PROSPECTS RUN AWAY FROM DURA EDGE

STRUTHERS OH- It was all Prospects on Friday night in Class B action in the 18U division.  The offense was flying high, and the pitching was sharp for the Prospects in a 11-1 win.

Robert Gumino was a perfect 3-3 on the day knocking in 2 RBI for Prospects.  Marco Massucci also had 2 RBI with a 1-2 day.  Ethan Prout went 3-4 on the day with a RBI.  Brandon Popio also had multiple hits going 2-4 with 2 runs scored.  Rafe Bonifay nailed down a RBI with a 2-4 effort, he also scored a run.

Brody Meyers threw the complete game victory for Prospects.  In his 7 innings he gave up 1 run on 6 hits.  He struck out 6 as well.

Jack Kail went 1-3 for Dura Edge and collected the only RBI for the offense.  Chris Tarquinio had multiple hits going 2-3 with a run scored. Anthony Butto took home a 1-3 day as well.

WHITING GETS A BOUNCE BACK WIN

STRUTHERS OH- After dripping their second game of the season on Tuesday, Whiting had to battle to get back in the win column on Thursday in a 9-8 victory over Prospects.

Isaac Barry had the most productive bat in the Whiting lineup as he went 1-4 with 2 RBI.  Ben Miller gathered multiple hits going 2-5 on the day with a RBI.  Kallen Durbin drew two walks and went 1-2, he also drove in a run.

 

Barry pitched well in his 5 innings of work on the hill for Whiting. He gave up just 2 earned runs on 2 hits. He struck out 5.

Mason Nawrocki had a solid day at the dish for Prospects going 2-3 with a RBI, and a run scored.  Dylan Simpson had multiple hits going 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.  Carter Knupp also had a RBI for Prospects going 1-3 with a run scored.

Landon Turner did most of the work on the mound for Prospects. He gave up 6 earned runs on 8 hits in 5 innings pitched.  He managed to strike out 3.

ATHETIX GET UPPER HAND ON PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- Athletix had all the right moves on Tuesday night as they worked their way to a 8-3 win over the Prospects in 16U action.

Dominic Phillips had a massive day at the plate driving in 4 runs on a 2-4 effort.  He also scored a run. Brendan Ray also went 2-4 and his efforts drove in 3 RBI.  Gabe Saunders drew 2 walks and collected a RBI in the process.  Luke Gehring also had multiple hits going a perfect 2-2.

Konnor Brogan got the win on the mound for Athletix.  He went 5 innings and gave up 2 runs on zero hits.  He did strike out 7 batters.

Luca Fronzaglio was able to collect 2 walks and get the only RBI of the day for Athletix. Carter Knupp had a 1-2 day.  Brian Litz walked and scored a run on the night.  Owen Boone also walked a scored a run.

HITTING PLUS PITCHING EQUALS ASTROS DOMINATION

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons played the definition of a complete game on Monday night as they pitched well, and hit their way to a 10-0 mashing of the Prospects.

Mason Sike was the big bat in the Astro lineup. He went 2-3 on the day with a run scored and 3 RBI.  Gavin Miller also managed multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI.  He also scored 2 runs.  Anthony Miller was never retired on the day as he went 2-2 with a walk and a RBI.

It was Tino Campoli that was their force on the mound. He went the distance throwing all 5 innings and only giving up 2 hits and no runs.  He struck out 3.

Gino Lazzari got a hit for Prospects going 1-2 on the day.  Olindo Pezzone also managed to scrap across a hit on a 1-2 day.

KNIGHTLINE TOSSES THE SHUTOUT

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline pitched their way to a victory on Friday night.  The Prospect offense was baffled as Knightline strolled to a 5-0 victory.

On the offensive side of things, Ty Eberhardt went 2-3 on the day with a run scored and a RBI.  Alec Grzyb  couldn’t be kept off the base paths as he went 1-1 with a run scored and a RBI.  Tyler Capan went 1-2 with a RBI.

Ronnie Harper was the real hero of the story. He went the complete game and only gave up 1 hit. He struck out an impressive 9 batters.

AJ Stallsmith gathered the only hit of the day for Prospects.  The offense did manage to draw 4 walks on the day.

Nick Church pitched well despite the loss. He gave up 3 earned runs on 6 hits.  He struck out 3 and only walked 1.

PROSPECTS BLANK EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS-OH, The Prospects snapped a 2 game losing skid last night in a win over Eagle Wear in the Youngstown Class B Baseball League. The Prospects had the first advantage, and they kept that lead the entire way.

The Prospects struck first in the second inning on an RBI single by the left-fielder Dylan McCune. In the third inning, the Prospects took advantage of multiple Eagle Wear errors to plate 2 more runners. in the fourth frame, lead-off hitter Owen Boone roped a double in left center to score Nate Goldner, extending the lead to 4-0. The Prospects scored one more run in the sixth inning, and won the ballgame 5-0. Anthony Marimpietri picked up his first victory of the season, tossing 6 shutout innings, while striking out 7 Eagle Wear batters. The Prospects are now 4-8 on the campaign, and take on the Astro Falcons Sunday morning. Eagle Wear is still searching for its first win, taking on top seed Whiting tomorrow morning.

ATHLETIX MAKE THE PLAYS THAT COUNT

STRUTHERS OH- Pitching took center ring on Wednesday in 18U Class B action between Athletix and Prospects.  There were only 3 runs surrendered combined, but it was Athletix that came out on top 2-1.

Sebastian Rosado-Guindin hit both RBI for the Athletix offense. He went 1-2 on the day.  Nathan Vidmar had a multiple hit day going 2-3.  Bayden Pipoly went 1-3. Seth Cervello walked 3 times and scored 2 runs.

Riley McElwain was electric on the hill. In his 6 innings pitched he gave up 1 run on 2 hits.  He was able to fan 8 batters.

Evan Wolter walked and collected a RBI on the day for Prospects.  Alex Stowe was never retired on the day going 1–1 with a walk. Both Andrew Karila, and Jake Hettrick went 1-2 for the Prospects offense.

Brett McSparran was solid on the hill despite taking the tough loss. He threw a total of 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits. He struck out a pair of batters.

DURA EDGE OUT GUNS PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- It was a high scoring affair on Tuesday night as Dura Edge and Prospects both brought the big bats. It was Dura Edge though that had the bigger cannons and they bashed their way to a 12-7 win.

There were plenty of bright spots on offense for Dura Edge. One of the largest ones was Caleb Satterfield who went 2-4 with a run scored and a pair of RBI.  Mathew Boccieri also grabbed multiple hits going 2-4 with 2 RBI.  Paul Gubba went 2-4 as well. He scored a run, and knocked in a RBI.  Nathan McGahagan was another hitter with multiple hits going 2-3 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.

Braden Adams pitched 3 innings for Dura Edge and gave up 5 runs on 2 hits.  He struck out a hitter.

Coby Airwyke put together a great day at the plate for Prospects going 1-3 with a pair of runs knocked in.  Dylan Simpson walked 3 times and gathered a RBI.  Owen Boone collected multiple hits going 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

ONE RUN IS ALL WHITING NEEDS FOR VICTORY

STRUTHERS OH- It’s not very often you come across a true pitcher’s duel in baseball anymore. With so much focus on offense, a 1-0 has become an anomaly. For Whiting, and Prospects 18U teams it apparently needed to happen. Both teams were electric on the mound, but Whitibg came out on top 1-0.

Brady Shannon got the game winning RBI going 1-3 on the day.  He knocked in Cooper Vance who went 1-2 with a walk. Anthony Malagise led Whiting in hits going 2-2.

It was the pitcher’s who shined the brightest in this battle. Shannon got the win for Whiting. He went 2 innings and gave up 0 runs on 0 hits.  Marc Conti took the bulk of the work throwing 4 innings and giving up 0 runs on 3 hits. He struck out a pair.

Although Prospects only managed 4 hits, they did draw 6 walks. Robert Gumino went 1-2 with a walk on the day.  A.J Stallsmith had identical numbers going 1-2 with a walk.  Olindo Pezzone went 1-3 on the day.

Nick Church took the loss as he tossed all 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 5 hits.  He struck out 6 hitters, and used 92 pitches to get through the game. That’s an average of just over 15 pitches per inning.

 

CREEKSIDE KEEPS THE PRESSURE ON

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside has been on a roll as of late, as they looked to keep their great season going with a win over the Prospects. In 18U Class B action, Creekside came away with a 9-4 victory Friday night.

Caleb Hadley came up big at the plate and on the bases for Creekside, going  2-3 with a run scored, an RBI, 1 stolen base, and drawing a walk. Cam Lapinto also came up big at the plate. Lapinto went 1-2 on the day with 2 runs scored and drew 2 walks as well. Creekside scored 9 runs on 8 hits, and put up 3 RBIs as a team.

Zach Luciano got the win on the hill for Creekside. He went 6 IP with 4 earned runs on 8 hits. He finished with 5 strikeouts on the day.

Brandon Popio led the Prospects at the plate, going 2-2 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs and drawing a walk. Olindo Pezzone also had a great day at the plate, going 3-3 on the day with a double and a run scored. The Prospects scored 4 runs on 9 hits, along with 4 RBIs as a team.

Pezzone took the loss for the Prospects. He went 3 IP, surrendering 7 earned runs on 5 hits. He also finished with 3 strikeouts on the day.
