SALEM, OHIO- As many teams in our area were taking the time do dodge raindrops, Salem took an opportunity to grab momentum. They welcomed in a hot Mineral Ridge team for a non conference matchup. It was all Salem in this one as they ran away 20-1 keeping their own bats hot, and silencing the Rams offense.
Salem was hot right out of the gate as they scored 18 runs in the first two innings of play. Salem had multiple players that had two or more hits including Lance Bailey, who went 3 for 3 and Cameron Kelm, who went 2 for 3. Bailey was also the winning pitcher of the day as he pitched five innings and allowed 2 hits, 1 run, and sat down 5 batters at the plate.
AJ Sandy was the losing pitcher of the day allowing 12 hits, 17 runs, and had 2 strikeouts.
Salem will travel to Mcdonald on Saturday. Mineral Ridge will look to quickly put this loss behind them and get back in the win column when they play East Palestine next Wednesday at home.
