TAYLOR OPENS THE SEASON WITH A NO HITTER

NILES OH- Haleigh Taylor was lights out in the circle Tuesday, mowing down 10 as Hubbard rolled past Niles 11-0 in a run-rule win.

Taylor tossed 4.2 innings of no-hit ball, didn’t allow a run, and walked just one. Total control from start to finish.

Hubbard got the scoring started in the first on a Kaylee Schultz groundout, then opened it up in the second. Lauren Komorek launched a three-run shot to left, and a passed ball added another to make it 5-0.

Layla Songer tacked on a run in the third with an RBI groundout, and the Eagles kept piling on in the fourth—Taylor crushed a solo homer to center, and a pair of Niles errors helped bring in three more.

The bats stayed hot—Hubbard racked up 10 hits in total. Cara Green was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 out of the seven spot. Komorek drove in three with her long ball, and Taylor added two hits to her dominant day.

The Eagles also flashed the leather, playing clean defense with no errors. Alyssa Gregory was everywhere, leading the squad with nine chances in the field.

These two teams meet again in conference play on Wednesday, this time around the matchup will be at Hubbard.
