POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH NICK BLANCH

POLAND OH- Poland has continued their strong start to the season. After losing their first game of the year to Salem, they have now won every game since. Their most recent win was a victory over their rival Canfield. Coach Blanch commends the continued growth of his team, and says that shined through in the Canfield game. Poland looks ahead to hosting Struthers this week.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH NICK BLANCH

POLAND OH- Over the last three seasons, Poland girls basketball has been one of the most dominant programs in the area. It can be attributed to their senior leadership, and their dedication to creating a family environment. That has been more important than ever this season with all that has been going on with the pandemic. Poland has been able to stay together as a family, and that is what makes head coach Nick Blanch prouder than any win could make him. With strong seniors, and some young talent coming up, Poland promises to have their hands in the action towards the end of the season.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW (WITH NICK BLANCH)

Poland has made it to their second straight district championship game. They are looking to defend their title that they won last season. Standing in their way is area powerhouse West Branch. These two teams met in last year’s district semifinals. Poland took a competitive game that day on their way to a championship. Both teams return a lot of the roster from last year, so all signs point to another competitive game.

Poland has won two hard fought games to get to this point. First Poland beat Struthers for the third time this year 56-43. They only led 26-23 at half. Then in the district semifinals Poland found themselves in yet another battle. Only up three at half again 22-19 the Bulldogs has to dig deep to grab a 47-36 win. West Branch has won two lopsided games. Their first victim was Ravenna 55-5. Then they took it to EBC rival Salem 47-19.

All signs point to a great title game and YSN has you covered with a championship preview from coach Blanch.

The Austintown district championship is Saturday at Austintown Fitch at 7:00.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EPISODE 12 WITH NICK BLANCH)

The train keeps rolling in Poland as the Lady Bulldogs advance in the tournament. After a hard fought win against a familiar Struthers team, Poland now turns their attention to Southeast. The Pirates are a newcomer to the Fitch district, but not to success. They are the reigning division 3 Struthers district champions. Now moved up a Division, they have plenty to prove. A tough task is in front of the Dogs with a trip to the championship on the line.

Anthony Hartwig got to catch with Coach Blanch this week before their semifinal match up against Southeast. It’s officially tournament time in Poland. The Bulldogs finished the regular season with a decisive win over rival Canfield. Now their sights are set to their first tournament game against Struthers. It will mark the third meeting between the two schools. Poland won the first two, but they are not taking the Wildcats lightly.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP10 WITH NICK BLANCH)

The regular season is coming to a close for the Bulldogs. They are fresh off their second consecutive undefeated NE8 season. The new champions then took it to Howland in their home finale. They now look to find revenge on their rival Canfield who beat them by four earlier this season. A loss that Coach Blanch still is sour about. He feels they left the win out on the court and is excited for another shot at the Cardinals.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP9 WITH NICK BLANCH)

Another week has come and gone for the Poland Lady Bulldogs. It was another week of wind in the NE8. They took a game over Jefferson, and then followed that up with a win at Hubbard in their last road test in the league. Now they look forward to senior night on Thursday as they welcome in Niles. Nick Blanch says senior nights are very bitter sweet. He can’t wait to recognize four players who have given so much to the program, but knows time with them is counting down.

It’s been another dominant week in the NE8 for Poland. They keep taking it one game at a time with wins over Girard and Lakeview. In the Girard game Jackie Grisdale tied the record for threes in a game. In the Lakeview game, a lot of young players got in and had a lot of success. Coach Blanch said that is so important for the future of the program. Now the Bulldogs look ahead to games against Jefferson and Hubbard.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 7 WITH NICK BLANCH)

Another successful week for the Poland Lady Bulldogs as they got two wins since we last caught up with coach Blanch. A home victory over Struthers, and then an important Saturday road win over Mooney. Coach Blanch was pleased with the energy and physicality against Struthers, who he says always pushes people around. He less pleased however with the third quarter of the Mooney game where they saw a 23 point lead shrink to 12. They were able to bounce back, but he says an incomplete game is not this team’s standard. They look ahead to games against Girard and Lakeview on the horizon.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP6 WITH NICK BLANCH)

It’s been awhile since we have had the chance to talk to coach Nick Blanch. A medical condition made him have to step away for a couple games. In his absence the team has taken care of business with wins over Liberty, Niles, and Hubbard. He returned on Saturday when they beat Lakeview to set up a big matchup with South Range. The Bulldogs handled the hype and came away with a 16 point victory over the Raiders.
