MOONEY PICKS UP SECOND WIN IN AS MANY NIGHTS

YOUNGSTOWN OH- In an electrifying volleyball showdown, Mooney emerged victorious, showcasing their resilience and determination as they secured a hard-fought win over Salem in four sets. The scores tell the tale of an intense battle: 25-14, 25-23, 19-25, and an exhilarating 27-25 to seal the victory.

Amarra Anderson took center stage for Mooney, delivering a stellar performance with 15 kills and 7 digs. Her ability to put the ball away at crucial moments and contribute defensively proved instrumental in Mooney’s success.

Jaida Lane showcased her prowess at the net with 14 kills and an impressive 5 blocks, leaving Salem’s attackers with a formidable obstacle to overcome. Her combination of offense and defense was a driving force behind Mooney’s performance.

Brinkley Bair displayed her versatility with 10 kills and 13 digs, proving to be a key player in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game. Her ability to transition seamlessly between roles was a valuable asset.

Natalie Blasko orchestrated the offense with precision, accumulating a staggering 40 assists. Her ability to distribute the ball effectively allowed her teammates to shine, and her defensive contributions were equally impressive, amassing 15 crucial digs.

QUAKERS GET SECOND EBC WIN

Salem boys soccer secured their second conference win tonight beating Minerva 4-1.

Scoring goals for Salem were Lance Bailey with 2, AR Berlin 1, and Tim Stephens 1. Assisting on the goals were Troy Gibson 1 , Cory Plunkett 1 and Ar Berlin 1.

Colin Reisen had 5 saves in goal.

Salem improves to 5-1-2 on the season and 2-0-0 in the EBC.

Salem will play next Tuesday September 20th against Carrollton at home at 6pm.

QUAKERS SURVIVE CARROLLTON TO CONTINUE WIN STREAK

SALEM OH- Even though last night was senior night, this evening was the “seniors” night. In the top of the 7th inning Jenna McClish lead off with a single then stole second. After two players struck out fellow senior Rylie Troy hit an RBI single scoring Jenna in what would be the deciding run. Troy & McClish combined to get on base in all 9 at bats. Rylie was 5-5 with a triple, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI & 3 stolen bases. It’s no wonder she’s nominated for Big Dog player of the week. Jenna went 2-2 with 2 walks. She also scored twice & stole a base.

Mack Zumbar & Chase Toy each had three hits & two RBI. Bella Brant singled & doubled. Kylie Skinner, Channing Toy & Lauryn Barton each had a hit. Sophie Maniscalco reached base twice & pinch hitter Sami Gainor was robbed of 2 RBI by a great catch in center.

Rylie Troy was the winning pitcher & now has 10 wins. She added 5 k’s pushing her over the century mark on the season.

The Lady Quakers are now 10-9 on the season. The 10 wins ties for the third highest win total in a season for Salem Softball since 1998 & there’s still a lot of games left.

Salem is now 4-1 in games decided by 1 run.
