After a scoreless first quarter which included Campbell getting two turnovers on their first two drives, Valley Christian got on the board first as Campbell’s special teams botched a punt and Cam Davenport was there to scoop it up for the touchdown, with the two-point conversion to make it 8-0. After a long 52-yard touchdown pass from Joey Batista to make the score 22-0, Campbell was able to make one of their few highlights of the night. Valley Chrisitan then scored 13 more points to end the contest.

VALLEY WINS BATTLE OF EAGLES

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio –

For the second night in a row, Hubbard (5-11) was a part of a battle of the Eagles. On Wednesday, Hubbard played host to the Warren JFK Eagles in a game that saw them lose at home. Last night, Hubbard traveled to take on the Valley Christian Eagles (13-4).

In their previous game, Hubbard came out firing in the 1st quarter, putting up an impressive 25 points. Last night, however, was a completely different story. Only one shot would go in from the field for Hubbard in the first, while Valley Christian hit 3 three pointers and 4 shots from inside the arc, giving them a 17-4 lead at the end of the quarter.

Valley’s domination didn’t stop there, the Eagles were led by Sekou Stanley’s impressive 10-pointsecond quarter. While Hubbard saw more production in the second, totaling 9 points for the quarter, it was not nearly enough to keep pace with Valley Christian’s 21 points to head into the break.

Despite the first half struggles, the HubbardEagles kept fighting. Valley Christian outscored Hubbard by just 1 in the second half. If not for Hubbard coming out sluggish in the first half, the game could have been closer.
