HARDING THROWS BACK AND THROWS OFTEN, BEAT IRISH

WARREN, OH- Warren Harding throwback night brought back the Warren Panthers back from the past for one night only. The Panthers would play classic Panther defense forcing multiple turnovers against the Ursuline Irish. The Irish were held scoreless the whole night. The Warren Harding Panthers(Raiders) win throwback night 34-0.

Warren Harding started their scoring early in the first quarter with a Sack Fumble in the endzone that was recovered by Defensive End Jabari Felton to give the Panthers(Raiders) the early lead, 7-0. After another costly fumble by the Irish, Warren Harding Quarterback Marcus Brown would find Wide Receiver Brandon Arnold in the back of the endzone for a 5-yard touchdown reception to increase the lead to 14-0. In the second quarter, Warren Harding would add to their Panther(Raider) lead after Kicker Cavin Stouffer made a 21-yard field goal to make the game 17-0. Stouffer would add another field goal from 25 yards out to make the game 20-0 before halftime.
Third-quarter was all Warren Harding after a 46-yard touchdown catch from Wide Receiver Jamal Anderson made the game 27-0. Warren Harding would score once more to seal the victory after a 20-yard touchdown run by Running Back Elizah’ Smith gave the Panthers(Raiders) the victory 34-0. The Ursuline Irish(0-5) will play Chaney at Stambaugh Stadium next week. Warren Harding(3-2) will play Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary’s next week in Akron.

LADY QUAKERS SPLIT WEEKEND SERIES WITH HARDING

WARREN, OH-

GAME ONE: SALEM- 8    WARREN G. HARDING- 0

Taylor Thorpe’s RBI double in the third inning scoring Rylie Troy got the Quakers out to a 1-0 lead. Brooke Veglia belted a homerun in the 6th scoring her good friend Meg Rossero to put the route in motion. Brooke Veglia added a rbi single in the 5 run 7th for the Lady Quakers. Meg Rossero, Elly Exline and Rylie Troy each had two hits in the game. Madison Markovich nailed a double to the fence and added a single. Hayden Carner chipped in with a single in the 12 hit parade.

Taylor Thorpe raised her regular season out of conference record the past two seasons to 18-0 with a three-hit shutout.

The Salem defense played error-free ball with 15 total outs recorded by infielders. Hannah Kelm had the most chances with 6 on defense. Elly Exline and Brooke Veglia had 5 each.

 

GAME TWO:  WARREN G. HARDING- 10     SALEM- 4

Brooke Veglia had three more hits including a double in the second game of the doubleheader to take her hitting streak to 8 games. Meg Rossero and Elly Exline also stayed hot with 3 hits each in the game. Taylor Thorpe extended her hitting streak to 11 games with a single.

The Quakers stranded 12 runners in the game.

Thorpe took the loss in the circle. Freshman Rylie Troy came on in relief and struck out the first two batters she faced and ended with 3 on the evening.

Elly Exline was involved in 7 outs defensively from her third base position with 0 errors.

The Quakers are now 11-5 on the season and senior night is slated for Monday vs Canton South.

Despite the score, the Lady Quakers kept their streak of not getting out hit or struck out – in every game this season.

LAKEVIEW VICTORIOUS WITH KELM AT THE HELM

WARREN, OH- The Lakeview Lady Bulldogs have been testing on the learning curve as of late, but on Friday it was the Lady Dogs that were teaching the lesson in extra innings.  Lakeview took the lead late in the game in a 9-5 victory over Harding on Friday. The game was tied at five with Lakeview batting in the top of the eighth when Mariah Tackett doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

The Bulldogs got things started in the first inning. Lakeview scored one run when Raegan Schick singled.  Lakeview earned the victory despite allowing Harding to score three runs in the fourth inning. Berry and Stanton both drove in runs in the frame.

In the top of the seventh inning, Lakeview tied things up at five. Abbie Campana drove in two when she singled.  Cait Kelm led the Lady Bulldogs to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She went two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Stanton took the loss for Harding. She lasted eight innings, allowing 15 hits and nine runs while striking out five and walking one.

Schick started the game for the Dogs. She surrendered five runs on eight hits over five and a third innings, striking out four.

Offensively, Lakeview tallied 16 hits in the game. SchickOlivia KelmBeady TitusCaly Lantz, and Tackett each had multiple hits for LakeviewKelm and Schick each collected three hits to lead the team.

Harding totaled ten hits. Stanton and Schuller all managed multiple hits for Harding. Stanton led Harding with three hits in four at-bats.

LADY FALCONS SOAR PAST HARDING

AUSTINTOWN, OH- The firm of Simons, Spalding, and Taylor shut down the Raiders 10-2 on Tuesday night.  Lydia Spalding struck out 8 in only 3 innings of work and at the plate was a HR shy of the cycle.

Behind her, Senior Lainie Simons drilled a home run and Maddy Taylor contributed 2 singles and a round-tripper while contributing 3 runs batted in.

FALCONS BATTLE BACK TO REJECT RAIDERS

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Warren G. Harding set the pace early, but it was the never say die Fitch Falcons that were standing tall at the end of the night.

Warren Harding jumped on the Falcons early, scoring 4 runs in the first inning all with two outs, but it was all Austintown Fitch after that.   Pat Coleman threw the complete game, allowing 4 runs while scattering 7 hits, and striking out 10 in the process.

At the plate for Fitch, Christian Myers belted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 2nd inning to ignite the Falcons’ bats.  Myers would go 2-3 on the night.  Lorenzo Russo and Kenny Misik would add 2 RBI nights to their resume as well. Alarik Sierra and Russo also blazed the basepaths with 3 stolen bags each.

HIGGINBOTTHAM GOES THE DISTANCE AS FITCH SLIDES PAST RAIDERS 6-0

WARREN, OH-  The Fitch Falcons continued their winning ways on Monday. Trey Giannini, Jake Lawrence, and Alarik Sierra stayed hot on offense as all went 1 for 3 with an RBI for Austintown Fitch.

On the mound for the Falcons, Devin Higginbottham threw the complete game, 7 innings pitched, allowing just 3 hits and 0 runs, while striking out 6 batters.  The Falcons will reset and resume their two-game set tomorrow at home against Warren Harding as they attempt to sweep the season series.

The game will be featured on YSN beginning at 5pm.
