MESMERIZING METZKA

STRUTHERS, OH – When you think of Struthers Wildcats basketball, one might think of the hallowed grounds where they play home games inside the Struthers Fieldhouse, you might think of gritty old school basketball, or you might think about how the 2020-2021 Wildcats are currently undefeated at 11-0 so far. But what sticks out the most is how this team has come together and plays as a complete unit that is led by a great senior class and an individual leader who wants to make every moment count and makes everyone around him better on and off the floor. That player is the focus of our senior spotlight today, starting guard, Trey Metzka!

Metzka, currently in the middle of his senior basketball campaign, will be the first to give credit to his teammates before ever claiming any success on his own, but not only that, he will be the first to tell you that he is not even worried about individual success, he just wants to win! This mindset has been adopted by everyone on the team and because of that, the Wildcats are firing on all cylinders and looks like there is no slowing down in the near future! Up next for Trey and Struthers will be three games this week starting off with a match up against Villa Angela-St. Joseph at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland tomorrow then back to back NE8 conference games against Girard on Tuesday and Jefferson on Friday.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Trey via video chat this week to talk about the current season, how COVID has effected him and his senior season on the hardwood, what his plans are for after high school, a rapid-fire question session to see just what makes Metzka the player and person he is, and much much more!

Take some time today to check out this exclusive player profile with Struthers Wildcats basketball senior star, Trey Metzka!
