GAME 1:
Both teams were strong in the pitcher’s circle on Saturday, but Jackson was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Boardman on Saturday. Tori Strines started the game for Boardman Spartans and recorded all 21 outs.
A single by Madison Lester in the first inning was a positive for Boardman.
Purdue commit Julia Gossett was the winning pitcher for Jackson. The hurler lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking out 13 and walking one.
Strines took the loss for the Spartans. The righty went seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out seven.
Jenna Olexa went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Boardman in hits. The Spartans didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cassidy Bryan had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
Ashley Hauritz led Jackson with two hits in four at bats. Jackson was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Morgan Christopher had the most chances in the field with 13.
GAME 2:
Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between Boardman and Jackson where Boardman prevailed 12-6.
The Spartans opened up scoring in the first inning when Cami Goske singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Boardman took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Jenna Madick doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Tori Strines singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
The Spartans notched six runs in the sixth inning. Madison Lester, Madison Wymer, Cassidy Bryan, and Nadia Rawhneh all drove in runs in the frame.
Lester earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Boardman. Lester lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and six runs, four of them earned while striking out six and walking one.
Aubree Snow took the loss for Jackson. Snow allowed 16 hits and 12 runs over six innings, striking out one and walking one.
Boardman socked two home runs on the day. Bryan went yard in the sixth inning. Lester put one out in the first inning.
The Spartans tallied 16 hits. Lester, Strines, Bryan, Wymer, and Jenna Olexa all collected multiple hits. Lester went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.
Jackson tallied nine hits in the game. Gossett and Hauritz all had multiple hits. Gossett led with three hits in four at bats.
