EP WINS BACK TO BACK GAMES WITH HOT BATS

NEW WATERFORD, OH- The Bulldogs are going streaking, winning their second consecutive game and Kyler Bourne was unstoppable at the plate, nabbing four hits in four at-bats to lead East Palestine to a solid 9-1 win over Wellsville. Bourne was everywhere, tripling in the sixth, doubling in the third, and adding singles in the first and fifth innings.

The Bulldogs got their scoring started in the first inning off a ground out by Logen Guy. They didn’t let up, boosting their lead in the third when Tommy Beatty doubled, Bourne followed with his double, and Peyton Rutledge chipped in with a single, each driving in a run.

On the mound, Phoenix Marvin was in fine form, picking up the win for East Palestine. He pitched six strong innings, giving up just one unearned run on five hits, striking out seven and walking five. On the other side, Landess took the loss for Wellsville after yielding eight earned runs over nearly six innings.

The Bulldogs’ bats were hot, totaling 13 hits for the game. Cale Moraski also shined, picking up three hits and swiping four bases. The team was aggressive on the bases all game long, stealing a total of four bases and turning two double plays to keep Wellsville in check.

For Wellsville, Paige had a perfect day at the plate as well, going 3-for-3, and Dowling managed to steal two bases, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs are set to face the Leetonia Bears on the road and return home for United this Thursday. 

LUSBON KEEPING THE EOAC ON LOCKDOWN

WELLSVILLE OH- Maintaining their flawless record in EOAC play, Lisbon delivered a commanding performance on Friday, dominating Wellsville on the road with a decisive 65-29 victory. Trevor Siefke led the scoring charge with an impressive 32 points, complemented by Hunter Dailey contributing 17 points and Alex Schreffler adding 9 points to the total.

On the opposing side, Wellsville’s Richie Dowling tallied 9 points, while Tyrell Watkins added 8 points, but it wasn’t enough to stem Lisbon’s dominant display.

With this win, Lisbon remains undefeated in EOAC with a 15-2 record. Their next challenge takes them outside the conference as they face Heartland Christian on the road next Tuesday.

TIGERS MAKE THE FINAL JUMP IN OVERTIME

HANOVERTON OH- In a hard-fought battle on Friday, Wellsville had to scratch and claw their way to an overtime victory over United, securing a 56-49 win. The Eagles dominated the extra frame with a 10-3 advantage.

Wellsville’s Tyrell Watkins led the scoring charge with an impressive 29 points, supported by Elijah Douglas with 11, and Richie Dowling contributing 7.

United’s effort was led by Luke Courtney with 17 points, closely followed by Trent Ellyson with 16. Jason Pratt and Loudon Stryffeler each added 6 points to the team’s total.

With this thrilling win, Wellsville (8-7) aims to build momentum as they travel to East Palestine on Tuesday. United (7-9) will look to bounce back on the road against Columbiana on Tuesday, as both teams continue to navigate through a competitive season.

 

EAGLES GRASP ANOTHER STRONG WIN

WELLSVILLE OH- In a commanding performance on Thursday night, United had no trouble securing a 60-36 victory over Wellsville, putting the game in cruise control.

United’s Addy Blazer led the scoring with an impressive 22 points, followed by Grace Knight with 17 and Grayson Kidder contributing 12. On the Wellsville side, Bella Poppelriter posted a game-high 25 points.

With a 12-5 record, United now shifts their focus to a crucial matchup with Columbiana, aiming for first place in the EOAC. Wellsville (9-9) will be on the road, traveling to East Palestine on Monday, seeking to bounce back from the challenging contest. The dominant win for United sets the stage for an exciting clash at the top of the conference standings.

CLIPPERS SURVIVE THE TIGERS DEN

WELLSVILLE OH- In a highly competitive matchup, Columbiana faced a resilient Wellsville team on the road, ultimately securing a hard-fought 76-67 victory.

Key contributors for Columbiana included Seth Struharik with an impressive 22 points, Ian Less with 15 points, Alex Eusebio with 14 points, and Maddox Brown adding 11 points to the tally.

Wellsville showcased notable performances from Elijah Douglas, who led the scoring with 24 points, Tyrell Watkins contributing 19 points, and Richie Dowling adding 13 points.

Columbiana (11-4) continues their strong season, gearing up for a home game against Valley Christian on Friday. Wellsville (7-7) looks to rebound on Friday with a challenging matchup on the road against United.

CLIPPERS SPEED PAST WELLSVILLE

WELLSVILLE OH- Continuing their impressive performance, Columbiana maintained their hot streak on Monday night with a commanding 50-29 victory over Wellsville.

Averi Marshall led Columbiana’s scoring effort with 12 points, closely followed by Megan Moser with 11 points and Ellie Venezia contributing 10 points. Ava Heinrich added 5 points to the team’s total.

Wellsville’s offensive highlights came from Bella Poppelriter, who secured an impressive 17 points.

Looking ahead, Columbiana will stay in league action on Thursday as they host Valley Christian, aiming to extend their winning streak. Wellsville, on the other hand, will remain at home on Thursday, welcoming United in hopes of a strong performance.

TIGERS PUT THE HURT ON SOUTHERN

SALINEVILLE OH- Wellsville delivered an electrifying performance in the EOAC on Thursday night, dominating the Indians with a resounding 71-30 victory.

Tyrell Watkins led the scoring charge for Wellsville, contributing an impressive 18 points, closely followed by Richie Dowling with 17 points and Elijah Douglas adding 14 points. Landon Ramsey also chipped in with 9 points to bolster the team’s offensive prowess.

Southern’s Noah Chase showcased a commendable effort with 14 points, but it wasn’t enough to withstand Wellsville’s relentless attack.

With this emphatic win, Wellsville (7-6) looks to maintain the positive momentum on Tuesday as they host Columbiana. On the other hand, Southern (1-13) moves on to face the Academy of Urban Scholars on Saturday, seeking to regroup and bounce back from the challenging defeat.

WELLSVILLE GETS THEIR REVENGE

WELLSVILLE OH- In a redemption-filled Friday night, Wellsville avenged an early-season loss to Leetonia, securing a decisive victory with a final score of 61-31.

Tyrell Watkins led Wellsville’s charge with an outstanding performance, amassing 33 points, 17 rebounds, and 7 steals. Elijah Douglas added 11 points and contributed 7 assists, while Richie Dowling chipped in with 6 points. Leetonia’s efforts were led by Carson Brock with 12 points, and Ashbee Merritt and CJ Faulkner each contributed 5 points.

With a 6-5 record, Wellsville now prepares for a non-conference road trip to Toronto on Tuesday. Leetonia, with a 3-10 record, aims to bounce back as they host Sebring on Saturday.

LISBON STAYS UNBLEMISHED IN LEAGUE PLAY

LISBON OH- In a conference showdown, Lisbon maintained its undefeated record in the EOAC, securing a convincing 50-33 victory over Wellsville on their home court.

Lisbon’s offensive charge was led by Trevor Siefke and Alex Shreffler, both contributing 17 points to the team’s well-rounded performance. Hunter Dailey added 9 points to the scoring efforts.

Despite Wellsville’s Tyrell Watkins showcasing his skills with 16 points, Lisbon’s staunch defense and balanced scoring proved too much for the Tigers to overcome.

With this win, Lisbon moves to an impressive 9-2 record and will look to continue their winning streak as they host United on Tuesday. Wellsville aims to bounce back on Tuesday as they welcome Valley Christian, seeking to return to the victory column.

POPPELRITER PACES WELLSVILLE PAST LISBON

LISBON, OH- It always comes down to free throws.  Doesn’t it?

In a closely contested matchup between the Wellsville Tigers and the Lisbon Blue Devils, it was the Tigers who emerged victorious with a narrow 47-45 win. The game kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer, delivering high-intensity action and impressive performances from both squads.

Bella Poppelriter was fouled with 1.6 seconds to go in regulation tied at 45.  With the pressure on, the Wellsville junior stepped up to the line, and with ice in her veins, buried the game-winning shots.

The scoring tempo remained tight throughout the game, with Wellsville and Lisbon showcasing their skills on the court. The Tigers managed to secure the win with a balanced scoring effort, overcoming the Blue Devils in a hard-fought battle.

Leading the charge for Wellsville was Bella Poppelriter, whose impressive 27-point performance played a crucial role in the team’s success. Kaylee Rawson contributed 8 points, while Amiyah Powell added 6 to the Tigers’ total. Myleigh Jackson and Sam Drysdale also chipped in with 4 and 2 points, respectively, highlighting the team’s collective effort.
