CREEKSIDE TAKES TWO FROM THE FALCONS

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside has taken a 2-0 series lead in the 18U Championship Series with a 3-2 win over Astro Falcons. This was the second game in a double header. Creekside scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the 6th to steal the victory.

For Creekside Thomas Koch went 1-2 with a walk and 2 RBI. Cole Yeager went 1-3 with a RBI. BJ Arnold continues his great day by going 2-3 with a run scored.

The Falcons found themselves struggling on offense as they only managed 2 runs on 6 hits. Lucas Gulcznski went 1-4 with 2 RBI. Will Ray went 2-3. JJ Wetherholt went 2-4 with a run scored.

Zac Kelly got the victory on the mound for Creekside. He went 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 6.

ASTROS STEAMROLL THROUGH GAME 2

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons left no doubt in anyone’s mind in Game 2 of the 16U championship series with a 14-0 blowout of Knightline. The Falcons scored in all but 1 inning, including a five spot in the sixth to secure a run rule win.

Tyler Staub had a monster game at the plate for the Falcons going 1-2 with 2 runs scored, 1 walk, and 3 RBI. AJ Havrilla went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and a RBI. Ben Slanker went 1-3 with 2 RBI. Jim Campbell went 1-2 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and a RBI.

Knightline only managed one hit on the night and it came from Gavin Mauger. He went 1-1. Jake Corll walked twice.

Tino Campoli got the tremendous win on the hill. He went 4 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and striking out 6.

CREEKSIDE OUT SLUGS FALCONS IN GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside jumped out of the gates early on Tuesday to shock the Astro Falcons and take Game 1 of the 18U Champiobship series 10-8.  Creekside scored nine runs in their first three innings. It was enough to hold off the powerful Astro offense.

Bj Arnold was huge for Creekside. He went 3-4 with 3 RBI. Grant Voytovich went 1-4 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and 2 RBI. Alex Duffalo went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.

Offense was not an issue for the Falcons despite the loss. Andrew Russell went 1-4 with 3 RBI. JJ Wetherholt went 1-3 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and 2 RBI. Will Ray went 2-3 with a walk and a RBI.

Nice Rispoli picked up the win toeing the rubber for Creekside. He went 4 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 3 hits. He struck out 5.

 

FALCONS SEND STATEMENT IN GAME 1 WIN

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons sent a strong message on Tuesday in their game 1 win over Knightline 11-1. The Falcons blew it wide open in the 5th when they scored six runs.

Five different Falcons had 1 RBI on the night. Dom Fornatado was the only one with multiple hits. He went 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Tino Campoli went 1-2 with 3 runs scored, a walk, and a RBI. Anthony Miller was never retired tonight going 1-1 with 2 runs scored, and 2 walks.

Knightline struggles offensively. Guy Young collected the team’s only RBI going 1-2. Anthony Butto went 2-2. Gavin Mauger collected a hit for Knightline going 1-2.

Ryan Petro was awarded the victory on the bump for the Falcons. He went 5 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits. He struck out 5.

 

ASTROS ELEVATE PAST WHITING IN GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH-

Tuesday was a long day for Whiting Roll-Offs, falling to Astro Falcons 10-4.

Astro Falcons opened up an early lead in the second inning when Ryan DiLullo doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

In the top of the third inning, Whiting tied things up at four.  Nate Thomas’s sac fly scored one run.

Astro Falcons took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. Bo Fornataro drew a walk, scoring one run.

Shawn Kristophel led things off on the hill for Astro Falcons. He went five and a third innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three.

Ben Kern led things off on the mound for Whiting. He allowed six hits and five runs over three and a third innings, striking out four.  

Whiting scattered nine hits in the game.  Kern, Ben Miller, and Owen Keister all managed multiple hits.  Kern went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits.

Astro Falcons racked up 12 hits in the game.  Jay Wrona, Kolten Ruark, and DiLullo all collected multiple hits.

ASTROS SWING THEIR WAY TO THE FINALS

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons opened the flood gates in Game 2 of their semifinal against Dura Edge. They clinched a trip to the 18U Championship against Creekside with a 15-4 win.

The Falcons has a spread out offense on the day. JJ Wetherholt has a nice day going 2-4 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and 2 RBI. Connor Miller was perfect at the plate. He went 2-2 with 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI. Jon McColloigh went 1-3 with a run scored, a walk, and 2 RBI.

Braden Gebhardt ends a productive summer with a nice day at the plate. He went 1-3 with 2 of his team’s 4 RBI. Jake Bowen went 1-2 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI.

Matt Sheppard was able to secure the victory on the mound for the Falcons. He went 3 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits and striking out 3.

ASTROS FEELIN FRESH AFTER SWEEP OF EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- Astro Falcons completed a semifinal sweep of Eagle Wear with a commanding 11-0 victory on Sunday. The Falcons move on to the 16U championship series against Knightline.

Tyler Staub was a key factor to the Falcons success. He went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI. AJ Havrilla went 1-2 with a run scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI. Anthony Miller went 2-5 with a run scored.

Christopher Altiere did all he could offensively going 2-3 on the day. Cal Rinck went 1-2 with a walk.

Dom Fornatado got the win toeing the rubber for the Falcons. He went 5 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits. He struck out 3.

FALCONS SET UP CHAMPIONSHIP DATE WITH WHITING

STRUTHERS OH-

Roth Brothers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 17-4 loss to Astro Falcons on Sunday.  The Falcons  scored on a triple by Jake Schneider, a single by Bo Fornataro, a single by Jaden Rishel, a single by Shawn Kristophel, and a double by Jay Michael Wrona in the first inning.

The Roth struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Astro Falcons giving up 17 runs.

Astro Falcons got on the board in the first inning when Schneider tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Kolten Ruark got the start for Astro Falcons. He lasted three innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three.

Andrew Kali toed the rubber for Roth. He allowed eight hits and eight runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one. 

Kali led Roth with two hits in two at bats.

Astro Falcons racked up 19 hits.  Wrona, Rishel, Fornataro, Schneider, Drew Kaschak, Nick Lewis, and Kristophel all managed multiple hits.

KNIGHTLINE SURGES INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP

STRUTHERS OH- Things we’re looking bleak for Knightline in their decisive Game 3 against Dura Edge on Sunday. Going into the bottom of 7th inning Knightline trailed 11-7. They ballooned for 5 runs to walk off into the Championship and win 12-11.

Anthony Massucci shines for Knightline’s offense. He went 3-5 with 4 RBI. Gavin Mauger went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Guy Young went 1-2 with a walk and 2 RBI.

Despite the loss, Dura Edge did not struggle offensively. Joe Bobusci led the charge going 3-3 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI. Nick Kingerski went 2-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Kyle Yost went 2-3 with a walk and a RBI.

Dru DeShields was awarded the victory on the bump for Dura Edge. He went 3 innings and gave up 9 earned runs on 12 hits. He struck out 5.

WHITING HANDLES A2Z AND ADVANCES

STRUTHERS OH-

A2Z lost the lead late in a 12-6 defeat to Whiting Roll-Offs on Sunday. Whiting trailed 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning when Ben Miller tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.

Despite the loss, A2Z did collect 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Whiting had 16 hits on the way to victory.

A2Z captured the lead in the second inning.  They scored one run on a stolen base.

In the bottom of the third inning, A2Z tied things up at four when an error scored one run.

A2Z put up three runs in the second inning.  A2Z big bats in the inning were led by a single by Matt Paparodis and a sacrifice fly by Braden Adams.

Whiting scored four runs in the seventh inning.  The big inning came thanks to a triple by Grant Melder, a single by Nick Thomas, and a double by Corbin Sevcik.

Connor Davis earned the victory on the mound for Whiting. He allowed six hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three.

Joe Aey took the loss for A2Z. He surrendered four runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

A2Z tallied 11 hits.  Paparodis, Aiden Thompson, and Danny Nittoli all managed multiple hits.  Nittoli, Thompson, and Paparodis all had two hits to lead. 

Whiting racked up 16 hits.  Melder, Sevcik, Miller, and Owen Keister each collected multiple hits.
