THARP’S 100TH HIT PROPELS PIRATES TO VICTORY

COCOA BEACH FL- Perry pulled off a wild one Tuesday, walking it off 11-10 over Central Crossing in a back-and-forth slugfest that had fireworks from start to finish.

With the game tied at 10 in the bottom of the seventh, Elise Strahan stepped up and smoked a triple to bring home the game-winner, sending the Pirates into celebration mode.

Both squads racked up 11 hits in this shootout, with momentum swinging nearly every inning. Central Crossing came out hot—Hayliee Roberts doubled and Chesney Mullins went yard in the top of the first to make it 2-0.

Perry didn’t blink. Rosalyn Tharp answered with a three-run bomb to center in the bottom of the first, notching her 100th career hit in the process and giving the Pirates a 3-2 edge.

Lindsay Russell tied it back up with a solo shot in the second, but Perry scratched two more across—one on a Sophie Sivon groundout, another on a Tharp RBI single—to go back up 5-3.

The Comets came right back in the third, tying it up on RBI hits by Makayla Unrue and Russell, but Perry answered again. Emma Brainard lifted a sac fly to score two and push it to 7-6.

Fast forward to the top of the seventh—Central Crossing looked like they might steal it, plating four runs thanks to a Mullins RBI single and a three-run bomb from Unrue.

But Perry wasn’t done. An error opened the door for two runs, and then Strahan shut the door with that walk-off triple.

Sivon picked up the win in relief, tossing 4.2 innings of solid work—four hits, no walks, four Ks, and zero earned runs. Morgan Winters started the game for Perry. Central Crossing split the pitching between Roberts and Kaitlyn Rizzo, with Roberts taking the loss despite seven strikeouts.

Arianna Rogers led the hit parade for Perry, going 3-for-4 from the seven-spot. Tharp and Sivon each drove in three, and Madeline Infalvi added two hits and swiped a pair of bags.

Central Crossing’s offense was led by Unrue, who knocked in four and had two hits. Roberts, Mullins, Russell, and McNew all chipped in with multi-hit games.

Perry continues their time in Florida on Wednesday as they take on Antigo at 11:15.
