CLIPPERS LAND ANOTHER WIN

COLUMBIANA OH-  Columbiana came out swinging and never took the foot off the gas in a 17-1 beatdown over Wellsville on Wednesday.

Addison Brode led the charge with a monster day at the plate—three hits, including a bomb in the first, and four RBIs to light up the scoreboard. She followed that up with a double in the second and a knock in the fourth to round out the stat sheet.

Wellsville did scratch across the game’s first run on a groundout in the top of the first, but it was all Clippers from there.

Columbiana answered with a four-run bottom half, sparked by a Caitlynn Pleska RBI double and Brode’s two-run homer. Anna Yonker chipped in with a run-scoring single to cap the inning.

Then the floodgates opened in the second and third. Pleska drove in two more, Brode kept dealing damage with another RBI double, and Cameron Perkins added a run-scoring single. In the third, the Clippers put up six more, with Perkins clearing the bases on a double and Alivia Bell tacking on another run.

Maryn Hepler joined the long ball party in the fourth with a solo shot to center, and Pleska and Brode each drove in another run to close out the scoring frenzy.

Peyton Stoy got the start and handled business, going the distance with five strong innings, allowing just two hits and an unearned run while punching out four.

Columbiana piled up a ridiculous 20 hits on the day. Hepler and Pleska each went 4-for-4, while Brode, Perkins, Yonker, and Bell all had multi-hit outings. Brode, Pleska, and Perkins each knocked in four runs in the blowout win. Next up for the Clippers: a Thursday road trip to face Howland.

LISBON PUSHES PAST THE TIGERS

LISBON OH-  Lisbon used a late push to slip past Wellsville 4-3 on Wednesday, breaking a tie in the fifth and holding on the rest of the way. Wellsville came out swinging, jumping ahead early with a triple and a single to plate a pair in the first. They added another run in the third to retake the lead after Lisbon tied things up in the opening frame.

But Lisbon chipped away. They knotted it up again in the third, then cashed in the go-ahead run in the fifth with a base hit that made it 4-3—and that was the difference.

The real story? Lisbon’s arm on the mound. He was flat-out dominant, punching out 18 across nearly seven full innings while giving up just five hits and three runs.

Wellsville’s starter went the distance as well, grinding through six innings with eight strikeouts, but a few free passes and a couple timely Lisbon swings made the difference.

Wellsville’s cleanup guy did most of the damage at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. The Tigers also turned a double play to help keep things tight defensively.

Lisbon, meanwhile, played clean ball in the field and spread out the offense just enough to grab the win. Next up, Lisbon hits the road for a matchup with Chaney on Thursday.

EAGLES GRASP A WIN IN THEIR TALONS

WELLSVILLE OH— Parker Newburn was locked in Thursday night, dominating on the bump and swinging a hot bat as United rolled past Wellsville 10-1.

Newburn was in full control, mowing down 17 Tigers in a complete game two-hitter. He gave up just one run and walked only one batter over seven innings. Pure command, pure filth.

He wasn’t just dealing—he was raking too. Newburn went 3-for-4 at the dish with two doubles and a single, spraying the ball all over the yard.

United came out swinging in the first. Newburn kicked things off with a base hit, Wyatt Swanson followed with a shot to center, and a Wellsville miscue opened the door for a four-run inning. Swanson later tagged and scored on a sac fly to help make it 4-0 out of the gate.

Cavan Jackson added to the lead in the second with an RBI single down the line, and United never looked back. They piled on 12 hits total and swiped 10 bags while playing clean in the field—no errors, just good baseball.

Newburn and Quentin Taylor both finished with three hits apiece. Jackson chipped in two of his own and helped lead the running game, along with Newburn and Taylor, each swiping multiple bases.

Wellsville managed just two hits and one run on the day and couldn’t build any momentum against Newburn’s dominance. United gets right back at it Friday with a road trip to Salem.

SOUTHERN USES FAST START TO EARN GRITTY WIN

WELLSVILLE OH-  Southern Local and Wellsville got into a wild one Monday, but it was the Indians who came out on top with a 12-11 win.

Raelea Carosiello was huge at the plate, going 3-for-5 and blasting a solo homer to right in the seventh to break an 11-11 tie and give Southern the edge for good. She also doubled in the second and singled in the third to help set the tone early.

It was a slugfest from the jump. Southern jumped out quick in the first after a couple of Wellsville errors and a Kennedy Lewis RBI single. Makenna Jones tripled in the second to tack on three more, and RBI singles from Lidia Spahlinger and Carosiello stretched it to 8-0 early.

But Wellsville stormed back in the third, hanging a seven-spot thanks to a handful of hits and some Southern miscues. They tied it up again in the fourth with an inside-the-park homer and a double.

Southern looked like they pulled away in the sixth after Breena Frischkorn singled in two, but Wellsville kept clawing, tying it again with a fielder’s choice and a groundout. That’s when Carosiello stepped up and hammered the game-winner in the seventh.

Addy Martin gutted it out in the circle for Southern, throwing all seven innings and striking out nine despite giving up nine hits and 11 runs (six earned). Landess took the loss for Wellsville, fanning 14 but giving up 12 runs (six earned) on 10 hits.

Jones led the way with three RBIs for Southern. Frischkorn had two hits, and the Indians stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping six bags on the night.

Wellsville had some big swings too, with Vallera picking up three hits and Landess adding two more. They ran wild too, stealing five bases as a team. Southern heads to Beaver Local next for a Tuesday matchup.

UNITED UNWAVERING DURING DOUBLEHEADER

HANOVERTON OH- United came out swinging on Friday and never let up, blasting Wellsville in both ends of a doubleheader with scores of 21-1 and 16-0.

Game 1: United 21, Wellsville 1

The Golden Eagles wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard. In the first inning alone, they piled it on — an error opened the gates, Josie Wargo punched an RBI single, Grace Coffee brought in two with a groundout, Jillian Dietrich ripped a two-run triple, Payten Kekel slapped an RBI single, and a wild pitch tacked on one more.

United kept their foot on the gas in the third, hanging nine runs on eight hits. Callie Koons started it with a single, Chloe Angelo tripled to drive one in, Kekel followed with a single, Coffee tripled in two more, and Dietrich picked up another two-run knock before Angelo capped the rally with another RBI single.

Dietrich got the ball for United and was solid, giving up just one hit and an unearned run over four innings while striking out six. United racked up 15 hits, with Dietrich, Kekel, Angelo, Koons, and Wargo each picking up two knocks. Lacey showed patience at the dish, working three of United’s seven walks.

Rylee Brown picked up the lone hit for Wellsville.

Game 2: United 16, Wellsville 0

If Game 1 wasn’t enough, United came out even hotter in Game 2, exploding for 11 runs in the first inning alone.

Josie Wargo led the way, crushing a two-run double early, then blasting a two-run homer to right field later in the same frame. Chloe Angelo got things started with an RBI double, Brittany Miller drove in a run with a single, Koons punched a two-run single, and Payten Kekel doubled home another pair before Wargo’s big fly put the exclamation point on the inning.

United kept piling on. In the second, Dietrich singled in a run, Koons added a sac fly, and a Wellsville error pushed across another. RBI singles by Kendall Erb and Miller in the third pushed the lead to 16-0.

Kekel took the ball and dominated, tossing four hitless innings, striking out seven, and walking two. United racked up a ridiculous 17 hits, with Miller, Angelo, and Wargo each racking up three apiece. Koons and Lacey also had multi-hit games. Defensively, United was clean all afternoon, not committing a single error.

United flat-out rolled on Friday — pounding the ball, running the bases aggressively, and playing flawless defense across both games. Next up, the Golden Eagles hit the road Monday for a showdown with Alliance.

PALESTINE TAKES TWO FROM THE TIGERS

EAST PALESTINE OH-  East Palestine’s softball squad picked up a clean sweep over Wellsville on Wednesday, riding big bats and clutch pitching in a doubleheader that saw the Bulldogs explode offensively in both games. Down 4-0 after the first inning? No problem.

East Palestine stormed back with a monster fourth inning to drop Wellsville 14-6 in the opener. Kennedy Andre was the spark plug, driving in five runs on a pair of clutch singles—one in the second that scored two, and another in the fourth that cleared the bases and flipped the game on its head.

The Bulldogs tied it in the second off Andre’s bat and a Wellsville miscue, then slammed the door with a 9-run eruption in the fourth on just five hits. They kept the pressure on all game with aggressive base running, swiping seven bags, while Andre also handled business in the circle—five innings, three hits, six runs (four earned), nine punchouts.

Taylor and Maddison Foster both chipped in two hits, and the team showed patience at the plate, working six walks.

Game two was more control from start to finish as East Palestine jumped out early and kept the foot on the gas for a 12-3 win.

Maddison Foster got the scoring started with an RBI single in the first, and Kennedy Andre followed with another RBI knock in the second. Sydney Jurjavcic added some flair by stealing home in the third.

The Bulldogs busted things wide open again in the fourth with a five-run frame—Andre, Taylor Foster, Graycee Ford, and Lilly Ratner all brought runs home to push the game out of reach.

Andre picked up another win in the circle, going 4.2 innings, giving up just five hits and three runs while striking out five.

At the plate, the Bulldogs racked up 10 hits. Maddison Foster led the RBI charge with three, while Jurjavcic, Foster, Andre, and Alivia Magness each collected two hits. Cami Kridler swiped two of the team’s five stolen bases in another aggressive showing. East Palestine hits the road Monday for a showdown with Lisbon, looking to keep the hot streak rolling.

DOTA HITS FOR THE CYCLE IN CLIPPERS ROUT

COLUMBIANA OH- Ella Dota had herself a day—hit for the cycle and powered Columbiana to a 20-0 beatdown of Wellsville on Tuesday. She singled and homered in the first, tripled in the third, and capped it with a double in the fourth. Pure domination at the plate.

The Clippers came out swinging in the first and dropped a 10-piece before Wellsville could blink. Addison Brode doubled in a run, Cameron Perkins knocked in two with a double of her own, and Alivia Bell, Landry Smith, and Kyla Hogan each drove in a run. Then Dota stepped in and unloaded a three-run bomb to left. An error tacked on one more for good measure.

They added another in the third on a sac fly from Caitlynn Pleska, then buried Wellsville in the fourth with an eight-run avalanche. Maryn Hepler knocked in one, Dota smoked a bases-clearing double, Perkins added two more with a single, Bell brought one in, and Hogan capped it with another RBI knock.

In the circle, Pleska handled business—three innings, one hit, no runs, eight Ks, no walks. Peyton Stoy came in to finish it off with two no-hit innings, fanning five and walking one.

Columbiana racked up 25 hits. Hogan, Hepler, Anna Yonker, Bell, Perkins, Pleska, and Brode all had multi-hit games. Clean defense too—no errors, with Perkins leading the way in the field with eight plays. Next up, the Clippers head to East Palestine on Wednesday looking to keep the bats hot.

CLIPPERS BRING THE RAIN IN SEASON OPENER

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana absolutely unloaded on Friday, steamrolling Wellsville 27-0 at Firestone Park in a game that was over not long after it started.

Sam Inboden was the spark plug, driving in seven runs on three hits—including a pair of bases-clearing doubles that broke the game wide open. The Clippers hung a 15-spot in the first inning and never looked back.

That first inning was pure chaos. Rocco Mediate, Dan Goehring, Blake Unger, and a whole parade of Clippers got in on the action with singles, walks, wild pitches, and a couple of Wellsville errors that only poured gas on the fire. Inboden’s three-run double and Unger’s two-run knock capped it off.

Then came the second—just for good measure. Eight more runs. Goehring roped a three-run double, and Max Conway launched a no-doubt grand slam to left that had the crowd on its feet.

Inboden also got it done on the bump, tossing three scoreless innings and giving up just one hit while punching out four. Drennen Bosela came in and shut the door, striking out four in two perfect frames.

At the dish, Columbiana racked up 12 hits and worked 13 walks. Goehring, Conway, and Unger each picked up multi-hit games. Bosela, Young, Roush, and Mediate showed patience, drawing two walks apiece. The Clippers are back in action Monday at home against East Palestine.
