CREEKSIDE PUNCHES TICKET TO CHAMPIONSHIP

STRUTHERS OH- In a back and forth affair that went deep into extra innings, Creekside advanced to the 18U Championship with a 8-7 win over Roth Brothers in 10 innings. Creekside scored 3 runs in the top of the 10th and had to hold off a furious rally. Roth scored 2, but couldn’t tie up the game and force an 11th inning.

Aaron Posey was crucial to Creekside’s offense going 1-4 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Shane Wockley went 2-4 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Grant Voytovich was 2-5 with a run scored and a RBI.

Cam Hollobaugh was his productive self for Roth going 1-4 with 2 RBI. Zach Lockwich went 2-2 with 1 run scored 3 walks, and a RBI. LJ Evans went 2-6 with a run scored and a RBI.

Brady Hansen picked up the win on the mound for Creekside. He went 2 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. He struck out 1 batter.

KNIGHTLINE RESPONDS NICELY IN GAME 2

STRUTHERS OH- After drooping a 4-3 game to Dura Edge last night, Knightline came back with a vengeance as they rolled to a 14-6 victory. The first inning didn’t go as planned, as Dura Edge shot ahead 5-2. Knightline eventually tied things up and took the game to extras where they exploded for 8 runs in the 9th inning.

Dru DeShields was huge in the game for Knightline. He went 2-4 with a walk, a run scored and 4 RBI. Mikey Sciortino was on fire as well going 4-5 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Gavin Mauger went 2-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI.

Kyle Yost looked strong for Dura Edge. He went 1-4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Nate Rynd went 1-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Jake Corll got the victory on the hill for Knightline. He went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit. He struck out 3.

 

CREEKSIDE RUNS AWAY WITH GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside had no trouble on Saturday’s semifinal game with Roth Brothers as they took Game 1 of the series 13-3. Creekside scored 13 runs on 10 hits while only allowing 3 runs on 4 hits.

Grant Voytovich was a monster for Creekside, he went 2-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI. David Duffalo would not be overshadowed as he went 3-3 with a walk and 3 RBI. Brady Hansen went 1-1 with a walk, 3 runs scored, and a RBI.

Zach Lockwich put together a strong effort for Roth going 1-2 with a RBI. LJ Evans went 1-3 with a run scored. EJ Taylor collected the second and final RBI for Roth.

Ben Petske collected the win on the bump for Creekside. He went 3 innings giving up 2 earned run on 4 hits. He struck out 3.

FALCONS NOT MESSING AROUND IN GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH- It was all business for the Astro Falcons in Game 1 of their semifinals matchup with Dura Edge. The Falcons scored ten runs in two innings between the 2nd and the 3rd to cruise to a 12-1 win.

Don Pieto went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI for the Falcons. JJ Wetherholt went 2-3 with a triple, 2 runs scored, and a RBI. John Mcullough went 1-1 with 2 RBI. Lucas Gulcznski went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Vince Armeni had a good day for Dura Edge going 2-2 with the team’s only RBI. Jake Bowen went 1-2 with a run scored. The final Dura Edge hit was collected by Braden Gebhardt who went 1-2.

Andrew Russell got the victory on the rubber for the Falcons. He went 5 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits and he struck out 9.

ASTROS DISPATCH EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons looked very strong in the first postseason game as they made quick work of Eagle Wear 11-1. It was a 1-1 game after 2 innings but 10 runs by the Falcons in the span of three innings put the game out of reach.

Ryan Petro was on fire for the Falcons as he went 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Anthony Miller went 1-2 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Luca Ricchiuti went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.

It was a tough offense day for Eagle Wear, they only managed 1 hit. That hit came from DaShawn Putnam, he went 1-2 with a RBI. Ian Barton walked and scored the team’s only run.

Miller got the win for the Falcons. He went 4 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 7.

ASTRO FALCONS LATE PUSH BRINGS HOME VICTORY

STRUTHERS OH-

Roth Brothers stayed in it until the end, but Astro Falcons pulled away late in a 7-4 victory on Saturday.  The game was tied at four with Astro Falcons batting in the bottom of the fifth when Ryan DiLullo singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Jake Schneider was on the hill for Astro Falcons. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out five.

John Cambert led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Roth. He allowed three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out four.  

Cambert led Roth with two hits in four at bats.

Astro Falcons collected eight hits on the day.  DiLullo and Nick Lewis each managed multiple hits.

WHITING HOLDS ON AGAINST A2Z

STRUTHERS OH-

A2Z effort to come back from down nine runs in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 9-8 to Whiting Roll-Offs on Saturday.  A2Z put up seven runs in the failed comeback. Blake Jeffries, Carson Bish,  Matt Paparodis, Joe Aey, Chris Denney, and Aiden Thompson all picked up RBIs in the rally.

A2Z fell behind early in the loss.  Whiting took the lead on a single in the first inning.

Whiting fired up the offense in the first inning.  Grant Melder singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

A2Z notched six runs in the sixth inning.  Their big bats were led by Jeffries, Bish, Paparodis, and Aey, all driving in runs in the frame.

Whiting scored six runs in the fifth inning.  Their big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by Nate Thomas and Grayson Hooks and doubles by Ben Miller and Corbin Sevcik.

Joey Pugh earned the win for Whiting. He allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one.  

Jeffries took the loss for A2Z. He allowed four hits and three runs over three and a third innings, striking out three.

A2Z tallied six hits in the game.  Aey and Matt Boccieri each managed multiple hits.  Boccieri and Aey each collected two hits to lead.

Whiting collected seven hits on the day.  Melder and Miller each had multiple hits.

DURA EDGE SHOCKS KNIGHTLINE AND TAKES GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH- Dura Edge used momentum from their first round win to steal Game 1 of the semifinals from Knightline 4-3. Dura withstood a last minute push from Knightline, as they scored two in the final frame to cut it to 4-3.

Caleb Jones was instrumental in Dura Edge’s win going 3-4 with 2 RBI. Ryan Telesz continued his impressive postseason going 2-4 with a RBI. Anthony Malagise went 1-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

For Knightline, Anthony Massucci went 2-4 with the team’s only RBI. Gavin Shrum went 2-3 with a run scored. Seth Kristophel walked once and scored a run.

Malagise picked up the win on the mound for Dura Edge. He went 6 innings giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits. He struck out a pair.

EAGLE WEAR CLOSES THE DOOR ON PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- Eagle Wear advanced to the Class B semifinals on Friday night with a dominating 15-2 win over Prospects.

Anthony Caruso filled up the state sheet for Eagle Wear in the win. He went 3-4 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI. Ian Barton also had a productive night going 2-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Brett Brown added on going 2-4 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and 2 RBI.

It was a tough night offensively for Prospects, but Lucas Lancaster had a good game going 1-2 with a RBI. Jake Hettrick went 1-2 with a run scored.

Jake Papagallo picked up the win for Eagle Wear on the bump. He went 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 5.

A2Z PITCHES THEIR WAY TO NEXT ROUND

STRUTHERS OH-

A2Z defeated Creekside Fitness 5-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Joe Aey induced a fly out from Michael Patellis to finish off the game.

A2Z got things moving in the first inning.  Chris Denney drove in one when he singled.

A2Z tallied three runs in the sixth inning.  The batters contributing to the big inning included Carson Bish and Tyler Canfield, all knocking in runs in the inning.

One bright spot for Creekside was a single by Carmine White in the seventh inning.

Aiden Thompson got the win for A2Z. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out eight.  Aey threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Aey recorded the last six outs to earn the save for A2Z.

Brady Loew took the loss for   Creekside Fitness. He allowed three hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two.

Danny Nittoli, Blake Jeffries, Denney, Bish, and Matt Boccieri each collected one hit to lead A2Z.

White led Creekside with one hit in two at bats.
