THE SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR BEIDELSCHIES
FAYETTEVILLE, ARK- Landon Beidelschies, a standout left-handed pitcher from Canfield, Ohio, made his hometown proud with an impressive showing for the University of Arkansas at this year’s College World Series in Omaha. The journey from throwing no-hitters in high school to pitching under the brightest lights of college baseball has been one “dream come true,” Beidelschies shared on the YSN podcast with hosts DJ Yokley and Anthony Hartwig.
Beidelschies, affectionately known as “Big Cheese,” turned heads with a lights-out performance against LSU, striking out nine in five innings—his career high with the Razorbacks. Despite the team’s heartbreak in the elimination game, Beidelschies’ poise and resilience were evident. He candidly discussed the mental challenges of not knowing if he’d get the ball, saying, “I was just happy to be there. Then, I get told I’m starting in the elevator after a win over UCLA. The gravity didn’t hit me until I got to the hotel—LSU, elimination game, 30,000 in the stadium. Just a lot of excitement, not anxiety.”
The loss to LSU was a tough pill for the entire team, but Beidelschies quickly became a role model for younger athletes, consoling his left fielder after a tough break and emphasizing the importance of being a good teammate. “That’s the greatest part of this game—the family aspect. I met that guy 10 months ago and I’d go to war with him,” he said.
Looking ahead, Beidelschies is preparing for the MLB draft, sharing his story as inspiration for others. “Never say never. Work hard enough, and you can make your dreams happen,” he advised. He hopes to eventually coach the next generation, crediting coaches from Canfield to Arkansas, emphasizing that “the work never stops, and the deeper you get, the harder you have to push.”
From regional pizza debates to the camaraderie of Razorback baseball, Beidelschies leaves a lasting impression both on and off the mound. As he eyes a professional career, his grit and grounded approach will undoubtedly continue to inspire both teammates and fans across the country.
