SETTING LATONE

CANFIELD, OH-  From the vibrant sidelines to the spirited heart of the community, Gia Latone has become an emblem of dedication and enthusiasm for the Canfield Cardinals. Joining Steve Leslie on the popular YSN podcast, Gia’s passion for cheerleading and her unwavering support for her team and community took center stage.

Gia’s journey with the Cardinals began over 13 years ago, inspired by her mother who not only participated but also coached at the ClC. Transitioning from softball, Gia found cheer to be her true calling, and she has never looked back. “I fell in love with it,” she shared, noting her involvement in numerous clubs and her position as the spirit coordinator, roles that exemplify her leadership and dedication.

A senior now, Gia is reflective yet deeply grateful. The realization that her cheerleading journey is nearing its end is bittersweet. “I was always looking forward to that role,” she mentioned about being a senior, adding, “I never knew high school cheer was this much, but I’ve loved all of it.”

Her commitment stretches beyond the field. Gia devotes significant time mentoring younger cheerleaders, aiming to inspire them just as she once aspired to emulate the seniors before her. “Helping the little CLC Cardinals, the little girls,” she says, gives her immense fulfillment.

Excelling academically as well, Gia plans to channel her love for children into a career in pediatric nursing. Eyeing institutions like Cincinnati or Miami, she envisions continuing her legacy of leadership and care.

Despite their size, Gia lauded this year’s senior class and student section for their spirited support, epitomized during their recent exhilarating victory over the rival Poland Bulldogs.

As Gia looks forward to the remaining weeks of the season and beyond, her gratitude for the Canfield community and her role in it is palpable. To her coaches, friends, and family—including her dog Jax who shares their home—Gia extended heartfelt thanks, embodying the spirit of a true Canfield Cardinal.
