FAST START ENOUGH FOR AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- A 3 run first inning set the tone for Avalanche as they stormed their way to a 7-3 victory over Prospects.

Jacob Mattocks went 1-3 on the day for Avalanche. He walked, scored a run, and drilled home 2 RBI.  Joey Fazzone went an impressive 3-4 on the day.  He also scored a run and collected a RBI.  Keith Smith also had multiple hits for Avalanche going 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.

Fazzone got the win on the mound as well. He lasted 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 8 hits.  He struck out 3 and didn’t walk anyone.

Prospects made a late rally but it wasn’t enough. Gino Lazzari was their big bat. He went 2-4 with a RBI.  Rafe Bonifay also had multiple hits on a 2-4 day.  Olindo Pezzone went 1-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Andrew Kirilla took the loss.  He gave up 6 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings.  He struck out 5 batters as well.

AVALANCHE PREVAIL PAST PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- The Avalanche had a successful weekend as a program and it continued on Sunday as they pushed past the Prospects 8-5.

Noah Philson came through big for the Avalanche offense. He went 1-4 on the day and earned a pair of RBI.  Soren Hedrick was perfect at the plate going 1-1 with two walks and a RBI. Jimmy Roe went 1-2 on the day with 2 runs scored. He also walked and knocked in a run.

Alex Zordich got the win on the bump for Avalanche. He threw 3 innings and gave up 0 runs on 1 hit. He was able to strike out a pair.

Dylan Simpson had a good day at the plate for the Prospects despite the loss.  He went 2-3 with a RBI and 2 runs scored.  Brogan Collins proved hard to get out as he went 2-2 with a walk and a run scored. Cobe Airwyke knocked in the Prospect’s second and final RBI.

 

PARROTTO THROWS NO HITTER; WHITING WHITES OUT PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- Prospects found themselves overwhelmed by Whiting Roll-Offs on Tuesday night. Whiting pitching and hitting was perfectly in sync on their way to a 13-0 victory.

Aidan Leiendecker was a problem at the plate for Whiting. He went 3-3 with 3 RBI and a run scored.  Nathan Craig added another 3 RBI on a 2-2 day. He scored 2 runs as well.  Corbin Sevcik was productive at the plate finishing 1-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI.

The pitching from Nick Parrotto was on point as well. The hurler went all 5 innings for a no hitter. He struck out 6 and walked 1.

PROSPECTS PULL AWAY TO WIN

STRUTHERS OH- Prospects pulled away from Eagle Wear on Monday to get a big team win.  They used a big 5 run first inning to seal the deal in a 9-4 win over Eagle Wear.

Brogan Collins led the offense for Prospects going 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a pair of RBI.  Owen Boone took control of a big bat as well knocking in a run, and scoring one on a 1-3 day.  Carter Knupp was perfect at the plate going 2-2 with a walk and 2 runs scored.

Knupp also pitched his team to victory.  He gave up 0 earned runs on 5 hits. He struck out a pair while walking 1.

Kyler Bourne was tough to handle for Eagle Wear. He went 3-3 on the day with a RBI.  Avery Maley had multiple hits as well going 2-3. Dylan Smith finished 1-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Sam Barber threw the best two innings for Eagle Wear. He gave up 2 hits and 1 run.  He also struck out a batter.

 

CREEKSIDE TAKES THE SERIES AND ADVANCES

STRUTHERS OH- After the Prospects forced a decisive Game 3 earlier in the day, Creekside responded with a wild 12-10 win to take the series and advance to the 16U Class B Finals.

Johnny Leedham had a massive day going 2-4 at the plate and gathering 3 RBI, and a run scored. Paul Connelly went 3-4 with 1 run scored and a RBI. Devin Gruver also had multiple hits going 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Danny Flynn went 1-3 with a run scored, and a pair of RBI.

Nick Magnifico was awarded with the win for Creekside going 3 innings giving up 5 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 5 as well.

Andrew Kirilla walked 3 times and picked up a team leading 3 RBI. Olindo Pezzone went 1-3 with a run scored, and a pair of RBI. Alexander Stowe crossed the plate 3 times on a 1-3 day. He also hit in a RBI. Jake Hettrick had a perfect day going 2-2 with a run scored. He also walked a pair of times.

Pezzone was charged with the loss giving up 0 earned runs on 3 hits in 2 innings pitched. He struck out 3 hitters.

PROSPECTS FORCE A THIRD GAME

STRUTHERS OH- With theit backs against the wall needing a win, the Prospects beat Creekside 8-4 to force a third game in the series. The Prospects scored 4 runs in the 6th inning while the game was tied at 4-4.

Olindo Pezzone notched an amazing day at the plate going 2-3 with 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI. He also walked. Jak Kenney also went 2-3 with 2 RBI. He walked as well. Alexander Stowe went without being retired going 1-1 with a walk and 2 RBI.

Pezzone was given the win on the mound going an inning for the Prosoects and didn’t give up a run on just one hit. He struck out the side. Cobey Airwyke pitched 4 innings with no earned runs on 1 hit. He struck out 3.

Shane Lindstrom went 1-2 on the day for Creekside with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI. Andrew Salupo walked twice with a RBI. Payton Zupko went 1-3 with a run scored.

Zupko was charged with the loss giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. He struck out 1, and walked 3.

PROSPECTS POUND DIAMOND HIT CLUB

STRUTHERS OH- Diamond Hit Club watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 21-12 loss to Prospects on Saturday. Prospects scored on an error, a groundout by Caleb Hadley, and a double by Jake Hettrick in the first inning.

DHC collected nine hits and Prospects had ten in the high-scoring affair.

Prospects got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run.

DHC scored five runs in the fifth inning. Their offense in the inning came from singles by Nick Del Regno and Tim Gamble and a double by Zach Madan.

Prospects scored eight runs in the fifth inning. Jak Kenney, Revington Hart, Hadley, Jack Liepheimer, Hettrick, and Andrew Kirrilla each had RBIs in the big inning.

Cobey Airwyke led things off on the mound for Prospects. The fireballer allowed two hits and two runs over two and a third innings, striking out four.

Jacob Lowery started the game for DHC. The righthander allowed six hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two. Adam Salesky, Jacob Trudick, and Nate McClure each contributed in relief.

DHC racked up nine hits on the day. Vince Cairns, Del Regno, Sam Retton, and Gamble each collected multiple hits. Gamble, Retton, Del Regno, and Cairns each managed two hits to lead.

Prospects totaled ten hits in the game. Hart and Hadley all had multiple hits. Hart led with three hits in five at bats.

PROSPECTS WIN ANOTHER CLOSE ONE

STRUTHERS OH-

Last night in their first game of the NABF World Series, the Prospects 16U club won 4-3 on a walk off balk against the Ohio Longhorns. Friday morning, they’d win 4-3 again, this time against ProNine Baseball.

The Prospects got things started in the first inning when Remington Hart doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Prospects pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. They scored one run on a stolen base.

Jack Liepheimer led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Prospects. The bulldog allowed three hits and two runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Matt Majewski started the game for ProNine. The pitcher surrendered four runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out one. Drew Mckenna threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

ProNine totaled six hits in the game. Mckenna and David Faremouth all managed multiple hits. Faremouth and Mckenna each collected two hits to lead.

Prospects saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Caleb Hadley and Jak Kenney each had multiple hits to lead.

CREEKSIDE JUMPS IN FRONT OF PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- Peospects came in to Sunday’s 16U Class B Playoff series with momentum after their round 1 win. Creekside was able to stem the tide however and outlast Prospects 3-1 to take 1-0 lead in the semifinal series.

Jack Davis was key in Creekside’s win going 1-2 with his teams only 2 RBI of the day.  Paul Connelly went 1-3 with a run scored.  Payton Zupko also collected a hit going 1-2 with a walk, and a run scored.  Devin Gruver went without being retired and collected a 1-1 day with 2 walks, and a run scored.

Nick Magnifico took the win on the bump lasting 7 innings and giving up just 1 run on 3 hits.  He struck out 5.

Jak Kenney went 1-3 for Prospects and scored their only run of the game.  Andrew Kirilla, and Carter Knupp both went 1-2 on the day.  Caleb Hadley worked a walk.

Kirilla was hit with the loss on the mound for Prospects. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits.  He struck out 3.

DURA EDGE WALKS OFF AND TAKES THE SERIES

ISTRUTHERS OH- Dura Edge earned their way into the next round of the 18U Class B playoffs with a tight win over Prospects 3-2.  The game was tied at 1 heading into the 6th inning. The Prospects scored a run taking a 2-1 lead into the 7th, but couldn’t hold on. Dura Edge scored 2 in the bottom of the frame to walk off into the next round.

Tyler Rekich went 1-2 on the day for Dura Edge. He scored a run, walked, and collected a RBI.  Garrett Donaldson, and Caleb Jones both went 1-3 on the day with a RBI.  Kris Scandy, and Nate Rynd both went 1-3 with a run scored.

Donaldson pitched the first 6 innings for Dura and gave up 0 earned runs on 4 hits.  He struck out 5.  Rynd was given the win after cleaning up the 7th inning.

Evan Pirtz went 1-3 for Prospects and knocked in his team’s only RBI.  Luca Bertolasio went 1-3 with a run scored.  Jeremy Kreuzwieser scored his team’s second and final run.

Shane Cato pitched well for Prospects but was the tough luck loser. He went 6 full innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits.  He struck out 3 and only walked 1.
