EAGLES SOAR IN THRILLER OVER BL

HUBBARD, OH- In another tense encounter within the Northeast 8 division, Beaver Local faced off against Hubbard, but the Beavers’ struggles against the NE8 persisted as Hubbard’s Garland Warren sealed the game with a 5-yard touchdown run, securing a 29-25 victory for the Eagles with just 1:08 left on the clock.

Beaver Local, entering the game with a 4-2 record, found themselves in familiar territory, as this marked the third of four matchups against Northeast 8 opponents this season, with all previous games resulting in defeats, including encounters against Struthers and Niles. On the other side, Hubbard improved to a matching 4-3 record.

The game unfolded with both teams exchanging blows on the scoreboard:

Beaver Local drew first blood in the opening quarter, as senior quarterback Austin Cline connected with Brock Severs for a 14-yard touchdown pass, establishing a 7-0 lead.

Hubbard quickly responded, with Garland Warren rushing for a 10-yard touchdown, and the Eagles added a successful two-point conversion, taking an 8-7 lead with 1:45 remaining in the first quarter.

Warren continued to shine in the second quarter, breaking free for a 47-yard touchdown run, extending Hubbard’s lead to 15-7.

Beaver Local refused to be outdone, as Cline scored on a 5-yard touchdown run with just 1:02 left in the second quarter. The Beavers added a two-point conversion, sending both teams into halftime with a tied score of 15-15.

Hubbard regained the lead in the third quarter, as Alex Hackwelder executed a 1-yard keeper, making it 22-15 in favor of the Eagles. However, Beaver Local responded swiftly, with Brock Severs returning the ensuing kickoff an impressive 95 yards to tie the game at 22-22 with 7:02 left in the third quarter.

Kaleb Mays added a 21-yard field goal for Beaver Local with just 12 seconds remaining in the third quarter, giving the Beavers a brief lead of 25-22.

Ultimately, the late-game heroics of Garland Warren for Hubbard secured the victory for the Eagles, ending Beaver Local’s hopes of a comeback.

As Beaver Local prepares for their next challenge, a road game against Indian Creek, they will look for the comforts of their conference schedule to close out the year.

RANGE DRESSES TO IMPRESS FOR HOMECOMING

CANFIELD, OH-In another highly anticipated NE8 football matchup, the South Range Raiders clashed with the Girard Indians. The final score told the story of a dominant performance by the South Range Raiders, who emerged victorious with a commanding 49-21 win over Girard.

The game saw a flurry of scoring plays from both sides, especially late, making it an action-packed affair from start to finish. Here’s a breakdown of the game’s key moments:

**First Quarter:**
– South Range set the tone early as they forced a  fumble on the first play of the game, then later in the drive Tristan Toy scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown at the 8:43 mark, followed by an extra point by Logan Butcher, giving them a 7-0 lead.
– The Raiders continued their offensive prowess with  Blake Ewert finding the end zone on a 1-yard rushing touchdown at 4:18, again with Butcher successfully adding the extra point, extending the lead to 14-0.
– Girard responded with a scoring play of their own as Tuff McConahy connected with Stephen Sims for a 20-yard touchdown reception at 1:53, with Zachery Morris making the extra point, making it 14-7.

**Second Quarter:**
– South Range’s Tristan Toy threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Nagy at 10:14. Logan Butcher once more converted the extra point, stretching the lead to 21-7.
– Tristan Toy wasn’t done, as he scored an 11-yard rushing touchdown at 2:38, and Butcher continued to add to the scoreboard with a successful extra point, making it 28-7.
– Girard managed to cut into the lead with a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Stephen Sims at 0:07, and Andrew Whitfield made the extra point, reducing the deficit to 28-14 at halftime.

**Fourth Quarter:**
– The Indians showed their determination as Stephen Sims scored another touchdown, this time from 1 yard out at 11:43. Andrew Whitfield added the extra point, narrowing the gap to 28-21.
– However, South Range displayed their offensive prowess in the final quarter, with Tristan Toy scoring his third touchdown of the game, this time from 12 yards out at 8:50. Logan Butcher added the extra point, extending the lead to 35-21.
– The Raiders didn’t stop there, as Aidan Dominguez scored on a 9-yard rushing touchdown from the Wildcat formation at 7:53, followed by another successful extra point by Butcher, making it 42-21.
– To seal the deal, South Range’s Troy Combs found the end zone on a 5-yard rushing touchdown at 2:45, with Butcher once again adding the extra point, resulting in the final score of 49-21 in favor of the Raiders.

Overall, it was an impressive offensive showcase by the South Range Raiders, with Tristan Toy and Blake Ewert playing pivotal roles in their victory.  Ewert ran for 157 yards on 22 carries and had a score.  Toy racked up 60 yards on the ground with three trips to the endzone and also had an interception on defense.  Dominguez made the most his three carries with 14 yards and a score.  Brady Crumbacher, Tristan Toy, and Dylan Smesko led the way on defense with four tackles apiece.  Despite a resilient effort from Girard, South Range’s explosive plays proved to be too much to handle.

For the Indians, Stephen Sims led the way on the ground with most of his carries coming after an injury to Tuff McConahy in the first half.  Sims racked up 44 yards and two scores on the ground.  McConohy went 13/20 for 147 yards through the air while finding the painted turf once, and throwing two picks.

With this win, South Range improved their record to 6-1 and will go on the road to Niles, while Girard will look to regroup in their next matchup against Poland with a 4-3 record.

SOUTH RANGE SURVIVES BULLDOG ATTACK

CORTLAND, OH- It was a thrilling Friday night under the bright stadium lights as the South Range Raiders faced off against the Lakeview Bulldogs in a high-stakes football showdown. The atmosphere was electric, and fans from both sides filled the stands, ready to witness an epic battle on the gridiron.

The first quarter started with a bang for the Raiders, as their star player, Blake Ewert, made an immediate impact. Ewert displayed his prowess by scoring two quick touchdowns. The first came from a hard-fought 5-yard run, showcasing his determination to put points on the board. The second was a jaw-dropping 79-yard dash to the end zone, leaving defenders in his wake. South Range took an early 14-0 lead, and their fans erupted with cheers.

But the Bulldogs were not to be outdone. In the second quarter, their quarterback, Boom Gillis, connected with Andrew Brown on a 24-yard pass for a touchdown, putting Lakeview on the scoreboard. The score was now 14-7, and the game was well and truly alive.

As the third quarter began, the Raiders maintained their lead with a balanced attack. Tristan Toy executed a 1-yard quarterback sneak, and Boom Gillis orchestrated a beautifully timed 10-yard pass to Hayden Newton for another touchdown. Gaven Nagy, a standout on defense, made a game-changing play with an 85-yard pick-six, adding to South Range’s lead. The score now stood at 28-14 in favor of the Raiders.

The Bulldogs, refusing to back down, fought valiantly in the fourth quarter. Boom Gillis took matters into his own hands, scoring on a 3-yard run to cut the deficit to 28-21. The game was far from over, and both teams knew it.

In the end, South Range’s defense held strong, preventing the Bulldogs from staging a late-game comeback. The final whistle blew, and the South Range Raiders emerged victorious with a score of 28-21.

Blake Ewert was the standout player of the game, rushing for an impressive 195 yards and scoring two crucial touchdowns. Boom Gillis, on the other side, led the Bulldogs with 148 passing yards and two touchdowns of his own. POLAND DEFENDS THE DOG HOUSE; REMAIN PERFECT

POLAND, OH- In a non-conference high school football matchup, the Poland Bulldogs faced off against the Firelands at Poland Seminary. The game ended with a resounding victory for Poland, with a final score of 49-14.

**First Quarter:**
The game kicked off with Poland Seminary (PSHS) taking an early lead, scoring a touchdown on a 34-yard pass, followed by a successful extra point kick. Firelands (FHS) responded with a touchdown of their own, as Collin Scott ran in a 1-yard score, with Matthew Bednar adding the extra point. The quarter ended with Poland Seminary leading 7-7.

**Second Quarter:**
Poland Seminary dominated the second quarter, scoring three touchdowns. They extended their lead with a 15-yard pass, followed by a 35-yard pass, and a 2-yard rushing touchdown, converting all the extra point kicks. The halftime score stood at 28-7 in favor of Poland Seminary.

**Third Quarter:**
The third quarter continued to be in Poland Seminary’s favor, as they added another touchdown with a 16-yard pass and an extra point. The score was now 42-7 in favor of Poland Seminary heading into the final quarter.

**Fourth Quarter:**
In the final quarter, Poland Seminary sealed their victory with a 7-yard rushing touchdown and the extra point. Firelands managed to score one more touchdown with a 1-yard run by Christian Buchs, and the extra point was successful. However, it was too little, too late for Firelands as the game ended with a score of 49-14 in favor of Poland Seminary.

Joined by the show’s host, DJ Yokley,  they delved into the intriguing dynamics of the team and Cam Carr Sr.’s role as a strong and vocal leader. Highlighted was a captivating aspect of their hype video, featuring his emphatic words that captivated listeners, especially the powerful line “listen to me, listen!” Seeing his image on the Jumbotron before hitting the field was a thrilling experience for both the players and the audience.

Discussing the impact of the video, Cam shared that such features helped unify the team, getting them pumped and focused on their collective mission. He extended gratitude to those who supported them, including the show’s host, and emphasized that each individual’s contribution played a crucial role in their journey.

Shifting to his role as a leader, Cam shared that strong leadership was pivotal for the team’s cohesion and success. He expressed the importance of having multiple leaders who could come together to guide the team, fostering unity and resilience. Carr disclosed that he saw his role as a “hype man,” someone who energizes the team through spirited speeches before games, encouraging his teammates to bring their best to the field.
