LONGHORNS SNAG THE NABF SENIOR WORLD SERIES TITLE

STRUTHERS OH- After an impressive Championship Sunday the Ohio Longhorns-DeMarino outlasted Knightline to secure a NABF Senior World Series Championship.  They were able to hold off a late rally to earn a 5-3 victory.

Trevor Vojtkofsky did a ton of damage at the plate for the Longhorns. He went 3-4 on the day with a run scored, and a pair of RBI.  AJ Caggiano anchored the lineup by going 2-4 with a RBI, and a run scored.  Parker Monday went 1-4 with a RBI on the day.  Alex Parker also had a RBI on a 1-3 day.

Dominic King reigned all day on the bump as he pitched his way to a complete game victory.  He gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits and struck out 1.

Gavin Shrum was never retired at the plate on the day for Knightline. He went 1-1 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Teagan McCurdy got the other RBI for Knightline going 1-3.  Jake Hettrick was also perfect going 1-1 with a run scored.

Alec Grzyb took the tough luck loss on the mound. He pitched 2 innings and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He struck out a pair.

AVALANCHE DODGE THE LONGHORNS

STRUTHERS OH- In 18U action of the NABF World Series, the Avalanche were able to walk away with a victory in a very interesting, tight matchup against the Longhorns-DeMarino. A two-run fourth inning for the Avalanche was one of the key moments that pushed them to a 4-3 victory on Saturday. 

Keith Smith led the Avalanche at the plate with a 2-3 day as he scored a run. Jullian Trott went 1-4 on the day, he was the lone RBI for the Avalanche. Logan Ayres went 1-2 and drew a walk. 

Noah Czajowski got the win on the mound for the Avalanche. In his 3 IP, he gave up 2 earned runs on 1 hit. He finished with 6 strikeouts on the day.

LONGHORNS HOOK BRUNSWICK ORIOLES

STRUTHERS OH- The Ohio Longhorns Anderson team found themselves in a battle on Friday against the Brunswick Orioles in the 16U NABF World Series.  4 runs in the 5th inning ended up being the difference in their 5-2 win.

Isaac Hynes was one of the leaders of the Longhorns offense. He went 2-3 on the day with a RBI.  Kyle Benson hit right behind him going 1-2 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI.  Trey Roberson also collected a RBI.

Ronnie Fruscella pitched the Longhorns to victory. He took the complete game giving up 2 runs on 2 hits.  He struck out an eye popping 9.

Alex Frye took one of the 2 hits for the Orioles offense, and knocked in a RBI.  Payden McDonald collected a RBI as well.

HURRICANES DOUBLE UP LONGHORNS

STRUTHERS OH- The Ohio Hurricanes we’re just too much of a storm to bare for the Ohio Longhorns Lally 16U team. The Hurricanes offense gusted their way to an 8-4 win.

Tanner Carson hit his way to a big day going 2-4 with a RBI.  Tommy Michalski also had multiple hits for the Hurricanes going 2-3 with 3 runs scored, and a RBI.  Tyler DeRoy also went 2-3 on the day with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.  Holden Cole added a RBI as well on a 1-4 day.

Ben Mays took the victory on the bump for the Hurricanes. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits.  He struck out a batter.

Alex Schneckenburger knocked in 2 RBI for the Longhorns going 1-1.  Preston Bowman went 1-4 with a RBI.  Antonio Modica was the only hitter in the lineup with multiple hits going 2-4.

LONGHORNS LALLY OUTLASTS BEES IN PITCHER’S DUEL

AUSTINTOWN OH- The Brooklyn Bonnie Bees and the Ohio Longhorn-Lally faced off on Friday in the 16U NABF World Series. A very tight matchup with no scoring from either side going into the bottom of the sixth, the Longhorns squeezed out a single run to take the lead and ultimately take the victory, 1-0.

Elijah Drake, Owen Boone, and Antonio Modica all three contributed a hit each for the Longhorns. Drake had a 1-2 day with a run scored and a stolen base. Boone went 1-2 on the day. Modica went 1-3 on the day with an RBI and a stolen base.

Sam Kerscher went the full distance and got the win on the mound for the Longhorns. In his 7 IP, he gave up 6 hits. He struck out 1 on the day.

OHIO LONGHORNS OUT-SLUG AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS, OH- The Ohio Longhorns and the Avalanche battled on Cene #1 in the first game of NABF World Series Pool Play. The Longhorns came out swinging, and kept the lead the entire way to win game 1.

The Longhorns scored 3 runs in the first inning to jump out in front. Damien Presser hit an RBI double to score the third run of the inning. The Avalanche came right back to plate 2 runs in the first, on an RBI single by Hunter Jones. The Ohio Longhorns got 2 more runs in the second inning with another RBI double, but this time by Carter Duley. Once again Avalanche countered to score 2 more runs on an RBI knock by Layne Rider.

It was a 6-5 Longhorn lead after the fourth inning, and both bullpens would compete to win the game. The Ohio Longhorns reliever Bradee Blankenship tossed 3 scoreless innings, to seal the deal for the Longhorns. Although the team lost, Avalanche reliever Layne Rider tossed 4 innings of relief, giving up just 1 run and striking out 4 batters.

The Ohio Longhorns out hit the Avalanche 10-9, picking up the slim 1 run victory of 6-5. Both teams return to action tomorrow at Bob Cene Park. Catch all 4 games on YSNLive.com

NABF JUNIOR DIVISION ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM

STRUTHERS OH- The NABF Junior Division World Series wrapped up on Sunday night when the Ohio Longhorns beat the Astro Falcons to win the championship. Plenty of talent was on display all weekend, and now that a champion has been named, the all tournament team has been released.

OHIO LONGHORNS WIN NABF JUNIOR DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

AUSTINTOWN OH- In the NABF Junior division semifinals, the Astro Falcons beat a Ohio Longhorns team 13-5. They would be stacked up with a separate Longhorns squad in the championship, but couldn’t overcome this challenge. They fell to Longhorns-Piscura 4-0.

Jay Campbell got the start on the mound for the Falcons and started things off with a quick 1-2-3 inning. Tommy Mawby matched that on the hill for the Longhorns throwing a solid 1-2-3 frame. Both pitchers had a no hitter through 3 innings of play.

Ryder Spath broke up Campbell’s perfect game by getting on base in the fourth, and then stole second base. Spath came along to score to break the tie 1-0. Mawby then scored on an error to make it 2-0. The Longhorns continued to score in the inning and Alex Healy’s sac fly made it 4-0 before the inning was over.

That was the end of the scoring as Mawby threw a gem of a game and shutout the Falcons defense. He threw 3 innings of perfection.

DURA EDGE KEEPS LONGHORNS QUIET

STRUTHERS OH- Ohio Longhorns watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-0 loss to Dura edge on Sunday. Dura edge took the lead on a single in the first inning.

The Ohio Longhorns struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Dura edge, giving up six runs.

Dura edge fired up the offense in the first inning, when Parker Lyons singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Ohio Longhorns was a single by Zac Fuller in the first inning.

Tommy Croyle started the game for Ohio Longhorns. The pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over two innings, walking one. Jeremy Moore, Shane Adamczyk, and Thomas Sharish each contributed in relief.

Lane Booker, John Tardio, Adamczyk, Fuller, Benjamin Sage, and Connor Dunlap each managed one hit to lead the Longhorns

Zack Leonard led Dura edge with three hits in three at bats.

LONGHORNS BOUNCE BACK ON DAY TWO

STRUTHERS OH-

Nine runs in the fifth inning led Ohio Longhorns past ProNine 16u 13-2 on Friday. The big bats in the inning were led by a triple by Trevor Vojtkofsky, a single by Noah Newman, a groundout by Reed Sackett, a fielder’s choice by AJ Pestello, an error on a ball put in play by Jake Holmes, and a double by Alex Parker.

Ohio Longhorns pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Sackett tripled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Dominic King’s sac fly scored one run, and Newman doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Ohio Longhorns notched nine runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Pestello, Holmes, Sackett, Vojtkofsky, Newman, and Parker, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Andrew Fisher was credited with the victory for Ohio Longhorns. The righthander surrendered two runs on two hits over five innings, striking out six.

Mason Reville took the loss for ProNine. The pitcher allowed eight hits and four runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one.

Ohio Longhorns collected 13 hits on the day. Sackett, Vojtkofsky, Newman, Holmes, and Parker each managed multiple hits. Sackett led with three hits in four at bats.
