EAGLES CRUISE PAST EAST PALESTINE

EAST PALESTINE OH- Valley Christian got some major traction to head into the postseason on Friday night. The Eagles offense who had been struggling for a couple weeks caught fire to beat the Bulldogs 37-0.

It took a quarter of the game to find a rhythm, the Eagles only led 7-0 after one quarter. Two blocked punts for touchdowns in the second quarter seemed to be what struck the match for the Eagles though. It gave them a 22-0 lead. Joey Battista then found Jon’Trell Mixon for a score to make it 29-0 and let the Eagles run away with it.

Valley Christian will qualify for the OHSAA playoffs and await a Week 11 matchup. Stay tuned to YSN for further updates on schedules and pairings for postseason football.

VALLEY SHUTS DOWN TIGERS

CAMPBELL, OHIO. The Valley Christain Eagles took on the visiting Wellsville Tigers at John Knapick Field.

The first half was all defense for both sides as both offenses were plagued by penalties and turnovers and the score stood at 0-0 going into halftime. After an inspirational speech by Head Coach Andy Hake, the Eagles stormed the field and took control of the games as the defense remained strong as the combination of Jon’trell Mixon and Jon’qual Pabellon was just too dominant for the Tigers offense to handle.

The Eagles offense took off as multiple players including runningback, Cameron Davenport and wideout, Raquan Bell showed off their speed as the Eagles shutout the Tigers winning 19 to 0.

The Eagles now improve to 5-3 and will finish off their season next week against East Palestine.

VALLEY’S WINGS CLIPPED BY INDIANS

CAMPBELL, OHIO. The Southern Indians traveled to John Knapick Field to take on the Valley Christian Eagles. Southern flexed to stay atop the EOAC with a 46-22 win.

In the first half in was all Southern as they blanked the Eagles 46 to 0 in the first half as the eagles offense struggled to get moving and had and couple of turnovers that were returned for touchdowns.

The eagles led by veteran head coach Andy Hake came out in the second half and blanked the Indians 22 to 0 as the offense led by quarter back Joey Battista, wide receiver Veshun Gurley, and running back Cameron Davenport scored on multiple drives in the second half.

Unfortunately as the Eagles were down by more than 30 points at half the running clock began and time just simply ran out of the Eagles as they fall 46-22 to the Southern Indians.

EAGLES SOAR ON SATURDAY NIGHT

CAMPBELL, OH- It was a rough night for the Columbiana Clippers and company, however for Valley Christian not so much. Led by senior QB Joey Battista, the Eagles got off to a good start and found themselves up at half 14-6. The second half saw more of the same from Valley Christian which consisted of big runs from Cameron Davenport and Ja’Sean Lindsey.

On the defensive side of things, Junior Jon’Trell Mixon was a force all night long for the eagles. Racking up nearly 10+ tackles by halftime alone, Mixon would not be denied. Mixon picked up multiple sacks, a blocked punt, and led the team in tackles. The big 6’4” 235lb Junior will be most definitely be a name to watch all season long. The major turning point in the game was on the punt block by Mixon, which was scooped up by Camden Cecil-Cox and taken 23 yards out into the endzone to give Valley Christian a 21-6 lead.
VehShun Gurley would haul in a touchdown pass from the arm of Cam Davenport that made the score 28-14.
Valley Christian gets it done tonight by a score of 35-20.
Columbiana will ramp up for East Palestine, while Valley will prep for Southen at home next Saturday night.
