SO MUCH TO HOFFER

There’s a switch that every competitor has that allows them to take themselves to “another level.”  For Crestview Junior, Tanner Hoffer, that switch has been flipped.

Hoffer played numerous sports leading up to high school that included volleyball and track along with basketball.  When she was a freshman, she was taken under the wing of a senior who changed her outlook on her social life, as well as what it took to become a leader.  Hoffer since has dropped other sports to focus on what she feels will propel her into college, and continue to play a game that she loves.  A game that when you talk about her teammates, a wide smile crosses the face of the Rebel Forward.

Quite simply, a new and focused Tanner Hoffer is an incredible asset to the Rebels and is bad news for her opponents.

We sat down with Tanner prior to the Labrae game for this week’s Crestview Rebel Player Profile: SO MUCH TO HOFFER.

CRESTVIEW BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH JEFF WILSON (EP 3)

The Rebels are on the right track, and it’s going to take all hands on deck for the ship’s course to be righted.

We had the chance to catch up with Coach Wilson after the Reb’s Holiday Tournament win and discuss strategy for the short, and long-term for his squad.

This team is hungry for success, and they may not have to look too far to find it.

SALEM BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH VINCE NITTOLI (EP 1)

The Lady Quakers are alive!  Half-way through the campaign, the Salem Ladies Basketball Team is catching their stride in a timely fashion.  Led by a great staff of coaches, and a wave of premiere talent on the court, and Vince Nittoli is tasked with putting it all together.

So far-So good.

Nittoli has led his Lady Quakers to an 11-4 record out of the gate, and are contending in one of the toughest conferences in the area.  The Eastern Buckeye Conference.

We caught up for a long overdue, and much-needed conversation with Coach Vince after a win over Carrollton for our first episode of SALEM BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH VINCE NITTOLI.

A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

It’s a coaches philosophy that games are won in the offseason.  In the weight room.  In the gym.  On the field.  Taking the reps, and becoming better when the spotlight isn’t directly on an athlete.

However, it’s an athlete’s perception that in most cases: there is no offseason.  Student-Athletes many times go from sport to sport without taking a breath and without the ability to transition.  Or in this case, a student-athlete goes nearly year-round in a sport they are passionate about.

So, in of Crestview Sophomore, Drake Golden, it’s an opportunity to raise his game from one season to the next.  To showcase his talents season after season, and for all intents and purposes, building the Drake Golden plane in mid-flight.

Being part of a young roster in Crestview will come with some growing pains, but Drake continues to lean on his teammates and coaches in order to help bring the tradition-rich Rebel Hoops Program back to life!

I had a chance to sit down with the Sophomore Standout in the latest edition of CRESTVIEW REBEL PLAYER PROFILE: A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

SOUTH RANGE BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH JOHN CULLEN

In South Range, the reigns of the Hoops Program is run by legendary Coach, John Cullen.  Known for his Basketball IQ and the way he is able to transfer that knowledge onto the court for the Raiders is one of the biggest reasons for the success of the program under his watch.  As he’ll tell you, the other reasons come down to the execution of the game plan.  While the Raiders are having a successful campaign so far, Coach C knows and acknowledges that the biggest burdens are yet to come.

With all that being said, the Raiders are doing what the Raiders always do.  Win with what they have.  Not a tall team this year, South Range has had to create their opportunities by playing outstanding defense and setting the pace offensively.

YSN’s Brent Bigelow sat down with Coach Cullen to discuss how the team has faired thus far, as well as looking into the crystal ball for what’s to come.

All that and more on Episode 1 of South Range Coach’s Corner with John Cullen.

BURY EXTRAORDINARY

Life is fast right now for the Leader of the Pack in Poland.  With her team undefeated currently, Poland Senior Sarah Bury continues to be a leader on the court for the Lady Dogs.  The fact that Bury recently became one of the few Poland Lady Bulldogs to eclipse the 1000-point mark is exceptional, however, the fact that she had no idea that she was on pace for the mark speaks more to her character than any basket ever could.

Oh, and by the way, her coach had to insist that she shoot the ball instead of passing to her teammate in order to land the feat.  That tells you all you need to know in that story, alone.

YSN’s Anthony Hartwig sat down with the very humble, well spoken, and team-oriented, Sarah Bury for this week’s Poland Girls Hoops Profile: BURY EXTRAORDINARY

POLAND BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH NICK BLANCH (EP 1)

Halfway through the season, we catch up with the Blue-Hot Poland Lady Bulldogs, they’re still undefeated- rolling through the competition at home and on the road.  Head Coach Nick Blanch sits down with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig and discusses this years squad, and what makes this group so special.

What makes this team so close-knit?  Is there a different philosophy this year?  What does the coaching staff do so well?

A great team is led from the front, and Coach Blanch exemplifies exactly that.  Get all the Dog-gone Details in this week’s Poland Coach’s Corner with Nick Blanch.

An up and down ride in the early-going for the new East Palestine Hoops Commander, but the youth movement has begun in the Dog Pound.  Coach Bill Stanton is in the heat of EOAC-play, and is taking everybody’s best shot as the league’s up-and-comer.
