MCDONALD LADY BLUE DEVILS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 3) WITH TONY MATISI AND MIKE KOLLAR

DAYTON, OH – Head coach Tony Matisi, assistant coach Mike Kollar, and the McDonald Lady Blue Devils are flying high and eager to take on the Fort Loramie Redskins tomorrow morning in the OHSAA Division IV State Championship game at the University of Dayton! The Lady Blue Devils defeated Waterford yesterday, 57-29, to clinch their spot in Saturday’s championship game.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach Matisi and Coach Kollar via video chat this morning to discuss the emotion that the team and coaching staff are feeling knowing they are one game away from history. They also talked about the state semi-final game against Waterford, what the Lady Blue Devils need to do to stay focused, and an outlook on Fort Loramie and how McDonald can make their mark on history tomorrow morning!

MCDONALD, OH – The Lady Blue Devils are back in the OHSAA State FInal Four for the first time since 199 and head coach Tony Matisi, Mike Kollar, and the team are all excited and eager to hit the hardwood in Dayton on Thursday afternoon! The Lady Blue Devils defeated Shadyside 58-50 to capture the regional championship on Saturday afternoon to set up a final four match up with Waterford.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Matisi and Coach Kollar this week via video chat to discuss the regional championship game, the incredible run that McDonald is currently on, what this final four berth means to the community, the team, and them, as well as what the Lady Blue Devils need to do to advance to the state championship game.

EAST PALESTINE OH- The McDonald Girls Basketball program has been one of the most successful teams in the area the last few years. And now, their search for a new coach is over. McDonald has approved the hiring of Tony Matisi as head basketball coach. Tony has a long track record of having instant success with the program’s he takes over. It shouldn’t be too hard for the Blue Devils, as the roster is loaded with talent.

Coach Matisi called in to YSN’s Running Point on Friday to talk about his new job, how important summer ball is, and much more.
