CRESTVIEW OFFENSE OVERWHELMS WARRIORS

BROOKFIELD OH- On Thursday night the Crestview Rebels took on the Brookfield Warriors in Brookfield for MVAC play. The Rebels had been perfect this season and came in ranked inside the top 100 for the state of Ohio. Brookfield was coming in off to tough road losses to Liberty and Springfield and were trying to get back to winning as they had only lost once at home this season.

The undefeated Rebels got right to work as Abbey Emch waisted no time adding on to her kill numbers this season as she absolutely dominated the first set of the night, The Lady Rebels were the first on the board and they would not allow the Warriors to hold a lead in the first set as they went on to win 25-8 Set two was no different as once again the Rebels jumped out in front early on thanks to some phenomenal serves by Grace Auer and Alyssa Smotherman. The Rebels won set two 25-14. To start the third set the Warriors immediately got out to their only lead of the night as they scored first. Crestview would tie the game back up on the following serve and they would trade blows with Crestview staying on top and after one big run to end it the Rebels won their thirty-sixth set of the season 25-12 over the Warriors.

Abbey Emch was named player of the game as she dropped in 15 kills with a success rate of 65% on the night and four blocks. Grace Auer was next in line for the award as she hit double digits in aces with 10. Crestview’s unblemished record remained perfect as they moved to (12-0) and have still yet to lose a set on the season. They play next Tuesday back at home as they host the Newton Falls Tigers.  Brookfield lost their third straight game and fall to (6-9) and will visit LaBrae next Tuesday.

CRESTVIEW EMPHATICALLY KEEPS HOLD OF FIRST PLACE

COLUMBIANA OH- It was a battle for first place on Thursday night in Crestview as Garfield came to town. Both teams came into the game undefeated. Crestview however sent a message that they are still the class of the division. They quickly swept the Lady G-Men to hold on to the first place spot in the MVAC. (25-10 25-13 25-7)

Abbey Emch finished with a season-high 20 kills as she dominated in the middle.  Grace Auer collected another double double with 16 assists and 11 digs.  She also finished with 7 kills.  Lainy Auer put in a good night with 11 assists and 6 kills.  Emily Downey chipped in 8 digs for the defense.

Crestview will return to the floor Tuesday as they travel to LaBrae. Garfield will continue their season Saturday as they host Berkshire.

MONTGOMERY’S TRIPLE DOUBLE LIFTS CRESTVIEW PAST CARDINALS

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview keeps on rolling in the 2021 season. Their latest victim was Cardinal Mooney, who got swept by the Rebels on Saturday morning. (25-21 25-10 25-19)

Crestview was led by Lucy Montgomery who finished with yet another triple double on the season. She tallied 19 kills, 13 assists, and 11 digs. Grace Auer did the bulk of the setting on the day finishing with 23 assists. She also had 8 kills, and 8 digs. Abbey Emch got in to double figures with 11 kills. She added 5 blocks.

Alaina Scavina led the Cardinals finishing with 12 kills, and 9 digs. Angelina Rotunno set up the offense with a match high 25 assists. Alaina Francis led the team in digs with 13.

Crestview will make up their previously scheduled game at Garfield on Monday. Mooney will stay on the road and travel to Springfield on Monday.

CRESTVIEW LIGHTS UP THE SCOREBOARD

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview ran away from Campbell on Friday night to start MVAC play in dominating fashion. The Rebels took the early lead and never looked back to beat the Red Devils 47-7.

Anthony Cusick had a great day through the air going 15-24 for 237 yards and 3 touchdowns. Roclen Bettura seems to get better every week, as he punished the Campbell defense. He ran for 148 yards on 13 carries, and scored 3 touchdowns. He was also Cusick’s favorite target. Buttera caught 5 passes for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Crestview is 2-2 and will travel to Liberty in Week 5. Campbell will look to bounce back as they are scheduled to travel to Brookfield.
