VALLEY VICTORIOUS IN DEFENSIVE STRUGGLE

LISBON OH- Neither offense on Friday night between Lisbon and Valley and Christian was flashy. The game was scoreless heading into halftime, and two Valley touchdowns were enough to win it in the second half 12-7.

Joey Batista found TrayVonne Clark for a 23 yard touchdown pass to put the Eagles on the board. Lisbon blocked the extra point to keep the Eagles at 6. Malachi Gibbs added a three run power run into the promise line for Valley’s next touchdown. The PAT was missed to keep Lisbon in the game.

Tyler Welsh Gabe Lisbon the hope they needed with a late 16 yard touchdown run to bring the score to 12-7. Lisbon couldn’t manage to get the ball back though, and that would be the final score.

Valley will try to build on the victory as they host a tough Southern team next week. Lisbon will host Columbiana to close out the regular season.

BEARS FEAST ON LISBON IN SPAGHETTI BOWL

Leetonia OH- Leetonia comes into tonight’s contest (2-0) facing off against Lisbon (0-2) for the annual Spaghetti Bowl. Lisbon and Leetonia will have their 107^thmatchup against each other with Lisbon holding the all-time record of 54-49-3.

Leetonia on their first drive would let senior runningback Marco Ferry carry them down the field for their first touchdown and two-point conversion to start the game 8-0. Lisbon would not let that affect their moral as they drove right down the field on their first drive with QB Tyler Welsh and RB Ryan McCullough taking them down into the redzone. Welsh would then throw a touchdown pass to McCullough and a two-point conversion to tie the game 8-8. Ferry and the Bears would answer right back for the rest of the half with Marco Ferry scoring two more touchdowns to end the half 22-8.

To start the second half Leetonia would keep on the pressure to end the 3^rdquarter with a Ferry touchdown and a Dylan Durick to extend their lead to 38-8. As the continuous clock ran down the 4^th in which no team would score. Making the final score 38-8 as Leetonia extend their record to (3-0) beating Lisbon which would fall to (0-3). All-time record for Spaghetti Bowl will get closer as Leetonia closes the gap still behind Lisbon 54-50-3.

QUAKERS GRAB LATE LEAD, DOWN DEVILS

SALEM, OH- It’s been a rocky start to the season for the Lisbon Blue Devils. Leads have been hard to hold late, and Thursday proved to be much of the same. Lisbon lost the lead late in a 7-4 defeat to Salem on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Salem batting in the bottom of the fifth when Blaise Exline doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

The Blue Devils opened up scoring in the first inning when Seth Seddon induced Nick Mundy to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored for Lisbon.

On the bump, Seddon earned the win for Salem. He surrendered three runs on one hit over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Josh Young and Ricky Enlow entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Garrett Cox took the loss for Lisbon. He allowed six hits and seven runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Offensively, Mundy, Tyler Welsh, Jaikep Entrikin, and Blake Reynolds each collected one hit to lead the boys in blue.

Adam Wilson led Salem with two hits in three at-bats.
