WARRIORS TAKE CHARGE OF COLUMBIANA

BELOIT OH-  Ellie Tucker couldn’t miss on Monday, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and helping West Branch run away with a 13-3 win over Columbiana in five innings.

Tucker slapped singles in all four trips and capped off a huge fourth inning with a two-RBI knock that helped the Warriors put the game out of reach. That fourth frame was a full-on avalanche—West Branch dropped nine runs behind a flurry of hits, aggressive baserunning, and a couple costly errors from the Clippers.

The Warriors got things going early, plating two in the first after a miscue and a Josie Milliken groundout. They added another in the third off a Klary McKay RBI grounder to make it 3-0.

Columbiana didn’t go down easy. Caitlynn Pleska launched a two-run shot to center to tie things up in the top of the fourth, and Anna Yonker added an RBI single. But that tie didn’t last long.

West Branch came storming back in the bottom half with hit after hit—doubles from Sara Schmidt, McKay, and Addi Craven, RBI knocks from Zoe Metzger and Tucker, plus a fielder’s choice that brought in one more.

McKay earned the win in the circle, tossing five innings with four hits and three runs allowed—only two earned—and no walks. She struck out five and got solid defense behind her, including a double play turned by the Warriors.

Schmidt added a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while Tucker and McKay both drove in two runs. West Branch racked up 12 hits overall.

For Columbiana, Pleska led the charge with two RBIs, and hits came from Yonker, Kyla Hogan, Ella Dota, and Pleska.

Next up, West Branch returns to conference play Tuesday with a matchup against Alliance. Columbiana heads to East Palestine for a doubleheader in league action.
