WEST BRANCH OVERPOWERS WARRIORS

By Michael Ginocchi

BELOIT  OH- The West Branch Warrior football team cruised to a 49-14 win over Carrollton on Friday night. This game had big implications on the EBC Championship with both teams coming in undefeated in conference play. The Warriors had no problem as they dominated from start to finish.

West Branch got on the board first when they marched right down the field as Boston Mulinix capped off the drive with a 1 yard touchdown run giving the Warriors an early 7-0 lead. However, Carrollton responded with a 57 yard run from Ryan Kiko to tie up the game at 7-7. Carrollton thought they had some momentum, but that’s when Jerimaih Thomas returned the kickoff 90 yards to the house. The opposing Warrior sideline was stunned in disbelief. West Branch led 42-14 at the half and never looked back!

Warrior quarterback Beau Alazaus and receiver Joey Jackson were on the same page throughout the majority of the game. Jackson caught three touchdown passes from Bo and made the catch of the night as he leaped over the Carrollton corner and came down with the catch in the back of the endzone. The night belonged to West Branch as they totally dominated the game offensively, defensively, and on special teams. Kicker Eliza Hirst continued her hot streak as she was successful on all  seven extra points.

With the win, West Branch improves to 8-1 (4-0 EBC)  overall on the season. The Warriors will travel to Salem next week for a week 10 rivalry matchup with the Quakers. Carrollton drops to 5-4 with the loss and will look to bounce back at Minerva.

YOU GOTTA KNOW, DON’T SLEEP ON BEAU

BELOIT OH- For the West Branch Warriors, the departure of star quarterback Dru DeShields left a gaping hole in the roster, and the big question on everyone’s mind was: who would step up to fill those shoes? The answer came in the form of a determined young senior, Beau Alazaus. In his first year as a quarterback, Beau seized the opportunity to lead his team with an emphatic “yes.”

Throughout his football journey, Beau always held the belief that he had what it took to become QB1. It’s a dream that starts in the backyard, throwing the football to oneself, and for Beau, that dream became a reality when he saw the chance to take the reins of the West Branch offense. Like all first-year quarterbacks, nerves were part of the equation, but Alazaus didn’t let them dictate his performance.

As the leader of the Warriors, Beau Alazaus has shown immense growth and composure on the field. Week after week, his stats tell the tale of a talented and hardworking quarterback: 172 completions on 252 attempts, 2,206 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions. He maintains an impressive average of 276 passing yards per game and boasts a stellar completion rate of 68%. His quarterback rating stands at 121.9, reflecting his efficiency and ability to make smart decisions under pressure. And let’s not forget, he’s not just a passer; he’s a dual-threat quarterback with four rushing touchdowns to his name.

Beau Alazaus has not only stepped into the role of the starting quarterback for West Branch, but he has embraced the challenges and opportunities that come with it. His leadership, talent, and dedication to the game have not only met the expectations but have set a new standard. The future is bright for this young QB, and the West Branch Warriors couldn’t be in better hands.

Alazaus was able to hop on YSN’s Running Point to talk about his first year under center, the pressures that can come with that, and how easy the program makes it to succeed. Check out the latest West Branch Football Player Profile only on YSN!
