NORWAYNE OH- Mineral Ridge came into Saturday’s round 2 matchup as one of the hottest teams in the area outscoring opponents 133-16 in the last three games. Norwayne brought the fire hose to quickly cool off the Rams and end their playoff run 55-14.

Mark Bunch finished the night for the Rams going 13 for 24 with 99 yards and 2 touchdowns. Shakir Perkins gained 35 yards on 10 carries. Mineral Ridge could only manage 177 total yards of offense.

The Rams are eliminated from the playoffs and carry a record of 4-4. They are still eligible to schedule regular season games until week 10. Stay tuned for schedule updates.


MINERAL RIDGE OH- Coming Off their big win in week 5 of them undefeated Jackson Milton, Mineral Ridge kept rolling with another dominating victory over Lowellville 48-8. Ridge jumped ahead early and never looked back.

Shakir Perkins ran the ball 11 times and still gained 101 yards while punching it in the end zone 4 times. Mark Bunch threw the ball accurately for the Rams. He went 8-15 for 149 yards and a touchdown. Mineral Ridge’s defense forced 5 Rocket turnovers.

Vinny Ballone finished with 44 yards on 12 carries. He also went 9-30 with a touchdown as the Rockets struggled all night in the game.

Mineral Ridge will host Wellington in round 1 of the OHSAA playoffs on Friday. Lowellville will also host a first round game on Friday as they’ll play host to Valley Christian.


STRUTHERS OH-  Three late runs by the Prospects helped them tie the game up a 4-4 against Dura Edge. They couldn’t score the last game tying run, so the game was ended in a tie.

Brandon Popio went 2-4 for Prospects with a run scored and a RBI. Shakir Perkins went 2-2 with a walk and a RBI. Jared Liepheimer went 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

On Dura Edge’s offense, Nick Leasure went 1-3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Anthony Malagise went 1-1 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.

Popio went 3 innings for the Prospects on the mound. He gave up 0 runs on 1 hit. He struck out a batter.

Nate Rynd pitched 5 innings for Dura Edge. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits and struck out a pair.


STRUTHERS OH- It was all Prospects on Sunday in their game against Roth Brothers. Their offense was electric, as they scored 15 runs on 14 hits. Their pitching didn’t disappoint either. They held Roth Brothers to just one run.

Jake Hettrick was perfect at the plate for Prospects going 2-2 with a walk, scoring a run, and collecting 2 RBI. Shakir Perkins went 2-3 with 2 RBI, he also scored a run.

Christian Mudrey has a good day for Roth Brothers going 2-3 and scoring a run. Derek Porter went 1-1 on the day.

Drew Kirilla got the win for Prospects on the bump. He went 4 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits. He struck out 5.
