YOUNGSTOWN OH- In order to have a good quarterback or running back in football, it first starts with the offensive line. In order to have a good defense that can get at the quarterback, you need leadership on the defensive line. One of those leaders on those sides of the ball is senior Padraig Mcarthy for the Ursuline Irish.

At one point during his freshman season, the offensive line had one of the worst ratings in the valley, but with time came performance and in the next two seasons, the offensive line led by McCarthy and the Irish had one of the best showings, leading Ursuline’s way to the fourth round/regional finals of the OHSAA playoffs.

In this Ursuline Fighting Irish edition of the YSN Player Profile, our own Ian O’Brien chats with Pad McCarthy and talks about the big shootout victory against Austintown Fitch, how the offensive and defensive line has changed through his career, how the young guys look up to him as a leader, and what to expect from Warren Harding.
