ASTROS ELEVATE PAST WHITING IN GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH-

Tuesday was a long day for Whiting Roll-Offs, falling to Astro Falcons 10-4.

Astro Falcons opened up an early lead in the second inning when Ryan DiLullo doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

In the top of the third inning, Whiting tied things up at four.  Nate Thomas’s sac fly scored one run.

Astro Falcons took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. Bo Fornataro drew a walk, scoring one run.

Shawn Kristophel led things off on the hill for Astro Falcons. He went five and a third innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three.

Ben Kern led things off on the mound for Whiting. He allowed six hits and five runs over three and a third innings, striking out four.  

Whiting scattered nine hits in the game.  Kern, Ben Miller, and Owen Keister all managed multiple hits.  Kern went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits.

Astro Falcons racked up 12 hits in the game.  Jay Wrona, Kolten Ruark, and DiLullo all collected multiple hits.

WHITING HANDLES A2Z AND ADVANCES

A2Z lost the lead late in a 12-6 defeat to Whiting Roll-Offs on Sunday. Whiting trailed 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning when Ben Miller tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.

Despite the loss, A2Z did collect 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Whiting had 16 hits on the way to victory.

A2Z captured the lead in the second inning.  They scored one run on a stolen base.

In the bottom of the third inning, A2Z tied things up at four when an error scored one run.

A2Z put up three runs in the second inning.  A2Z big bats in the inning were led by a single by Matt Paparodis and a sacrifice fly by Braden Adams.

Whiting scored four runs in the seventh inning.  The big inning came thanks to a triple by Grant Melder, a single by Nick Thomas, and a double by Corbin Sevcik.

Connor Davis earned the victory on the mound for Whiting. He allowed six hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three.

Joe Aey took the loss for A2Z. He surrendered four runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

A2Z tallied 11 hits.  Paparodis, Aiden Thompson, and Danny Nittoli all managed multiple hits.  Nittoli, Thompson, and Paparodis all had two hits to lead. 

Whiting racked up 16 hits.  Melder, Sevcik, Miller, and Owen Keister each collected multiple hits.

PROSPECTS GRAB LEAD LATE TO BEAT WHITING

Prospects defeated Whiting 9-6 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game.  The game was tied at six with Prospects batting in the bottom of the sixth when Kris Hrosar singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Prospects earned the victory despite allowing Whiting to score four runs in the first inning.  Whiting’s big inning was driven by singles by Grant Melder, Nate Thomas, Owen Keister, and Sam Patton.

Whiting got things started in the first inning.  Melder drove in one when he singled.

Carter Knupp took the win for Prospects. He went three innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out two.

Grayson Hooks took the loss for Whiting. He allowed six hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.

Prospects racked up 15 hits in the game.  Caleb Hadley, Michael Condoleon, Stephen Palmer, Knupp, and Ciminero all managed multiple hits.  Hadley led the way with three hits in four at bats.

Whiting racked up ten hits.  Thomas, Keister, and Melder each racked up multiple hits for Whiting.  Thomas went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead.

WHITING DESTROYS CSA

Nothing came easy for CSA on Thursday, as they fell 16-0 to Whiting Roll-Offs.

One bright spot for CSA was a double by Noah Adamson in the second inning.

Joey Pugh got the start for Whiting. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over two innings, striking out three and walking one.

John  Darnley was on the hill for CSA. He surrendered eight runs on four hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one. 

Adamson, and Andrew Brown all had one hit to lead CSA.

Whiting racked up 12 hits.  Grant Melder, Ben Miller, Nick Thomas and Owen Keister each collected multiple hits.  Grant led Whiting with three hits in four at bats.

WHITING USES LATE BURST TO BEAT PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH-

Whiting Roll-Offs defeated Prospects 7-1 on Monday after taking the lead late in the game.  The game was tied at one with Whiting batting in the bottom of the fourth when an error scored two runs.

Whiting secured the victory thanks to four runs in the fifth inning.  Roll Offs offense in the inning was led by Ben Kern, Owen Keister, and Derek Curry, all driving in runs in the frame.

Whiting pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning.

Whiting notched four runs in the fifth inning.  The offensive firepower was led by Kern, Keister, and Curry, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Kern got the win for Whiting. He lasted four innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out six.  Grayson Hooks threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Coby Airwikie toed the rubber for Prospects. He allowed seven hits and six runs over four innings, striking out four.  Stephen Palmer and Anthony Marimpietri entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Whiting tallied nine hits.  Will Gubba and Kern all had multiple hits.  Kern and Gubba each collected two hits.
