference showdown between two one-loss teams, Mineral Ridge emerged victorious, outlasting Columbiana with a final score of 45-39.

Mineral Ridge was led by Ava Hulett’s impressive performance, scoring 22 points, while Gianna Gilbert added 10 points and Ava Carkido contributed 7 points to secure the win.

Columbiana fought hard, with Ellie Venezia leading their efforts with 13 points, closely followed by Megan Moser with 12 points and Evy Rapp adding 5 points.

With this hard-fought triumph, Mineral Ridge advances to a stellar 13-1 record and gears up for their next challenge at home against McDonald on Thursday. Meanwhile, Columbiana, now 11-2, will aim to bounce back on Monday as they host Lowellville.

RIDGE GETS THEIR WINS TO A DOZEN

MINERAL RIDGE OH- In a dominating performance on Thursday night, Mineral Ridge secured their twelfth win of the season with a resounding victory over Sebring, finishing 63-19.

Sullivan Sandy led the charge with 14 points, followed by Ava Hulett with 10 points, Lily Merolillo with 8 points, Samantha Aulet with 7 points, and Norah Schnieder contributing 5 points.

With a standout record of 12-1, Mineral Ridge looks forward to their next challenge as they host Columbiana on Saturday.

MINERAL RIDGE STAYS ENERGIZED

NORTH JACKSON OH- Mineral Ridge asserted dominance in the MVAC, securing a convincing 59-37 victory over Jackson Milton. Ava Hulett led the charge with an impressive performance, contributing 22 points and 8 rebounds. Sullivan Sandy added 14 points, while Gianna Gilbert, Lily Merolillo, and Ava Carkido each chipped in with crucial points.

On the opposing side, Amani Yasin led Jackson Milton’s effort with 12 points, closely followed by Emma Johns with 10 points. Despite their contributions, Mineral Ridge’s early control of the game proved insurmountable for Jackson Milton.

With this win, Mineral Ridge now stands at an impressive 11-1 record and looks forward to hosting Sebring in their upcoming league play on Thursday. Jackson Milton, at 7-5, will hit the road to face Springfield in their next matchup on Thursday.

THE RAMS STAY IN THE HUNT

BERLIN CENTER, OH – Oh what a night! When Western Reserve welcomed Mineral Ridge to their fortress we all knew this game was going to be close but it was also just big since both teams came into this one tied for second in the MVAC Scarlet division and the winner would move on to own second place and allow them to stay one step behind Springfield for first. So knowing the stakes this game brought lets dive into the meat and potatoes of this fantastic matchup.

 

The first quarter started out fairly slow with only about 10 points being scored by the halfway point. It was clear something needed to change and thanks to the energy these kids had it didn’t take long for them to both start putting up points and get us to the score of 12-10 for the Blue Devils. Mineral Ridge saw Ava Hulett put up 4 points with Sam Aulet following behind her with a made 3 pointer. Western Reserve saw Angelina Cappabranea light up the hardwood with 5 points while Alyvia Hughes scored behind her with 4 points including 2 of 2 made free throws. 

 

Mineral Ridge clapped back in the second where they would match Reserve’s 1st quarter tally of 12 and keep the Blue Devils to scoring just 8. Western Reserve saw Kylee Ramsey put up 3 of 4 free throws and Cappabranea added another 3 to her total. Mineral Ridge found money in the second with Sullivan Sandy dropping two 3’s and Kelcee Dye making 2 of 2 tosses from the charity stripe. 

 

Western Reserve, down by 4 points after halftime came out swinging with a 5 point run that saw them take over the lead for a brief stint. Despite the explosive start to the half, Mineral Ridge managed to outscore Western Reserve 18-15 in the quarter. This quarter saw both teams rack up fouls quickly and was dominated from the free throw line. The Blue Devils went 9 for 12 as a team from the line including 4-for-4 from Cappabranea, 3-for-4 from Lisa Eichert and a solid 2-for-2 from Quincy Miller. Mineral Ridge struggled from the line only posting 4-for-10 as a team. Most of their scoring came from the paint with the exception of a 3 thrown in by Aulet.

 

Western Reserve needed to pick things up and they played a very tight and aggressive 4th that netted them 12 points to Mineral Ridge 8 which would allow the teams to tie 47-47 and force overtime. The Rams saw Gianna Gilbert score 4 more points on her night with the other 4 coming from both Hulett and Lilly Merolillo who both put up a 2. Western Reserve saw Hughes score 6 points with a 3 and a two pointer and a foul that allowed her to drain the and-1. Miller would also throw a 3-pointer into the mix.

 

Despite the great 4th quarter Reserve put up they couldn’t replicate the magic in overtime and only scored 7 points to the Rams 15. Isabella Mauro led her team in overtime with 4 points including 2 of 2 free throws cashed in. Ridge saw Aulet drop two 3’s and  hit 1 of 2 free throws in the extra frame and Hulett found 5 points as well.

 

Mineral Ridge came out on top in an exciting game and their players showed it with four of them posting 10 or more points: Gianna Gilbert with 10, Sam Aulet with 13, Sullivan Sandy with 14 and Ava Hulett with 15. Western Reserve showed their skill but just ran out of steam at the end, they were led by Alyvia Hughes with 10 points and Angelina Cappabranea with 13. Mineral Ridge (10-1) (4-1) continue their road trip when they travel to Jackson-Milton on January 8th at 6:15PM and Western Reserve (6-4) (3-2) will hit the road when they play Lowellville on January 8th at 6:15PM. 

CLIPPERS CANT BE STOPPED

Columbiana Dominates Mineral Ridge in a 61-15 Victory

Columbiana asserted their dominance on Tuesday night as they hosted Mineral Ridge, delivering a commanding 61-15 victory. The Clippers showcased a balanced scoring attack, stifling the Rams and securing a convincing win.

Devin Dougherty led the way for Columbiana with an impressive 16-point performance, highlighting his scoring prowess. Maddox Brown contributed 12 points, while Seth Struharik and Ian Less added 11 and 10 points, respectively, underscoring the Clippers’ well-distributed offensive effort.

For Columbiana, the victory propels them to a 6-3 record as they prepare to resume league play on Friday against Leetonia at home. Meanwhile, Mineral Ridge, now standing at 3-5, will regroup for their upcoming matchup as they play host to Lowellville on Friday.

TIGERS KEEP GRIP AT THE TOP

MINERAL RIDGE OH- In a highly anticipated clash for first place in the MVAC, Springfield secured a thrilling victory over previously undefeated Mineral Ridge on Thursday night, claiming a 54-49 win and snapping Ridge’s flawless record.

Jameka Brungard emerged as a powerhouse for the Tigers, dominating with an impressive 25 points and a staggering 22 rebounds. Mariana Tuscano showcased her clutch abilities, contributing 13 points and sinking a crucial go-ahead three-pointer with under a minute remaining. Ava Vecchione added 10 points to Springfield’s well-rounded offensive effort.

Mineral Ridge fought hard, led by Ava Hulett’s formidable 25-point performance. Norah Schneider and Sullivan Sandy contributed with 7 and 6 points, respectively, but Springfield’s resilience proved decisive.

The turning point came in a pivotal third quarter, where the Tigers surged ahead, ultimately solidifying their top spot in the MVAC. As the final buzzer sounded, Springfield celebrated a hard-fought victory that not only elevated them to 7-2 but also handed Mineral Ridge their first loss of the season.

Looking ahead, Springfield is set to face Cardinal Mooney at South Range on December 28th, while Mineral Ridge will hit the road to take on Leetonia on December 27th. The post-game excitement only foreshadows the intensity that awaits as both teams continue their basketball journey in the competitive MVAC.

BIG TEST AHEAD FOR MINERAL RIDGE

Ava Hulet led the charge with an outstanding all-around performance, contributing 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 steals. Sullivan Sandy added 12 points, Norah Schneider chipped in with 11 points, while Lily Merolilo, Gianna Gilbert, and Kelcee Dye each contributed 10, 5, and 5 points, respectively.

With this comprehensive win, Mineral Ridge maintains an unblemished 8-0 record, setting the stage for a significant challenge as they prepare to host the reigning MVAC champions, Springfield. The upcoming matchup promises to be a test of their undefeated run and an opportunity to further solidify their standing in the league. RAMS SHOW THEY MEAN BUSINESS

YOUNGSTOWN OH- In a clash of titans, undefeated Mineral Ridge showcased their dominance on the road against Chaney, securing a resounding 73-47 victory in a highly anticipated matchup.

Leading the scoring for Mineral Ridge were Gianna Gilbert and Ava Hulett, each contributing an impressive 19 points. Sullivan Sandy added 14 points, while Samantha Aulet and Kelcee Dye both chipped in with 8 points, highlighting a well-rounded offensive effort.

Chaney’s scoring efforts were led by Alyssa Brown, who posted a game-high 26 points, showcasing her offensive prowess. Jaziya Burley-Anderson added 9 points in the effort.

With this convincing win, Mineral Ridge maintains their unblemished record at 6-0 and will return to league play on Monday with a road trip to Lowellville. Chaney, now 4-3, will have a week off before hosting Valley Christian on Thursday, December 21st, as they regroup from the tough contest against Mineral Ridge.

RAMS MAINTAIN FLAWLESS RECORD

Maintaining their flawless record, Mineral Ridge showcased dominance on Monday with a resounding 70-34 victory over McDonald.

Ava Hulett led the charge for the Lady Rams, achieving an impressive double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 steals. Sullivan Sandy contributed 15 points, while Gianna Gilbert and Kelcee Dye each added 10 points. Lily Merolillo chipped in with 7 points, and Ava Carkido contributed 7 points as well.

The well-rounded performance propelled the Lady Rams to a 6-0 season record, highlighting their strength on both ends of the court. Their next challenge awaits on Thursday as they face off against Chaney, aiming to continue their undefeated streak in what promises to be another exciting matchup.
